Sudsakorn vs. Kulebin
February 5, 2010 by nopstar
Here’s another fight from last weekends action in Italy. It’s with Andrei Kulebin and Sudsakorn. Kulebin is a gifted fighter out of Belarus, with loads of experience. Can someone confirm did he compete in this years World Amateurs? That’s something I seriously don’t’ understand… you get folks like, Kyshenko, Levim and I’m pretty sure Kulebin who show up and compete in the world amateurs… seriously what the hell is that about? I noticed it’s the Belorussian countries that always bring the pro’s to fight in amateur tournaments. Can someone please set me straight?
Ok so sorry to go off on a tangent, this fight features one of my current favs… Sudsakorn, the nakmuay with hella swagger. What’s up with the ref? He needs to STFU, playful taunting has always been apart of MuayThai. It’s the nakmuays way of saying “You ain’t got shit”.
Anyway both these guys are scary fast and vicious, a little disappointed it didn’t go the distance but that’s just how it is. Anyway hope you guys have a great weekend, get some training in and I’ll catch you Monday.

I really rate Kulebin I think he got to be in top five farrang in the world for his weight if not the best?I hear that Russia and belarussia etc recognise Muay Thai as a sport (unlike the UK) and they fund their amateurs very well. But not sure a communist regime would fund a “proffessional” fighter .Basically MT is their job and therefore they are funded to train and fight by the government.I think people like Kulebin fighting amateurs is tied up in this.Even though he is clrearly way to good for it.Not to slear on exavctly how it works but read something on axkickboxing forums about it a while ago.
Fantastic shot that finished the fight, but think a reamatch could definately have a different outcome.I think you could see how much Sudsakorn actually rates Kulebin as dangerous by all his macho posturing during the fight.Thais dont normally seem to do that unless they actually rate an opponant!!
1 other thing. That referee (in my local parlance), did not have a pot of glue!!He is shit.
wowowow
Looking forward to more Sudsakorn!
Wow really surprised. I agree with Manant I rate Kulebin big time especially after watching him train during my stay at Keatkhamtorn for I-1 last year. Hes an absolute machine and trained harder than anyone there, thais included. Amazing speed and accuracy on him.
What a shame, I’m sure hes going to come back bigger and better after this one. Hes a true champion.
As for the IFMA theres heaps of pro’s in there its not just Belarus. I think its more geared to make it an official sport. They want it in the olympics and its going to the Asian martial arts games. One step closer and we’ll have it as a demonstration sport and then included as standard program which I believe is the vision of the WMC. Far better than TKD…
Levin has won gold for the past 6 years I think this year is the only year hes lost. Ill ask my trainer he refs some of the matches there.
@manant: i also thing kulebin is one of the better farang out there and even if not, i like his style anyway. but if you watch the fight, he hadn’t figured anything out about sudsakorn (who had a good height/reach advantage) and was totally stumped. even if there was a rematch, kulebin couldn’t beat him, i don’t think. sudsakorn could have ended it in so many ways, inside or outside. also, i don’t think sudsakorn respected kulebin as much as you think he may have, he is always cocky regardless.
@nop: i think he referee was right on in stopping sudsakorn from doing all that nonsense. if it was all fun, that’s one thing, but he was being disrespectful to kulebin, who is a class act. the ref let it go the first time and he stopped him when it became excessive. if that was anyone besides a thai doing that stuff in the way he did it, i don’t think anyone here would defend him.
gorillapalmz – I dont think its beyond the realms of possibility that Kulebin could posibly beat sudsakorn in a rematch but I agree I do think Sudsakorn is better and wold beast him 4 out of five times if you get what I mea?I think a rematch with these two would be much closer and possibly without the surprise knockout.I would have loved to see the fight go the 5 rounds think it would have been an all out war!
I was more concerned with the referee’s almost incabality to break up clinchs where nothing was happening. The ref looked to me to be really aprehensive and not at all sure what he was doing.I felt the telling off was a bit of a desperate attempt to assert some authority on something he didnt really know about??!!
@manant: yeah, man, i do know what you mean. i would definitely tune in to see them go at it again. lol. if kulebin could get some fights with some more prominent thai fighters (like pinca has done) to gain some experience, i think he could really be one of the great foreign fighters. i think the cut did get into kulebin’s head a bit and he felt like he had to race against the clock to get things done, which resulted in the unexpected ko. too much on his mind, i guess.
i get you on the ref issue. not great, but not the worst in my opinion. that would have to go to this genius, lol:

“i don’t think sudsakorn respected kulebin as much as you think he may have, he is always cocky regardless.”
Did you see Sudsakorn’s reaction after a KD? I don’t think that was a cocky reaction.
Sudsakorn was better, you could tell that even after 2 rounds, damn I really like Kulebin. Sudsakorn is great fighter but he’s exaggerating with his attitude.
Kulebin actually looked like he had a bit of a clue as to what to do in the clinch, which surprised me. I guess the training at Kheatkomtorn would explain that…And I didn’t see any reason why the ref *should* have separated them in the clinch, in his defense.
Yeah the clinching there is quite intense, he was clinching with detsuriya, nopparat and rungniran at their level which is quite an achievement.
you can tell the strength/comfort of his clinch now – he powerhoused kulebin, damn.
