This was my first time meeting with , per usual this is in Thai, but just turn on your closed captioning on youtube.  I didn’t get much of a chance to sit down and speak with him, but like most nak muay, he’s polite and congenial… none of the attitude that you see in the ring.  The interview was conducted at the Thai Fight show in Leicester England.

This was also the first time seeing him fight live, looking forward to seeing more of him in action.

  1. Thanks Nop!

  2. “If you fight under their terms, if you don’t knock him out, you’re going to lose.”
^This was a very interesting comment by Sudsakorn, because this is EXACTLY how western “kickboxing” stylists feel when they fight in Thailand. Especially alot of Dutch kickboxers i’ve seen in interviews. They truly think they won these decisions that they lost in Thailand.

It’s so interesting how the Thai perspective on fighting differs so much from the western, even though the same techniques are allowed. I think it’s just cultural conditioning, westerners are taught to think that if you’re hitting him with punches you’re beating him up and they don’t see how effective kicks and knees are. Thais IMO tend to downplay the punches, but not as much as westerners downplay kicks…..

This is why we really need a universal/unified set of scoring for Muay Thai, just like international boxing.

    Great interview Nop!

    • There is a universal/unified set of scoring criteria for muay thai, its just that an awful lot of westeners (and or non thais) havnt bothered to find out or learn what they are!

      • Agree with manant, it’s called Muay “Thai,” the way they score it in Thailand is the way it should be scored. When you modify the sport, and say there is no clinching, no elbows, 3 rounds, whatever, then it becomes something different, with its own set of rules. If a Thai fighter takes a kickboxing match he has to accept that and vice versa. The West can score kickboxing fights any way it wants, but when it comes to full rules 5 round fights, there is most definitely a universally accepted norm which has been in place for some time now..

    • Well MT has its unified rules, been in existence for some time now.If you gonna fight outside your comfort zone, you just have to learn the rules and how to win by them

  3. Petrosyan is just scared to fight full rules. It’s a shame, would like how he would do under full rules.

  4. Such a nice interview, really enjoyed it, never met him but seems to be a cool guy. Thanks so much, Petrosyan rematch FTR would be awesome but don´t see it happening, Petrosyan took the “Fedor”-route”, is well protected and can make enough bucks elsewhere.

  5. are you married?

sudsakorn: ‘hell nah, you know im a player doe.’

  6. lmfao @ SE. Thank you for the interview, this was the first Sudsakorn interview I have ever seen and he definitely seems like a dude I would hang with….lol. Thanx again, Nope!
