Somluck vs. JCVD

We may not get Manny and Floyd… but if it’s any conciliation it looks like Somluck and VanDammage is still on! Ok, let’s face it… no fight is really going to fill my manny Floyd void.
So saw this article on the Bangkok post the other day… apparently they’ve signed contracts. According to the article Somluck is going to pocket about $100K from this! That is a hell of a lot of Moo Ping!
Seriously who’s putting this fight on? Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to seeing JCVD get smashed. Somluck isn’t going to train… he’s going to get in the ring with his gut and all its glory and he’ll put on a nice exhibition.

I can’t actually find any fight footage from VD’s career but the Wikipedia entry claims he’s 18-1. I wonder if he’s going to wear booties?
According to the article in the BP, Van Damme doesn’t want to allow the use of elbows… so it’ going to be K-1 all the way.

even without elbows it could be like what we have in uk a B class bout, thats MT scoring full use of clinch and knees to head just no elbows?unless it is going to be k1 rules?
Such an odd spectacle this is going to be.Unless its already comletely rigged I kind of have a bit of respect for JCVD for getting in and actually doing this (assuming it is a real fight and not total nonsense?)
After watchin gthe film “JCVD” I find myself liking Vandammage a lot more, I liked the self depricating manner inwhich he derided himself and the fact that the movie had a little more substance to it than the usual VD film, and that he seemed unashamed to do it?I actually thought he wasnt bad acting wise init either.
Id like to see more stars of screen figthing real fights “the UF could put it on as spectacle bouts for fun.Jackie chans prob the same weight as BJ penn!!

I agree with Frank- the chaiya elbows of Somluck are awesome- I always like to see his skills.
I have seen a real fight of Dolph Lundgren- not bad

I really doubt Somluck will go out there and tear JC a new asshole. He’s got to have some kind pity for the old action star.

per wiki it says all his 18 victories were KO’s. i could never imagine JCVD knocking fools out after hearing all these stories of him getting his ass whooped irl.

SE-well seeing as JCVD VS Somluck is so ridiculous and is going to be about as far from real MT as is possible to get I thought it would be fine to humour some more ridiclous martial arts prospects/matchups?Its only as unrelated to a site dedicated to MT as oregano oil which has its own full feature!!haha
I actually thought the concept of Somluck vs JCVD is pretty much as close to a usual sherdog thread as its possible to get already!
jackie chan never fought competitively though. jcvd did. and jcvd took ballet. honest truth i would LOVE to have the benefits of ballet. muay thai combined with ballet training[in secret, of course] would be insane.
the wikipedia account on JCVD also mentions that the winner of somluck and jcvd will go on to fight someone with the nickname “Squasher.”

i agree w/ manant, after watching “JCVD” i had a new admiration for him, besides he did make some good b-flicks in the early 90′s
i believe he fought tournament -style karate in belgium, make of that what you will…
there is a famous incident of him getting snaked by chuck zito (hell’s angel/character actor) at a strip club a few years back..apparently they had some words and jcvd started to take off specs..zito figured he meant business and blasted him…
how do u watch someone like somrak fight, then decide to fight him. at age 50, n shit.

i will do everything in my power to be at this event chanting “KUMITE! KUMITE! KUMITE! KUMITE!” whilst double fist pumping.
i will also have a big sign,[WWF style] that reads:”YOU ARE NOT A TANAKA”
after reading this i pulled out my dvds and watched somlucks tsunami benefit fight. JCVD is going to get his ass handed to him if Somluck takes this somewhat seriously. But i am a jcvd fan and would do anything to also be there scream kumate at the top of my lungs. Or wear a tong po shirt

SE I agree wholeharetedly imagine having ballet training along side fight training, or getting to to fighting after a long time doing ballet.As long as the agression could be mustered them dudes would be unstoppable, ballet or gymnastics!!Will this event actually be televised?
