The Contender Singapore in the works?
July 11, 2007 by nopstar
I haven’t reported or blogged on this in a while. I came across this the other day; it appears that the Contender Muay Thai is being filmed in Singapore. I think the other fighters in this promo clip are probably still in. The only fighter that I know who has come out and confirmed he’s participating is John Wayne Parr.
The press release states that they are in negotiations to have it aired in the US. I’ve got my fingers crossed, any Muay Thai coming into my home that isn’t a re-run of K1 on ESPN is welcome. In all seriousness this would be huge, for Muay Thai in the States.
Like we discussed in our previous post, this might be the big push Muay Thai needs to get a foot hold on American soil.

YEAAAAH!……..BRING IT TO THE U.S…..pleaaaaaase, pretty pleaaaaase, with a cherry on the top. I don’t recall seeing JWP in the commercial (it’s been a while since I’ve last seen it and the faces that pops right into my head are those of Yod and Jomhod).
ps: I like ESPN reruns….lol…..(shit…it’s better than nothing…lol)
Spyda-
This is from JWP:
“I signed the contract today so I am in. Wonlop, Yodsanklai, Arslan and many other top boxers are in it as well.
You can see the highlight on youtube under Muay Thai Contender.
Its going to be awesome for Muay Thai around the globe.”
Very nice. I really hope this hits the states. Also, I thought JWP was done cutting down to 154…
This is goin to be awesome, all of this is very valuable information..thanx a lot Nop. I hope Seanchai and Jomhod are in there too.
I thought this was going to be Contender Thailand. Why did they change it to Contender Singapore or Contender Asia? Arent all the asian contenders Thai? Well, maybe the roster has changed.
At the end of the day what it is called dont matter but what do matter is if the show that shit here in the US.
