The Art of the Entrance
March 11, 2009 by nopstar

I was watching clips from this last Japan max when I came across Nagashima’s ring walk. I know almost all of you will disagree but I think its pretty badass. Nagashima is into cosplay, a huge subculture in Japan. Screw it man… his fighting wasn’t memorable at least his ring entrance was.
I think at heart I would say that I’m a reserved person. I’m outgoing but it takes time for me to warm up to people. I appreciate it when these guys get out there and do their thing. Not only are they going out there to throw down, but they’re putting on a show. I know I would have the sack or the personality to enter a ring like these guys.
I’ve just recently been asked to MC the Muay Thai fights at York Hall in May. I said yes, but I’m actually not sure why. I’m just hoping not to get booed out of the ring. Anyway more on that later.
I think these two guys stick out in my mind as the craziest ring entrances. Prince Nasseem was someone I was a closet fan of. His shit talking and swagger are things I dislike about athletes. That being said he was so far out there… that it was tough for me not to appreciate it.
I remember watching this fight… I remember I was laughing my ass off. Especially when he KO’d the skull. It’s so over the top, camp whatever that It’s one that I’ll always remember.
Genki Sudo, I think this dude is a P-I-M-P. By far my favorite when it comes to insane ring entrances. Ok, I’ll get off his nuts now… I think he’s easily got the craziest ring entrance out of any fighter not in professional wrestling.
The footage is pretty bad, but you get the point. Of all the Thai Nak Muay (besides rambaa) he might actually have the most colourful ring entrance. This obviously isn’t part of Nak Muay culture in Thailand, but I know most of them love fighting abroad and it shows. They get to play, and put on a show.
Who’d I miss?

You didnt miss him as you made a reference but I think Rambaa Somdet deserves more of a mention.I love his entrances really funny and correct me if im wrong but very “un-Thai”?
Posted this on the FB group as well, but thought I should share here too

besides having good entrances genki sudo is one of the baddest fighters and a good person.
I don’t know if it counts as an entrance but there is Manson Gibson who took on Coban for a title at light heavy and he insisted that he be announced as: Manson ‘Thai Killer’ Gibson. And they did just that. May be not the wildest entrances but probably one of the most inflammatory.
BTW Coban was a lot older than and pretty overweight by that point too.
Naseem is quite the vaudevillian, I never realized. he is like the Alice Cooper of boxing=)
that was funny!..in a boxing match..gotta give de man props
I think its great. When I was in Japan it was amazing how many people were really into cosplay. Its like Halloween all year round.
Gotta love Genki Sudo’s entrances
Manant,
Ditto to Rambaa M-16′s Ring Entrance! Don’t know how traditional Thai’s perceive his entrance, but I am always left extremely entertained, and yet fairly confused. He definitely is a crowd-pleasing fighter.

Man, the commentary for Prince Nasseem’s entrance almost sucked the fun out of it.
holy crap Genki Sudo is the man!!!!
Akihiro Gono makes me laugh every time.

Akihiro Gono is the master of the ring entrance he never comes to the ring without a show.
This has to be the greatest way to get INTO the ring though.
