Who’s going to Jamaica?

April 7th, 2008 · 23 Comments

I came across this one on the forums a little while ago. It’s the proposed line up for Dennis Warners upcoming show in Jamaica. The event is going to be a 4 day event, with golf tournament and all… I’d love to go. You can read more about the event here. Many thanks to Hellfighter for the link.

I was scanning the line ups and this match up stuck me as being strange? . Yodsanklai Fairtex vs. Malaipet Sasriprapa really? I know Malaipet is a regular on Dennis’s cards but is that really a good match up?

I don’t mean to hate, but I don’t think this is the best fight for Malaipet. I appreciate that he’s a tough, tough, MF but personally I think he’s just a little too old to hang with the likes of Yod. I’m only saying this after watching his fight with Schniedmiller… I’ll post it so you can see what I’m talking about. He gassed out pretty bad and ate a lot of hands that night. I think he’s capable of walking through lower rung A fighters, but I against Yod… not going to happen.

Not sure if I really believe this fight will actually happen, I know promoters typically put names on the bill to drum up interest. That being said, I was at a Warner show a couple of months back and it was legit.

The other matchup that caught my eye was Clifton Brown and Kaoklai… I don’t know but I didn’t think Clifton Brown was active anymore. I don’t know what to expect from Kaoklai anymore… honestly though I think Kaoklai will come out try to intimidate Brown. Per his usual routine he keep his hands down by his waste and Brown will catch him with a stiff upper cut. Kaoklais hands really are atrocious…

Here’s the rest of the lineup:

hey is that Rick Creek guy from up in these parts? Because if he is he has some fucking atrocious, I mean fucking atrocious tattoos.

What’s with Yod’s lazy eye? Or maybe he’s winking at me?

    Yo,

Didn’t Baxter Humby retire after that last fight in LA ? There was that whole production with him talking after the fight. I guess he is coming back out. All said, looks cool but I really hate when promoters put fights on the card that are never going to happen. I know I am preaching to the choir here.

Nice enough card, but jeez are there too many titles in the world or what….

Clifton Brown is active. He won the WMC super light heavyweight (I think) world belt in October 2007 against Priest West in Germany.
It’s on youtube, along with a bunch of news interviews with him. I believe he’s fighting once again somewhere else before he takes Kaoklai on in June.

Personally, I don’t see Kaoklai winning, let alone winning by KO. Clifton’s too well rounded for him. Although anything can happen, so it should be a good fight none the less…

As for the other fights, I’m going to agree that Malaipet probably won’t be able to win against Yod, and that JWP will probably take out Pique.

I think Lamsongkram can take out Farrid…but I personally think it’ll be close. Unless Lam opens him up good with an elbow

Manson Gibson? Wasn’t he fighting during Desert Storm I?

I heard that show was bogus

I think malaipet has a good chance against yod if he actually takes this fight seriously and trains for it. I only saw him train once for his fight with Schniedmiller, and apparently he was sick, but who knows… :\

Why go away from his huge fan base in LA to Jamaica?? I’m calling this one a ‘myth’. stick to the sure sell out. Hell.. if you awnt to travel let’s get back to those MT cards in Vegas.. Vegas and MT is a match made in heaven..

  • 10 Anonymous // Apr 8, 2008 at 1:49 pm

I agree with Timmy’s comment. Malaipet was sick before the fight badly and he only trained once… if he trains like every fighter does before a fight (6 weeks), he will stand a good chance.

Malaipet is a good fighter but i am sorry to say YOD will beat him. YOD is in his prime! YOD is a Lumpinee champion.. I think people forget how hard it is to become a Lumpinee champion.

  • 12 Anonymous // Apr 8, 2008 at 7:11 pm

what is the thing malaipet has around his waist?
i’ve seen saenchai with a similar thing during his ram muay

  • 13 MR. X? // Apr 8, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Anonymous- the cloth maliapet is wearing is a traditional isaan belt cloth. Isaan is the large north-east region of thailand. People in the region are predominantly poor rice farmers and they wear this type of cloth during work on the rice fields. Isaan fighters such as saenchai and malaipet wear these cloths during their rum muay to show their roots and where they come from.

This fight is real, i just attended the private launch party they had in L.A., Both Clifton and Malaipet were there. If you can’t make it down, i hear there will be a pay per view.

Everything you say is right, but dont be surprised if Malaipet knocks Yod out, No one is safe in this sport, even if youre in your prime, even if you are a Lumpinee champ, Anything can happen. Nothing is Sure.

Hey everybody, what do you guys think has happened to Kaoklai, Once so Good(maybe luck) and victorious, but now no one believes in him. I know we mentioned it before in an earlier post, but what Do YOU GUYS n GIRLS think went wrong if anything, and why did he suddenly grow overconfident(or what ever you think) I would love to hear your opinions, because I dont get it and havent heard anything.

As one of my trainers said when i told him about the fight between Malai Vs Yod he said that Malaipet is gonna get killed….

I didn’t like Kolakai’s weight jumping- he was too fast for the big boys-but also not nearly as big/strong (the KO of Might Mo notwithstanding), but not as skilled for the lower weights. Sure he is strong, but lacked the skill/power to compete when he dropped down below HW.

malaipet is gonna get killed. lol. he might be an underdog but hes not getting killed. thats for damn sure.

What is up with you??? Getting racist cause of Kaoklai, I guess I meant His K1 carreer where he is outweighed by a hell of a lot of Kilos, and the Mighty Mo super Kick was Good but also Lucky, and I didnt mean his whole carrer was based on luck. Having Said that SE go FUCK yourself, and that Igloo joke, wish I knew where you are from.

I am just saying that anything can happen, Its not the most likely outcome to see Yod lose, but the Possibility exists, I too hope and believe that Yod will win, but I have been dissapointed many times, even though everybody predicted otherwise.
