The Rumble of the Kings promotion has put together a nice little mini documentary of Yodsanklai Fairtex and Arthur Kyshenko leading up to this Saturday’s bout in Stockholm. Should be quite the fight… It would have been nice if this would have taken place a year or so ago. Yod hasn’t been active… hopefully he won’t show up like he did for his last “Thai Fight” bout. Kyshenko changed camps at the tail of of 2010, personally I like his fighting style better when he was at his old camp.
Like everyone in this clip I’m not sure where it’s going to land. I will always pull for Yod, but f he shows up like he did a couple of months ago, Arthur takes it. The fight is going to be available online for more information check out the Rumble of the Kings.
What do you guys think?

NO MATTER WHAT. kyshenko cant beat yod. thats fucking ridiculous.
November 21, 2011 at 1:23 pm
is under full MT rules? If its under FMT rules and yod has bothered training Yod to win.If its modified rules and or yod hasnt trained Id go for kyeshenko.I dont think Yods style suits k1/modified rules at all.Full thai tho yod all the way

Yod really needs this fight, I hope he wins! Yods still quite young at 26 even if he did start at a young age he has had some time off and can still become as good as he once was if he has the right team behind him pushing him! I have trained at many camps around Thailand one of which being Fairtex Pattaya and don’t get me wrong its an amazing atmosphere and a good camp to train at if you want to chill out on holiday and still train Muay Thai but its not the right camp for Yod to be at. I know I am going to offend a few people by saying this but Yod is a very lazy fighter like so many other fighters out there including myself at times! The problem is that his trainers DON’T push him enough. Everyone has lazy days and sometimes lose the will to fight but that’s the trainers job to keep you motivated! Its the whole team which creates a Champion, not just the fighter! How do you think a personal trainer turns a fat, unhealthy 40 something year old with hardly any exercise experience into having almost a body-builder type body? TIME AND MOTIVATION! He really needs a good team behind him. First of all he needs a good pad holder which Fairtex are full of and also needs a militant dude with a hard stick who will shout and hit him every time he starts getting lazy like how they do at Sitsongpeenong lol. He need trainers that don’t care if he’s a superstar and will treat him as if he is an up an coming 14 year old having his first fight at lumpinee! He needs good sparring partners especially boxing sparring if he’s going up against Kyshenko and he needs a different person to spar with every round! He needs a good strength and conditioning coach which I’m sure they have in Thailand who will go through a good program with him including plyometrics, intervals, weight lifting and etc. But mainly he needs to be at a different camp! Like I said before its a good camp but its not for Yod especially at this stage of his career. He can still live there but every 4-6 weeks before a fight he should be at a much more simple camp where there are no laid back runs at the beach with a snack (memories lol) and a good team of fighters/trainers that don’t care who he is and what he has done but what he is going to do! Fairtex have a lot of money and connections and can Easily make all this happen but who am I to say what is what! Sorry got a bit carried away but I just hate to see a waist of talent. My 2 cents…
November 21, 2011 at 9:10 pm
with all due respect..lol @ telling yod what he needs, he’s not 21 anymore bro, pretty sure he’s just trying to get that paper at this point.
November 22, 2011 at 8:39 am
It’s a fact that u make more “paper” by winning fights…than by losing….that’s why someone like Buakaw for example is making a lot more money than someone like Kaoklai. @ JoSHUA…I do believe u might have made a valid point…Im curious to hear everyone’s take on this.
November 22, 2011 at 11:30 am
@grime. Like I said before I am know one to be telling yod what to do but I miss the old Yod. The Yod from 2005-2009 who was practically unbeatable and dominated basically everyone he fought! The only loss he had was against Andy souwer which I personally think was a robbery! “He” might be just after paper but like I said it should be the whole team behind him that motivate him into wanting more then just money. I might be a nobody but I bet you if I had the right money and connections I could bring back the old Yod just like how buakaw still dominates through out the years! Its like Fairtex are just not bothered any more.
November 23, 2011 at 6:38 am
I’m sorry but I really disagree with your mentality here. 1) I miss the old Anuwat but that was then and this is now, fighters get old, they have families, their priorities change, their mentalities change, their bodies change, that’s just what happens, I’m sure it’s a lot more complicated than him being lazy or not having good trainers. 2) I’m pretty sure Fairtex has plenty of money and connections. 3) after Buakaw got knocked out by a Japanese guy everyone was talking about him like they’re talking about Yod now, oh he’s not the same he’s gotten lazy he’s got old yada yada, and what, because he beat up on some farang with much less experience he’s “dominating”? Dude he’s not fighting anything close to the top guys at his weight. Yod is at least getting in there with Colossa, Antuan, Kyncheko etc, who has Buakaw fought recently? Anyway, these dudes start training when they’re kids and neither you nor I have any idea what that kind of life is like. I remember Samingprai telling me his schedule as a child; wake up at 5 train til 7:30, go to school from 8-4, train from 4-7:30, eat dinner, go to sleep, wake up and do it again, 6 days a week. If these guys want to take it easy after 20 years of that, who are we to tell them different.
November 23, 2011 at 1:55 pm
Very true I couldn’t possibly understand what’s going though his mind but he has a son now which I didn’t know and I guess its good that he thinking about his sons future…maybe his last loss was a wake up call or maybe like you said his mentality has changed but either way he’s had amazing career and ill always be a huge fan….
November 21, 2011 at 4:54 pm
Hmm, I dunno ironically I think yod would do better in k-1 rules as his main weapons are usually his punches and left kick.. don’t think I’ve ever seen him put someone down or even dizzy them with an elbow or knee or in the clinch? Excited to see this one either way, I agree I think vintage yod would take it but who knows which one will show up for the fight.
November 22, 2011 at 8:35 am
I’d have to disagree with you. If you are a big Yod fan u will have noticed that he is a big advocate of kicking forearms “breaking the shell” with his left kick…he likes to use that kick a lot and in Full MT rules he would score points by repeatedly moving his opponent with his powerful kicks but in K1 moving someone with the force of ur kicks isn’t worth spit and neither is kicking someone’s forearms….watch the Souwer vs Yodseanklai fight and u will understand. I just hope he has learned his lesson since then.
Btw, They stopped the Yohan Lidon vs Yodseanklai fight because of his elbow strikes. I also agree that “vintage, still hungry Yod” would take this fight with no sweat….almost makes me wonder if Petchinbee was not a better fight for him. things that make u go “ummmm”!!!!
November 22, 2011 at 11:55 am
Yeah true, I didn’t think of it so much in terms of scoring.
November 21, 2011 at 9:15 pm
and nop, even though yod got rocked at thai fight, he still showed tremendous heart, as he did with antuan in that recent tournament, i think as long as he’s got that he’s got a chance in any fight. from what i’ve heard it’s pretty well known in thailand that yod has a weak chin, so that’s how they trained his opponent, he got caught in that match, but i still think it was a great performance from him considering his age and experience.
November 22, 2011 at 6:02 am
so all this skepticism is coming from the fight with yasuhito shirasu? if so , then thats pretty stupid.
November 22, 2011 at 12:09 pm
I wouldn’t say that, the yasuhito fight was just a dismal topper to two years of fights where yod hasn”t really beaten anyone noteworthy, beat up a bunch of second teir fighters and chalked up losses to his two more legit-ish fights against JWP and Artem Levin (granted the sport accord thing was kind of weird and against JWP it was a split decision in front of home crowd for JWP). I think Kyshenko’s on his way up and he’s the toughest opponent yod has been matched up with in quite a while.
November 23, 2011 at 2:04 am
the jwp fight was a complete and obvious robbery. a victory i would almost be ashamed of if i was jwp.
in the fight with artem, he was way bigger than yod. but i dont take anything away from artem he is a great fighter and guy. regardless of size artem did the right thing, he realized early he could negate any of yods kicks by catching them. after artem caught virtually all of yods kicks, yod stopped kicking and iddnt have much of anything against artem.
November 23, 2011 at 2:07 am
usually from my experience watching fights…. once a thai nak muay realizes all his kicks will be caught and result in a sweep he loses his whole game plan

*spoiler* *spoiler*
Artur Kyshenko wins by Unanimous Decision 3-0
November 27, 2011 at 5:56 am
fuck you
November 27, 2011 at 12:05 pm
you’re welcome : )
November 27, 2011 at 2:09 am
Damn man Yod does not have a weak chin! anything but man what BS!!
Dude that guy has got one of the best chins out there.
He’ll happily take 2-3 hits just to land one and knock his opponent out.
You can’t fight with the style that yod uses and have a weak chin!
That’s ridiculous.
I understand where you’re coming from grime with the hardships that they face and your right fighters will often get to a point where they’re comfortable and become “lazy” and we definitely aren’t in a position to judge them.
But Joshua does have a really good point. Fairtex is a really good gym, BUT for a fighter like Yod I think a different gym would suit him alot better.
Just to really push him on as he is a lazy fighter with ALOT of power.
He knows he can win with one shot just like anuwat and so they tend to get a bit lazier. A camp like sitsongpeenong would do him wonders!!
Look at buakaws camp! the reason hes come back from some hard losses is because they don’t muck around and live in the lap of luxury they train hardcore all the time and it’s really paid off for him.
A change of camp for yod would be awesome to see.
Doubt it will ever happen. I think yod will retire soon :(
November 27, 2011 at 7:52 am
Dunno dude, I was at Kiatphontip when the Japanese guy that beat Yod was training for that fight. They told me “Everyone in Thailand knows Yodsanklai has a weak chin,” I’m assuming from watching his earlier fights. That’s why they told Japanese guy not to block the kicks and take them on the arms and counter with the punches. What I said isn’t my opinion it’s what I heard out there. Maybe you know better who knows.

kyshenko won it… but 2-1
November 28, 2011 at 7:09 am
It was close but Yod took it for me. Also, those are the worst announcers I’ve ever heard, in any sport.
November 30, 2011 at 3:06 pm
Looking forward to artur kyshenko first time meet up with petrosyan in march
November 30, 2011 at 4:02 pm
Talking about Kyshenko, did anyone notice his weak leg work? As a part of changing his style to a more K-1 style, more punches, less kicks.
December 1, 2011 at 4:04 pm
Good fight.. This was under k-1 modified rules. No elbows, only one knee in clinch.
You can tell Yod worked a little harder in training, he toned up for this fight. Art put on weight it appeared. Art had the speed advantage, while Yod had the slower power advantage (mostly the kick though).
Overall, nice fight, both guys showed heart. Yod is experiencing the old-fighter syndrome (all though he is still young @ 26), with over 200+ fights that can take a tole on anyone. Is Yod done? Definitely not. If he wants to improve, He needs to train more on punching (defense/offense) more with a trainer. His old bully tank style does not work now, since he is a tad slower then before. Yod will be back, but he is not the Yod of 2006 no more.
December 1, 2011 at 11:31 pm
Unfortunately I kinda knew was going to lose. I hope he switches camps to some place that does’nt give a ish that he’s yod. If not,he’s gonna keep losing.
December 2, 2011 at 3:14 am
In the last year he’s beat Jordan Watson, Colassa, Cosmo Alexandre, and most recently Antuan Siangboxing, I really don’t understand these “keep losing” comments….
December 2, 2011 at 9:37 am
