Spong v Corbett?

February 17th, 2008 · 13 Comments

A couple of months back and I had momentary lapse of retardation, when I asked if there was anyone out there to challenge Nathan Carnage Corbett. As an unabashed Spong nutugger, I was felt pretty embarrassed when “Stack” called me out on my stupidity.

I just came across an interview in Rogue Magazine where Tyrone calls out Corbett. Corbett had some words of his own…

“Yeah I will fight this guy any day- he’s the sort of guy I need. I haven’t had a challenging fight for a while and it will be a great feeling to rip him apart. I heard he had challenged me, so that’s good, will fight him anytime any day mate!” “I want to fight this guy full Thai rules and KO him, so he will know what it is to meet carnage!- I don’t like the K-1 style rules, never have mate- It’s full Thai rules”

I hope the guys at slamm put this on one of their cards, I’ll defiantly be there for that one.

Personally I think Spong can take Corbett, but he’s got to be perfect. Spong’s loss to Zeyada makes me think that if he got caught like that by Carnage he’s taking a nap.

What do you fellas think?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.

They’re both pretty the same weight, very talented and great fighters.
But I think Corbett will lose by decision. Spong is more powerful and more technical fighter. Of course anything can happen, but I go for Tyrone by unanimous decision.

corbett by KO if they fight with elbows . . .. i think he’s probably one of the best non-thais when it comes to the elbowing department.

After all what really matters, if this fight happens, this will be one of the best matches of the year.
Along with Yod vs Souwer… can’t wait!

Oh hey Nop, not a call out of your stupidity. There’s a lot of people I’d accuse of that but you’re not one of them. It’s just the logical matchup which porbably means they will both avoid it at all costs.

That kind of rhetoric they are trading between each other has happened before.

Really? What other Non-Thais have you seen use elbows?

I’ve seen Spong fighting @ full muay thai rules, @ slamm 3 Netherlands vs Thailand Spong is a complete fighter with a great technique, maybe corbett is better with the elbow, but he needs to come close first and that isn’t gonna happen against spong.

Win by decision for The King Tyrone
