When Was Your Last Brawl?

When was the last time you were in a brawl? Here is the important question did you use any Muay Thai? I did a brief interview with some Muay Thai fighters. I asked professional fighters; some of whom are world champions. They will remain nameless, because I’m sure they don’t want their business in the street. I was told by one fighter I’ll call him (Reungsiam) to protect his identity… :-)
Reungsiam said he used to just punch people… “I stopped punching people because I fucked my knuckle up on someone’s tooth” (pointing to a scarred knuckle) “After that I just used my elbows.. a good elbow always gets the job done.”
Another fighter I spoke to said he has never thrown one kick in a fight. “I’ve used foot jabs and fists only” I was actually quite surprised by this… how is it possible you’ve never thrown one kick? He explained quite simply “It only takes one right cross, and they usually go down.”
Apparently the story goes.. he was out with some friends and these guys kept grabbing at one of the girls in his group. He was emphatic that he warned them twice. He said the third time he just hit him with a right. He said he walked out of there before all hell broke loose.
Another fighter said the last fight they were in with a “person” (seriously) they were able to drop their guy with a long knee from the clinch. I’ve got to imagine if you get someone in a deep clinch, and your controlling their head… it’s pretty much over.
So fess up I want to hear your battle stories. I know of several of you on this blog who’ve been in scraps. To my English friends out there fess up… I know your out there! I know you guys love to brawl, it’s sort of a National pastime for you guys.
I’ll leave you with an oldie but goodie. One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on youtube, enjoy.

I usually run away like a little girl. Its too dangerous to get into fisticuffs these days!
Where is that first picture from? Looks like a brawl in a crackhouse between 2 bums.
The last fight I was in (many years ago), I never actually threw a punch or a kick. The guy swung at me, I blocked it, stepped in and hip tossed him. I managed to keep control of his wrist with his arm extended and I put my foot on his face, turning his wrist until he started to scream. I told him the fight was over and to leave me alone or I would break both of his arms.
I still to this day have no idea how I managed that since I was in TKD at the time and never took any sort of akido/BJJ/etc.
Funniest one was spinning back elbow. Had a confrontation at a bar with someone much more drunk than me. When I turned away someone grabbed my right shoulder so I went for right backfist but he caught an elbow by accident. Night night. Bastard ruined my buzz.
The last street fight I was in (long, long ago) actually made me quit training Muay Thai for about 5 years. It was a stupid fight over pride and the kid got hurt very bad. Horrible experience…
Ahhhh… the great drunken past time. All those street fights on YouTube with someone getting sucker punched make me feel ill. The Tonger is right, it is crazy nowadays…
Last one I got in was several years ago outside Hustler Club. My friend and I got jumped by 3 guys that were walking down the street. My friend used dirty boxing in sort of a clinch (he utilized drunken-irish brawler style) and worked the guy with about 20 uppercuts, but ended up breaking his hand.
One guy came up to me and said “Lets run this..” Jesus… I put up my hands and he looked confused. I hit him with 2 rights, straight down the pipe, and he ran away.
Cops show up and actually ask us if we wanted them to go after the guys. We said no and then one cop asked me if I used to play football for some Catholic High School in the area. Guess he thought I was some other white boy. It was weird to have the cops on my side in that one.
If the cops showed up and i was still around after a fight I would have probably been cuffed up for being a Mexican in The City. I say this from past experiences. Sorry for going off subject.
Many moons ago, when I was just a squire, taking the bus home from school, a few guys pulled a gun on me robbed me. I actually wanted to go crazy, I was so mad, but I wasn’t going to get shot over no bullshit. Also, as is usually the case, the bus driver did nothing. I got off the bus at the next stop, went home, called the cops and got questioned by the cop. The thing was, when my father came home and saw me talking to the cop, he asked the cop what was going on. The cop got mad for no good reason and said ask me himself and left.
Seldom get into street fight unless my life or the one I love is being harm. Plus, street fight are a little too dangerous, you never know whether a guy is hiding a knife or sort. By the time you know, you’re probably being stab a couple of times. As I say not worth dying for nothing.
