“The Contender” Coming to Thailand

Mark Burnett’s reality TV show The Contender is coming to Thailand. Who gives a rats ass right? Check this out, same format but with Muay Thai. It’s going to be 16 fighters vying for 5 Million Baht about $130K.

“Sixteen fighters will compete for the ultimate prize of becoming “The Contender.”
The series will air on Channel 5 in Thailand; discussions also are ongoing with networks in Asia, Europe and Latin America.”
The rumored fighters are:
Yodsanklai Fairtex
Samkor Kietmonthep
Jomhod Kiatadisak
Naruepol Fairtex
Kaoklai Kaennorsing
Sagatpetch Ingramgym
Some of the names they are throwing around are a bit insane. I think the list is pretty suspect though. I’m fairly confident that the Fairtex folks would be up all on this. However I don’t see them pitting their own fighters against each other… maybe different weight classes?

The Grand Prize is a huge chunk of change and a house. I blogged about this initially a few months ago. My source has confirmed a few names, and expected some the other aforementioned fighters to be involved. [...]

I have heard that the whole thing is cancelled because the people that bought the show didn’t really know how to do the show and was not paying the crew. I was wondering why the hell Mark Burnett would sell such a great show to a buch of incompetent people like that?
the show is going ahead is singapore from august 2007
