Recently Yodkunpon (Muu) (Blue trunks), a young fighter out of Sitmonchai gym fought against Mapichit Sitsongpeenong at Lumpinee on November 29th. Muu has signature “Sitmonchai style” with aggressive hands and low kicks. I really enjoyed this bout for Muu’s sharp smart hands. It looked like Mapichit had Muu in the clinch though. The boxing adage “Styles make fights,” really comes into play when watching the Sitmonchai guys. While I enjoy classic Muay Thai style, it is only when styles clash that you get interesting, engaging bouts.

Muu’s picture with the sunglasses is classic!
There is definitely a bright future for Yodkhunpon in Thailand and abroad. He’s quite tall for a young Thai, about 5’8 I think and still only 17 years old! Over the next few years if he can beef up I feel he can explode on the international MuayThai scene. He has all the tools and devastating knock-out power! Just seeing him hit the pads just shows you how explosive he is and for those who have seen him training boxing with Kru Dam know what I’m talking about.
Not taking anything away from Mapichit, If muu didn’t knock him out Mapichit might of taking it by points in the clinch and that is usually the case with the Sitmonchai fighters, they come in to a fight to KO or TKO and that’s what makes them so entertaining to watch.
I don’t know if this is true but apparently the manager of Yodkhunpon is trying to sort out a fight with Chockpreecha K.Sakuncher who is also good with his hands and is known for knocking out his opponents. If it happens it will be a fight to watch…

definitely picked the best Muu picture haha. I think this puts him and Mapichit 1-1…or maybe it was another Sitsongpeenong fighter. vicious KO nonetheless.

Josh- you are dead on about Muu to see him hit pads is something, his kicks are just so explosive and quick.

What a knockout, trickery and timing were perfect! Also, I love the way Yodkunpon uses his elbows, plus he’s fighting in a very smart way. It’s the first time I see him fight, looking forward for more!
Thanks for sharing!
