Tongchai Tor Silachai vs. Teelek Por. Samranchai

July 17, 2008 by nopstar

Props to Luke1 of K-1Fans for the upload.   I think I’m going to be back in Krungthep for a couple of days in August.  I think I’ll by a couple of the Songchai disks.  See if I can’t upload and post a couple of classics.  Anyway I wanted to post this fight; it’s somewhat timely and topical.

This is the fight where Tongchai  Tor. Silachai breaks Teelek Por Samranchai’s leg.  Don’t worry it isn’t gruesome at all.  Not like that one clip everyone and their mother has seen… For those of you who don’t have access to veoh, you can view it here.

I’m going off on a tangent now but why the hell do people feel the need to keep perpetuating that video.  I don’t mean sharing it, but upload the same vid thousands of time.  If you look up Muay or Kickboxing that vid of the guy breaking his leg shows up at least a couple of hundred times.

I’m loving Teelek’s sneers, so badass… I don’t have nearly enough skill to sneer like that.  I’d sneer and then get punched in the face.  Doh!

Anyway, we’ve had some lively debates around Tongchai and I thought it would be fitting for us to see him in action.  As Commando pointed out… the point of this blog is to comment and share our opinions.  It’s evident we come from all over the world, with a wide range of perspectives… but we’re joined by our love of Muay Thai.  Debates is great, but remember…we’re all in the same community.   Let’s try to keep shit civil.

Much love,

Nopstar

Such a shame for Teelek to end like this. Teelek looks like a pretty accomplished fighter.

Ufff, that clip we’re probably all aware of is really scary. I watched it once and never again, my bones hurt just to think about it.

Damn, can’t imagine how that feels! Ouch! Aye Nop, did you know that we here in SF are finally getting the Contender Asia series (Contender Muay Thai as it is here). It’s on a cable channel called V.S. Wierd huh? Maybe now, Muay Thai will get the respect it deserves. It starts on July 31. Too bad (thanks to MMT) i’ve seen the entire series. I’ll still watch it though.

That kick didn’t strike me as a particular hard vicious ass low kick like I have seen people throw (ie. Ramon Dekker, Danny Steel, Bunkerd, Alex Gong etc….)….It might just be a case of the perfect kick, at the perfect time, with the perfect angle in the perfect place, wit perfect momentum and acceleration…lol.

It’s also possible that Teelek had some kinda bone disease….they also say steroid tremendously drops ur bone density to low numbers.

The femur, I have learned is the strongest bone in the body, so I dunno how that coulda happened especially since Im sure teelek had quite a few fights prior to this one and continuous trauma to a bone usually hardens it over times (hard body training).

Do u guys really think his thigh bone broke because of the strength of Thongchai’s kick?

U have to forgive me, I’m just a lil skeptic by nature… :-)

Damn, he broke his femur too! That’s a big/strong fucking bone to break!

LOL danny steel. i seen him get murdered then boo’ed off the stage at hollywood park. HOWEVER he did seem injured. quite possibly injured coming into the fight.

yeah the femur… it makes me want to do every set of body weight squats my kru tells me to do.

I’m actually with Spyda on this one. Its very hard to break the femur- unless the kick is extremely powerful. Did that kick look tremendously powerful to you guys? Also, Teelek lifted his leg- taking the weight off- hence, less stress to the bone?

SE…I’m not sayin Steele was the best fighter alive…..but at his time he was definitely known for his hard low kicks.

Tong Po,…Ur right Teelek lifted his leg which number 1 means that Thongchai’s shin did not cut across the width of Teelek’s thigh but more along the length of it (in a parallel motion)…I hope everyone feels wut I’m sayin.

I hate to take it away from Thongchai but i’m sorry to say that kick was hardly hard enough to cause this kinda damage unless like I said b4….Teelek had some kinda bone disease (that caught up to him at that specific point), was already injured like SE mentioned or was usin some kinda drug (steroids for example)…..I would go with SE’s theory though.

Oh…I’m not sure if squats will do anythin for the density of ur femur…I think a few thousand low kicks during sparring and fightin will do the trick….hehe. ( I could be wrong about the squats though) ;-)
