This was one of the fights I was most interested in seeing.. Singmanee has just recently come off his Isuzu tournament victory… I was expecting quite a bit more.
He’s a former Raja stadium champ, spent some time, with Chuwattana, then ran into some issues.. I heard he did a stint in prison, but it wasn’t a question i was going to push him on. Then he gave it all up and went to do what seems like all ronin nak muay do, go work for Tiger Muay Thai. When I spoke to him he said he was done, and then he got a call from Kaewsamrit and decided to give it another go…
***Spoiler***
Which leads us to this fight… pretty lackluster performance. Most of the fighters I spoke with quietly admitted they thought he had lost the bout, that Benoui had done enough. I asked Singmanee what had happened ? He said he thought he had slept too much that day, and felt really sluggish, and dull.

His last fight was disappointing (robbery against Kulebin), his Isuzu win was disappointing (robbery against Superbon), and now this fight was dissappointing, allthough I definitely think he did enough to win it. I’m still pissed off Superbon was robbed in the finals, otherwise he would be fighting in Thai Fight, and I think he would be a far more motivated and attractive fighter than Singmanee. I guess this is due to his mafia connections. Would like to know why he did time though, anyone know this? I also don’t understand why Sittichai and Aikprecha are not included on the cards of Thai Fight.

Houcine is a beast, trains super hard and is a really nice guy. But I thought Signmanee won this..

I hope that Thai Fight starts putting together more competitive matches. There’s a lot of big names in England but none were on this card..?

Agreed, but I think it’s hard to list fighters that would do any good. Allthough kickboxing is boring and a handicapped version of Muay Thai, I do think that most western talents are signed with kickboxing organisation, while the remaining nak muays just can;t handle this level, like Dekkers, Bill, etc. did before. And this is due to the fact that fighters can earn way more money with kickboxing organizations. And allthough there are some great western nak muayz, I don;t see any talent rise while the money in Muay Thai is less for westerners. It’s the reason why Holland don;t have any good Nak Muays anymore.

Well, the card had Liam Harrison and Jordan Watson on it, but they weren’t matched up with the Thais. I’d much rather see Singmanee vs Liam and Buakaw/Sudsakorn vs Watson than those guys vs the less experienced opponents they were matched with. In this case it seems like they had better fighters they just didn’t put them against each other. I understand promoting the sport and the superiority of the Thais (if the latter is indeed the case) I just hope that once this thing gets more established we will see some better matches. The quality of the show is awesome and they get some big names on it but the fights are usually ehhhh. I don’t know if that will be successful forever..
I did just read on ax that the next event in France will feature Saiyok vs Pinca so that is great.

nd some other great news: Saenchai is fighting Damian Alamos in France in september, but not for Thai Fight though.

Yeah I think Sam-A is having his first international fight on that card as well. Seems like Muay Thai is on the rise too..but definitely not the same money as kickboxing, yet.

hi. just to clarify a bit – i have no idea what his prison stint would have been about, but it would have been after leaving chuwattana and his arrival at tiger. tiger had been offering his a gig while at chuwattana and, from my recollection, for quite awhile. one of the reasons for leaving for tiger was that it was financially better for he and his family as, at that time, he was getting very few fights in bangkok.
