Zidov Akuma vs. Eli Madigan

October 14, 2008 by nopstar

This happen about a month ago, it’s taken a while for footage to surface but I’m not complaining.  The internet is amazing isn’t it?

I remember when I was kid my mom would go to the thai grocery store and would rent 5 tapes at a time of her favorite Thai soap.  Here is a fight that happened in Australia a little under a month ago, and voila now all we’re watching a talking about it.

Anyway I’ve got to go back and look at Zidovs fight record.  I don’t remember does he atleast have the same amount of fights as Madigan?  It was a clinic for Madigan, Zidov got straight up abused!  They appeared to be in to totally different classes.  I’d like to see Madiagan in the Contender…

    Eli’s probably going too Nop…

  2. mlucas on October 14th, 2008 10:16 am

This was a real face paced fight. Not normal “muay thai style” which builds up to the third or fourth round. Maybe the fast knockout was due to size, or maybe ethnicity, or maybe due to the fighters themselves…
All the same sounds like Eli Madigan (peep his fights with Soren) is coming up while Zidov is peaked.

    matt lucas

  3. mlucas on October 14th, 2008 10:17 am

fast not face. Shit, I wish we could edit our posts for grammar if nothing else.

  4. nyghtsky on October 14th, 2008 1:20 pm

Eli’s good… but sadly, Zidov’s not much of a fighter to begin with…

  5. TexMT on October 14th, 2008 1:36 pm

Agreed. Zidov’s got a lot of heart and is a funny guy, but he was simply outclassed. I wonder if Eli was sending a message with all those teeps to the face. I counted 2 or 3 in the first round alone.

  6. jake on October 14th, 2008 2:11 pm

    oof. big time.

i can’t tell if eli is just a bigger build or zidov is just small.

  7. colargol on October 14th, 2008 7:44 pm

Madigan’s nickname could be ‘contender killer’.. But seriously, I’d like to see him give JWP a try. Would be a huge draw in Oz.

  8. Gusnark aka Sandjora on October 14th, 2008 8:36 pm

Madigan showed pretty good skills, good aggressive style, nice punches, kicks and overall nice combinations. I’m not surprised with Zidov’s performance though. Zidov seems like a great guy, always joking and full of life, but when it comes to muay thai… let’s just say, as someone posted before, that he would do better in circus.

  9. yknocka on October 14th, 2008 10:56 pm

that leg kick check was brutal.

  10. tong po on October 14th, 2008 11:50 pm

zidov was smashed big time. midigan showed some good skills, combined with aggression, but I’d like to see him in there against jwp.

  11. Frank on October 14th, 2008 11:50 pm

I wouldn’t say the check was brutal so much as Zidov didn’t kick deep enough and hit the top of his ankle on Madigan’s knee.

  12. Stack on October 15th, 2008 2:31 am

Zidov is just in over his depth. He’s not bad guy or even a bad fighter. Eli is just better.

May be he had an off-night I’ve give him the benefit of the doubt. Jabba sure did. That’s the worst I’ve ever seen him.

  13. li on October 15th, 2008 3:16 am

That was gnarly!!! In less than one minute you could tell that Zidov couldn’t stand a chance. I don’t even know why he came back for the second round…

  14. robzepeda on October 15th, 2008 6:05 am

Why does Zidov get fights and publicity? Is it the tattoos and the contender asia appearance? Honestly, the guy isn’t a good fighter by any means. Does anyone think this guy is good?? I’m sure promoters like that he has a recognizable name, but the guy is trash at muay thai.

  15. H on October 15th, 2008 6:43 pm

    did Zidov teach himself?

  16. H on October 15th, 2008 6:55 pm

    Mad dogs the man

  17. SE on October 15th, 2008 8:26 pm

robzepeda i agree. midigan thought zidov wasnt worthy of being on the contender asia either. thats why he sent those teeps to zidov’s face.

  18. SE on October 15th, 2008 8:27 pm

lmao H it does appear that way

  19. Stack on October 15th, 2008 10:43 pm

Zidov is from Sanda anyway. I cannot hate on him too much though. But this is the issue with reality TV – it’s pretty far from reality.

Still cannot hate Zidov for trying his best.

Overall it was good for Fox as more high profile events go on under his auspices than ever. But that’s really about all that has changed.

We didn’t really need the Contender to tell real Muay Thai devotees who is supposed to be where in the ranks or the world. That said it’s cool that may be some of the world got introduced to yod, Narupoel and so forth for the first time.

  20. LorKoteKote on October 16th, 2008 12:16 am

I’m still trying to figure out what you mom renting Thai soap operas has to do with anything in this post???

  21. souvik on October 16th, 2008 3:25 pm

I just watched Eli Madigan vs Soren, and I have to say, I really like what I’m seeing in Eli. Sharp, clean, strong, textbook Muay Thai. And some serious punching skills to top it off. He decimated Soren, so I don’t think beating Zidov was much of an accident.

If he goes to the Contender, I’ll bet he’ll be one of the last men standing, if not the winner.

Keep your eyes on this man. He means business.

  22. xamarceaux on October 16th, 2008 4:38 pm

As it’s been said before …I don’t know how Zidov get’s such good fights. I don’t remember the last time that Zidov won (other than Zach’s hurt shoulder victory.) None the less, Madigan was awesome to watch.

  23. ShadyEskimo on October 16th, 2008 11:12 pm

    Nop
You ask isnt the Internet amazing, and I reply a Big YES, if it wasnt for the Internet, I would still be watching Van Damme movies and Go “Damn he can Fight”. I discovered a martial art that seemed Real and Obvious and Straigthforward. No fancy movements, but direct, and focusing on HARD Kicks, Hard Everything! So Once again, again Nop We love this Site, and The Freaking Internet!

  24. Chok Dee on October 18th, 2008 8:26 pm

zidov is a good fighter. eli is a great fighter. one of OZ best pfp. would only place ts2, jwp and preacher better in past few years.

  27. zidov on October 27th, 2008 3:28 pm

ok as first i want to thank all the people supporting me.
then ok maybe im not the best fighter or maybe people think wye him get so good fights all the time.

    zidov

  28. spydaman on October 27th, 2008 6:59 pm

ooooh!…Look at wut u guys done did….lol. U done pissed the man off. by the way H….pretty freakin hilarious comment.

Now Zidov, in all seriousness I understand that you have to make a living but what I think everyone is saying is that it might time to add/change somethin in your training regiment…maybe change camps because the one you’re in is obviously not making you any better and your manager is obviously not getting you the right fights. I feel like everyone has potential and it’s all about how it’s being cultivated. Sure you have the heart of a lion….but that’s not gonna get u far if u don’t also have the skills to back it up. In all fairness, the people they put u against were all top fighters…but shouldn’t that be an indication that they are treatin you like a “gate keeper”….or a “Can”?

I give you all the respect in the world. You’re a good man but I hate to see you go out that way. Chok Dee!

  29. Stack on October 27th, 2008 7:34 pm

I respect Zidov. And I don’t believe he is actually a bad fighter. He’s just in over his depth. That’s one of my central issues with the Contender is the mismatches.

That and the Aussie slant, the lack of anyone from Japan or Holland and there you have it – reality TV.

  30. zidov on October 28th, 2008 3:04 pm

    hey my friend
no nowbody is pissing me off.is ok people can say wath they want.they not say something bad about my famalie or something,so for me is no problem.i respect them wath they think.and yeah maybe you right to change training, but you have to see that i was i lucky boy to come to contender.from nowbody to the top.befor i come to contender i was fighting thai people around essan wher i life befor.and now i fight top fighter heavier then me.but is ok i train now hard again with my new coach here in samui.and ifight next week in hongkong in my weight so ther will be no excuses for me.i live my dream from a street kid to a pro fighter but please guys let me little more time to lern and i promis i will be better in the future.
    thanks

  36. Madness on November 6th, 2008 9:20 pm

H’s comment is way funny ! I believe Zidov was a better fighter when he was with Ole Laursen. Maybe the potential of getting famous and more overseas fights was what made him go to the tourist camp WMC. He has been losing ever since he switched camps. And don’t forget who gave him the spot on Contender. It was Ole who couldn’t make it due to injury and so Ole recommended him but see what happened Zidov defected.

  37. Madness on November 6th, 2008 9:22 pm

Essan would be better for Zidov

  38. Madness on November 6th, 2008 9:31 pm

My othr post not posted I haf to re-type the whole thing…

H’s comment’s very funny! Zidov was a better fighter when he was training with Ole Laursen. He has lost all his major fights in (NZ, S’pore, M’sia and now Oz) ever since he switched to the tourist camp WMC it’s the links and connections that can give him overseas fight so maybe he forgot it was Ole who helped him and then recommended him for Contender when Ole was injured. Maybe on TV you people think he is funny and nice guy but I say he is an ingrate

  39. zidov on December 5th, 2008 9:25 pm

    hey madness
wye you say i forget who bring me to contender or who make me wath i am as fighter.fight club zurich and legacy gym ole laursen.but you have to see i come to thailand with little bit money and i start to train real and fight for my money.i fight in essan for small money.afther contender my money get finish and i have to make a dessicion go home and stop fighting or go to wmc camp samui.ole not get any fights for me only in essan.
stephan helpt me and bring me to wmc and with good fights and not good money but better then in essan.yeah for me is better to stay in ubon and train ther i train harder there but wath will i doo i living from fighting.i have to get good fights.
and i get in contender because arslan broke his arm in training.and then they call ole.
and you say maybe i forget about it that thanks ole i am wher i am.no i never forget this and i know he is verry angry because i leaft the gym and is ok i understand.but dont say i forget

Zidov y you come online defend youself everytime somebody says about you? It only show how desperate you are. You are popular now not for your fight but for you being funny only but you wait next batch of fighters come you will be forget.
you try sell your shorts on internet but not your team red color but not blue. You now need money to feed your baby or you never take care of your baby at all? Or you get in trouble in Thailand no money no honey they say. You go home to your girl and baby

  41. Antti on January 12th, 2009 6:00 am

Madness you sound like a girl who went with Z one night and fell in love a bit too much. Then went on a rampage on all possible forums trying to revenge your broken heart? Or maybe trying to make him insult you so you could sue him and cash in? Sounds familiar to me… Who are you anyways telling people how they should live their OWN life? If you got one for yourself maybe you’d have better things to do than pick fights in the internet haha. THAT’S desperate. I don’t want your replies, i know already how it will be like. I rest my case

  42. spydaman on January 12th, 2009 8:49 pm

Madness…..I think u were way outta line. There’s nothing wrong wit stating ur opinion as long as it’s in a respectful manner because at the end of the day it makes u look like keyboard warrior. I do understand your first point which I believe basically stated that one should have a certain level of loyalty. You don’t believe Zidov was loyal, Ole don’t believe Zidov was loyal and I’m sure a few of us agree to a certain degree just as I’m sure some will disagree. But you’re way outta line when u bring a man’s personal business and family into the equation..That’s a coward move, he didn’t not attack you, he only defended his actions by explaining his version of things…U need to respect this.

This is not my blog but I’m quite sure I speak for most when I say this “Keep that disrespectful shit for an MMA blog” This is a Muay Thai blog…and in Muay Thai we honor our teachers, we respect our fellow fighters and we cherish the art. I would urge you to go back and meditate on this whole ordeal.

Few Things I would like to point out:

    - U don’t seem to like him much, yet you sure do know a lot about him.

    - I don’t think u would talk about his baby to his face so why would u type about it from the comfort of ur home from (most likely) a different country than the one in which he resides?

    - ur nickname suits ur writing style well.

    - I can’t believe I just wasted the last 20 minutes writing all of this.

Oh and Zidov, I appreciate you blessing our MMT community with your presence.

    Madness, take care, man!

  43. Stack on January 13th, 2009 8:41 am

I’m not siding with anyone but madness is not lying. Beyond that I’m not going to comment.

  44. Madness on January 16th, 2009 5:11 am

The fight comunity is small and everyone know somebody in it and one girl happened to be my mate’s sister he know who. I trained with many gyms and I know stories. I know ole and he is man wih great respect and who offend him must do something very bad. In yahoo you can find some thai girl post messages from Zidov’s facebook then you will understand where poeple are talking

  45. greghow on January 16th, 2009 10:08 am

Madness, if you have something personal against Zidov, maybe you can get his email address and send something directly to him instead of insulting him on this board. Instead of encouraging fighters to come here and post, you attack his personal life and make him feel unwelcome. This is a muay thai blog, not a gossip channel. If you have something against his style or technique, I’m sure he’d be glad to hear your criticism. I don’t speak for the whole mymuaythai community, but I think it’s better if irrelevant gossip is kept out of the blog. I have nothing against you. I just think it would be better if we don’t shoo away fighters who drop by and post.

Madness, u don’t seem likea bad person…..You should know better. Oh! and grown man (assuming you are grown) don’t talk about other man’s dick size…..dat’s just disturbing.

  51. Stack on January 26th, 2009 11:15 am

spydaman – the issue is not loyalty. That issue is strictly between Zidov and Ole. I have heard Ole’s side of the story and Zidov’s story and frankly I believe Ole. I just happen to know of some of the goings on at the WMC camp and can tell you Madness’ various accounts aren’t with out basis. But to be fair I never had any use for that particular camp anyway.

No offense to Zidov in the slightest I just believe Ole’s side. I feel I know Ole well enough to say I trust his word and see absolutely no reason why he would lie about anything. He never has in the past.

In regards to the rest., there’s no question life style effects training and fight preparedness. Since I never had the honor or luxury of a sponsor I treated time in a camp as a day in the office and it’s where I do work. After all I was paying for it out of my own funds from a day job. I take it very seriously and for me it’s not an opportunity I was going to foolishly overlook in lieu of partying or whoring around.

That’s just my approach and I neither accuse nor approve of what anyone chooses to do at WMC. I just know I wouldn’t train there.

  52. Madness on February 12th, 2009 7:52 am

OK sorry I say about his family that was private but Im not lying. To zidov, who can be jealoused of u, ur just one funny guy but no I don’t think any serious man to his business will want to be like you. We all have trained and live in thailand we know how it is like but my mates we do it for the sport, not money or name, let alone girls. If I came across as immatre for spilling your truth then look at ur self and what u say to defend.

  53. grayskunk on December 2nd, 2009 1:16 am

Firstly I have to say I know very little about Muay Thai having only recently watched the Contender, I do Tae Kwondo myself and as such I enjoy most martial arts.
There seem to be a few harsh comments towards Zidov on here whatever your opinion of him as a fighter I think anyone who gets in the ring deserves respect and in the Contender series against JWP Zidov showed a lot of heart to keep getting up and to still be trying to throw shots.
The guy has to earn a living at the end of the day so I would ask myslef if I were in his place would you I advantage of the good fortune that came your way after the contender? and of course anyone would why slate the guy for that?.
I hope he does well personally he seems a cool guy as does Zhabar and both have great heart from the fights I saw and skills can be improved and technique can been honed and tactics learned but you cannot learn heart you either have it or you don’t so good luck to them both I say.
