Buakaw Por Pramuk has gone missing! The world reknown nak muay has been missing since March 1st from his long time camp Por Pramuk. Leaving with his new BMW Sedan, the fighter has left no traces behind abandoning potential match ups, including an upcoming bout with Fabio Pinca. His befuddled manager at Pramuk has stated that the fighter left due to ” feelings of fatigue, and chronic injury.” The manager stated that; “I want him back quickly. His disappearance will hurt him in the end because I’ve now cancelled many of his events,” obviously looking out for ’s health and wellbeing (meaning career). Furthermore he said that  ’s departure has nothing to do with a reputed rift in the camp after the camp’s physical therapist was let go.

Rumours have abounded as to the Por Pramuk’s mismanagement of Pramuk’s career and being rather draconian with the nak muay. What is perhaps most important though is where is our champion? Did he disappear into the jungle a la Tony Jaa to find himself? Has he gone the way of his mongkol… gone for a few days then to reappear? Is he holed up in the hovel on Kao San rode partying with traveling Europeans? At a full moon party? Returning to his roots in Surin? Skipped town to be with some exotic girl abroad?

Perhaps he’s tired of the drudgery of the fighting life, he has been at it for over 15 years… Maybe he just needs a vacation…

About mlucas

Born to a working class family in rural New York I grew up working like a dog and drinking Natural light in the woods. After a brief stint attempting to escape the poverty of employment via university I gave up on escaping the grind and moved to sunny California where the burritos are as generous as the weather. I work in the service industry slinging booze and food. I got into Muay Thai as a recreational activity. I saw an interclub fight and decided to try it out, everyone has to test their mettle somehow. A few fights and a year later I was in Thailand training, and fighting. I haven’t quit stepping into the ring since. I currently live in West Oakland and balance my time blocking punches with my head with attempting to prevent brain deterioration through writing, studying Thai; language, culture and history, and going to wild dance parties with my friends.

  1. he dont wanna fight pinca.

    • I usually don’t like your comments because your always negative in some way or the other but I’m gona have to agree with you on this one. I dont think he wants to fight Pinca and I think his managment dont want him to either. I could be wrong thou….I hope none of the fans take this to heart but Buakaw doesnt ever seem to fight fighters at his level. But hopefully if he is in some kind of trouble that he is okay…

  2. Hopefully he is ok. First time in recent years a famous international nakmuay goes missing without a trace. Could it be the mafia? Girlfriend? Suicide? Who knows, I know that the life of a nakmuay is not easy easy. I wish him the best of luck.

  3. SE…..your an idiot

    • VA_nakmuay I guess you’re one of those kids who hangs posters of buakaw in his bedroom? I hope he’ll get dominated by Pinca, which he won’t fight…

  4. I heard he was spotted in Patong on march 5th.
Anyway, if he needs a break, he totally deserves it.

    • No he wasn’t. It was only a joke posted on Facebook that was taken out of context….lol

  5. Pretty sure Aekpracha is already scheduled to step in with Pinca in place of Buakaw.

  6. Opiate/hooker binge or the mafia/management.

Srsly though hope dude is OK

    • Ofcousrse you do, your life would make no sense if you can´t bash him.

      • im a fan of his. but facts are facts. monkeys dont know how to think for themselves though. so you dont have to understand the concept of individual thought and making conclusions based on your own experiences.

  7. Banana trees dont hit back….

  8. I hope hes ok…. wether hes not up to fighting pinca for wotever reason… or whatever hes doing… I think hes already proven enough. Hes been at the top of k1 and shootboxing and won some pretty impressive fights over the years.

  9. Oh and hes also represented Thailand very well in the thailand challenges..:)

  10. Strange.. I hope this is not one of those things where Buakaw is kicked out by his management. It reminds me of Namsaknoi, who was kicked out and stripped from his titles. Honoustly, giving the fact what happened to him, I don’t hold Por Pramuk’s camp in high regard..

  11. Surin25, what’s the story behind Namsaknoi being kicked out and stripped from his titles?

    • Namsaknoi was the big star of Por Pramuk gym and still hold the record as the muay thai fighter with the most winpercentage. At some point he got into an injury, but when he was fit again he got into a fight with his manager (for reasons I don’t know, but speculated to be about money).

The problem was that he still was under contract with the Por Pramuk gym and if he had left to another camp, they had to buy him out of his contract for a large amount of money. And fighting without a camp in the big stadiums is not possible.

He left to the south where he came from and started training people. He was four year in a row the (undisputed) Lumpinee champion, and to put it gentally, a fighter of his calibre was not dealt with properly. They ruined his great career. Maybe buakaw is now going through the same thing..

      • Thanks for the info man.

  12. in Muaysiam newspaper today. Buakao has called world champion boxer Kompayak CP Freshmart and told him he is safe and well and staying in Isarn with friends, but won’t say where. He said he has been tired and stressed for a while, mainly due to wanting to rest and having too many fights and other commitments lined up, said he has got bored and wants to rest for a while!

    • what a convenient time to do so!!

      • I concur with VA_nakmuay…SE,, you ARE a total idiot.

        • Last time I checked, having a bad attitude, behaving like a Dick, and speaking Your mind were not against The Law. Ive seen Joe Schilling fight a couple of times and the guy puts on a good show ,do I agree with his actions and the things he says,NO.But to condemn the guy simply because he doesnt fit your idea of a “Yoda” like Muay Thai practitioner is a load of B.S.

The guy is a Fighter and I will give him that. The guy FIGHTS.Thats what I pay for and thats what I want to see.(Besides, dont we all love that ultra bad boy, Tong Po?)

A rematch?? sure ,there’s alot of unfinished business still left in that Ring between those two.I want to see it.
I respect and value all the Honorable Muay Thai ideals as much as the next guy,But lets be honest, part of the attraction of this Saturdays fight was the fact that there was alot of bad blood between these 2 and it drew in more people and created more buzz for the Fight. The bottom line is,You gotta put asses in the seats and make money.

^^^ that is the rant of a fucking moron. go watch your tong po movies and watch WWE you lame, fucking over the hill tool. did you really fucking say everyone loves tong po?

          kill yourself

          • Oh I see, only Your Opinions matter…You must have Tons of friends.

          • BTW, Im Honored that my words impact your silly little life so much that you feel you have to go back and Copy and Paste them.Carry on, TOOL.

          • Per my last post… this is the first and last warning. Clean it up.

          • Everyone loves Tong Po because I have a monstrously small phallic. Kap Khun Kap!

        • with name like manny55 stick to selling tacos. anything outside of that, fucking pls, just stfu.

          • Thanks!! Youre fantastic too.

  13. when i was in thl last year with my gf(thai), we went to eat a couple times at the big lake NW of khon kaen city(na wa) like a hour drive. its a popular place to relax for isarn people. my gfs friends said they spotted him there a couple days ago. i thought they were lying especially after i said to her they were missing.
after reading rob’s post i guess they could be right.

  14. I took this pic this morning… he’s been hanging out in my neighborhood in London. He’s working at a place that sells Jerk chicken, really good chicken btw.

I’ve heard from reliable sources (the same reliable sources that told me he was missing way back on March 5th) there have been tensions in the camp for a while, between his management. (Father and Son) Mr. Pramuk, has been handling Buakaw for years, his son has become more involved over the past few years.

I understand they don’t give him a decent cut of what’s earned in the camp. They are milking the buakaw cash cow for all it’s worth. After the Thai fights in Bangkok, they wanted people to pay 300baht for a photo with Buakaw! Are you kidding me? You can pull that crap in Japan, but not in Thailand. 300 baht is about 10 meals…

A couple a months ago, during the floods the fighters who were part of the Thai Fight, showed up to help sandbag, and hand out food to the flood victims, most of the fighters were there for most of the day… Buakaw and his camp showed up for the 15min photo shoot and were off.

Is he a bad guy? I don’t think so, a little conceited but that’s about it. I think he’s a victim of atrocious handlers and management.

He’s probably had it, and is going to sit out for a while. Good for him.

    • he gets paid up to 5k baht per fight. and only a share of title fights or fights with bonusses.
to sum it up, its below the avg. yearly income. really sad.

      source? thai news ;]

  15. Its probably a long time coming for the sport now that its expanding and more folks are seeing the business end of things..(or lack thereof). If its this bad for White Lotus, imagine how it is for fighters of lesser stature. With all the international exposure and business ventures its only time before fighters realize the inequities in pay (vs western counterparts) and see how other fighters are maximizing their brand in stronger currencies. Professional sports in the US were in a similar pay structure until athletes starting demanding a larger share and engaged in Brand marketing in order to capture previously lost income in royalties and endorsements; one can debate whether the pendulum is swung to far on this side now..
At any rate, it draws attention, and I am sure there are a bunch of fighters who can now envision their true potential, and are wondering if their management has their best interest…or if they should seek a career path elsewhere.

  16. Namsaknoi-story all over again.

They should set up a labour union for fighters in Thailand. I remember when visiting some fights at Lumpinee that there was a crowd protesting in front of the stadium about the wellbeing of Thaiboxers. I asked some people what was the deal, and they said that fighters were 1) not payed enough, 2) had to fight too often to please the gambling crowds, 3) Were written off too soon and 4) there was to much politics involved.

If muay thai wants to grow, they should start by improving the life of fighters.

  17. Whoa, big update here. Looks like Buakaw has been found and has given an tv interview and is NOT HAPPY with Por Pramuk. This is actually kind of sad…
