Cross Training

I did a post last week about changing up my routine, trying to keep things fresh.  I find that if I mix things up it improves my training and prevents burnout.

I find I’m always close to burn out… I need to change things up to keep focused and enthusiastic about training.  About 6 years ago a Bikram Yoga studio opened up down the block from my apt.  I started going and really found it beneficial to my long distance running and my Muay Thai. Read more

Tuning up my hands

The start up I work for recently moved to a new home by London Bridge.  I was pretty psyched to find a Boxing Gym literally just up the block.

I find boxing an excellent way to combat Muay Thai burnout.  For those of you who’ve never done any formal boxing, I whole heartedly recommend that you do.   I find boxing so technical and incredibly challenging. I’ve been doing muay thai for a while and I still find my hands subpar.  When you start working with a boxing coach, you suddenly realize how inefficient and “loose” your form is. Read more

Loose Hands

The other day I was training with my new training partner Dean, and I was mentioning how it really bothered me that my boxing was getting so loose.

There was a period where I had injured my right foot from repeatedly kicking elbows with the same part of my instep. It got so bad that a few of my toes would go numb every now and then. Occasionally it act’s up, but for the most part it’s ok. Read more
