Spydaman - Southpaw…..lol. Nah, but seriously….it is a good idea. I luv my fellow southpaws - Sakmongkol, Yodsanklai, F14 (R.I.P), Samkor, Orono, Coban and much more.

Friday was Lumpinee’s 51st birthday to celebrate the stadium held 10 championship fights. Most of the fights were in low weight classes. Seanchi Sor Kingstar’s fight against a fighter from Orono was the heaviest bout at 132 lbs.

Kingstar obviously didn’t take Orono seriously. In the first round he attempted his cartwheel kick that grazed his opponent. Orono obviously had a game plan and was diligent about sticking to it. Orono using basic muay thai beat Saenchi in the first three rounds. Kingstar’s ego got in the way of his abilities. Towards the end of the third round Orono split open kingstar’s left eye. When Kingstar started to bleed he finally realized that the fight was serious. He began to fight with ernest in the fourth round. Orono was elbow to cut him again and by the fifth round Kingstar had done too little too late. Orono won the belt from Kingstar to become the lumpinee champ.

I was there to watch that Lumpini fight night and I thought that Saenchai desereved to loose because as Matt Lucas said, his ego got in the way. My advise to all Lumpini tourists is to get tickets for the 2nd section not ring side, its a way better atmosphere!!!

In the weeks approaching this fight I trained at Sanchai’s camp and watched his preparation. He was ready for the fight. There was no ego in the way, he lost on points, as Orono fought a brilliant fight to take away Sanchai’s weapons. He used his size advantage well and caught many kicks, ran forward and constantly pressed the action. The rematch set for March 28th is again postponed, but with a 2lbs. spread, I predict a victory for Sanchai in the rubber match.
