Warren Stevelmans vs. Albert Kraus
January 27, 2009 by nopstar

We’ve got a little more K-1 to get through before we get to the Muay Thai… almost there. Here are the rest of the fights from the Beast of the East show the other night.
Warren Stevelmans vs. Albert Kraus
Once again, many thanks to Patrbr for the upload! I’ve got to admit I wasn’t expecting this at all. Quite the brawl… I honestly didn’t think these guys were going to be able to keep the pace up, but it seemed to intensify as the fight progressed.
I think the one of the first times I had seen Stevelmans was his Max bout with Souwer. I really thought he took it to Souwer. The dude sort of reminds me of Zambidis only with slightly better fitting shorts.
Anyway I wasn’t expecting Kraus to perform so well. I think he’s gotten his 2nd, 3rd or 4th wind… I think he might be on a little winning streak.
Seriously what’s going on with Kraus? I think this is the best of seen Kraus in a long time. Maybe he’s spending a little more time training instead of living in the tanning salon. (I know cheap shot) Does anyone know where in Holland Kraus is from? I’m curious if it resembles New Jersey? Sorry Jersey peeps.

Nice fight, altough I was a bit dissapointed in stevelmans, it looks like his footwork and speed of movement have taken a big step backwards, don’t you guys think?(compared to his fight against souwer and his K-1max tournament that got him in japan). Finally Kraus starts doing lowkicks.
Seeing this fight makes me want to see petrosyan fighting max’s best even more..
Kraus may be on a “winning streak” but Buakaw definitely defeated him. I guess that’s what happens when you leave the fight to the judges.
Nop,
I agree with you. I haven’t seen such a strong Kraus ever ;)
Anyway, I’m aware of him since he “won” against Buakaw anyhow …
Stevelmans is a great fighter, but this time he wasn’t that sharp. I think he got tagged in the 2nd, which affected him. He also lost some fights, which may also affected him. Lately he lost against Souwer, Drago, Petrosyan and now Kraus.
Kraus is ok, but more of a brawler and stiff with his legs. I prefer “cool” technical fighters.
Stevelman was significantly undersized in this bout; Kraus constantly bullied him with heavy punches and preventing counter striking. I was extremely surprised Kraus didn’t gas from the swarm of punches he brought to Warren, so kudos to Albert for the conditioning. Warren showed promise with some wicked combinations but was very inconsistent with throwing them, perhaps due to Albert’s aggressiveness. Entertaining fight nonetheless
Looks like Kraus is toughening up and wiling more to take it to the opposition. He may not be the whirlwind he once was, but he def seems to be a better version than the early Max’s.
” I’m curious if it resembles New Jersey? Sorry Jersey peeps.”….Got jokes, huh!!!! lol
