I didn't critique his style. I just don't think it would shine through in sparring for the majority of people, especially amateurs like us. If you throw a ton of single (what's supposed to be power shots) in sparring, you'll get countered virtually all the time because you're not hurting the person or knocking them off their stance.

These critiques of Yod's style are kind of funny for what does or doesn't work in sparring. Don't you think Yod might have possibly arrived at that style during sparring or do you think he happened to have the time and ability to develop on the spot in a single bout at '110%'?

I dont think Yods style is monotone or one dimensional.Since when did being good at what your good at and using what your good at to the best of your potential ever be boring or one dimensionl. The reason everyone (me included)loves people like Saenchai is bcause there are very few people with that much flair and diversity in the ring.Yods style is to me brutal and almost always pi point accurate, im not a particular Yod fan but I always think hes an entertaining and fomidible fighter.

For the record, Im English and I think, from what Iv seen, Wakeling is absolutley awesome, I also think this fight will potentially go the distance aswell, but I dont think Wakelings got a chance in hell of winning against Yod.

Yod's style would only work if you have the power to back it up. Blocked or not, you will feel it. You want to counter but the impact puts you out of position. Back to start again.

His style won't really work in sparring, since it relies on absolute power and intimidation. You can't go around smashing your training mates at 110% during sparring.

agreed stack..he is a one man demo team, and reaL efficient. I have trouble wrapping my mind around it...HOw does he do that? That style never worked for me in sparring..which is why I watch him over and over...its just a beautiful thing thing to behold.

On an off topic I wll add that seeing him as a down to earth person and a good sMomma`s boy via Contender Asia is what really made me see him as a grounded individual..(not like the testosterone junkies u tend to see here in the US)
This adds to our fascination. How can this humble mama`s boy be the dangerous ring tactician that we see here.

Yes I am a nut hugger when it comes to Yods=)

I honestly don't get how anyone can regard Yodsaenklai's style as static or boring. Yod's style is pretty fan friendly to watch as he goes in and tactically starts just destroying his opponents with little to no feel out time. His new style since going up in weight is really seek and destroy.

@ H, ....hahaha....uh NO!!! Was that really supposed to be funny?? Ur joke was completely irrelevant to the subject at hand. I wouldn't be surprised if you were american.

Anyway, I hope the Steve Wakeling vs Yod turns out to be a better fight than this one. I also agree with Kaonieoh in stating that I too believe that Yod took mercy on poor Vusi. I have watched videos of Colossa....not impressed at all, I don't really even kno why they even bothered scheduling a rematch as if Colossa is the best fighter France has to offer. I would like to see Cedric Muller go against Eak...dat would surely be a more exciting fight.

@ Padkeemaw, well said.
