Schilt vs. Aerts ’08 K1 Final 16

September 28, 2008 by nopstar

This was from yesterdays K1 action in Seoul Korea.  I guess this was for bragging rights for the Netherlands… thanks to Gusnark aka Sandjora for emailing these and sharing with our community.

Part I

!Spoiler Alert! do not read the commentary below the 2nd clip as it contains a big ass spoiler!

Part II

Hallelujah! I’ve waited what seems like ages for this.  I can’t tell you how much I dislike Schilt.  He’s like the Tim Sylvia of K-1… albeit with loads more talent (sorry Sem).  I’m loving the female announcers… I’m not sure what she was saying in the Badr v HMC fight, but it was pretty hot… I think it was pretty clear she’s got a hard on for Aerts.

I know Aerts is considered ancient for the sport, but is it me, or does he seem like he’s never in shape?  Yes he’s a heavy weight, and i can’t expect the same work rate as the MAX guys… but the guy just hasn’t seemed sharp to me in a long time.

I think his tactic of hugging Schilt was a great idea, it saved him from taking too many knees to the dome.  It was nice to see Remy cheering against Schilt as well… actually the last Slamm event I was at, Aerts, and Remy, were sitting together at the same table.

All in all I think this fight was ave for K1 GP, but I’m just happy I won’t be seeing Schilt in the finals this year. How about you?

I’m not a fan of the heavyweights. But I do like Aerts. And I particularly like him when he spanks a giant :)

I actually thought the fight was pretty exciting. It wasn’t pretty, but with a size discrepancy like that you couldn’t really ask for more.

    Nopstar—The Tim Slyvia of K1 . . . Ouch!

    :)

I pretty much hate K-1. But this year’s GP is a fairly big improvement over their past ones. I like how Aerts is issued the pull over shin guards on both shins now.

OEWH HAPPY DAYS!!! Props to Aerts for that fight:) and he’s in good shape I think, he’s just getting older, look at sefo, he isn’t as chiseled as he once was to say the least:p

We probably all dislike Schilt, since he’s a giant and awkward fighter. He totally disappointed me last year, where he was against Earts in the final, who injured himself. Schilt was sooo happy that he won the title and didn’t had to fight. What an awkward person, no fighting spirit at all. If he was an average guy, we would never heard of him.

I’m really happy that Earts beat him. He really is the man, I hope he wins the title. There’s some talking that he will face Hari in the Final.
Nopstar, Earts is 38 years old and he was never ripped. But he has power to KO anyone. What would you say for Gokhan Saki then, hehe.

I wonder how much you have to pay to watch a couple of guys who look like amateurs in their first fight:p

    Frank- Agreed!!!
And Yeahh Schilt is out, but why did Aerts have Shinguards on??

  7. Stack on September 28th, 2008 3:11 pm

Schilt had some bad injuries on his shins a while back.

Now they bleed pretty freely with the slightest contact. I’m assuming because a big enough draw with K-1 he’s been green lit to wear the black padded tube socks in all bouts since and Aerts has done just that.

Now I hate K-1 and have for quite some time but to be 100% fair Aerts really was something special to watch back in K-1′s better days of basically being modified Muay Thai which it really isn’t any more.

Now it’s really kickboxing with some limited clinch knee.

Thanks for these Nop but K-1 to me is negligible entertainment and best and actively offending at worst.

I mean Aerts had some bad injuries please excuse the brain misfire.

    Peter Aerts vs. Badr Hari

Aerts is a legend, but K-1 just isn’t the same without Mr. Perfect.

I want to know if there was anyone NOT rooting for Aerts.

Damn it, my hero Schilt lost…

    just kidding

I always liked Aerts. His kicking prowess is legendary! He KO’d quite a few opponents with those kicks. He was pretty slim back in the early days of Chakuriki gym.

Stack thanks for Clearing that up. Schilt is a Big Monster, and I kindda feel sorry for him after seeing everybody diss him(Including Myself). He is the Best SuperTall fighter I have ever seen! Even though it looks akward and Slow! Three Titels speaks for itself, Size CAN make a difference, but its not a Rule.

    my prediction:
    Aerts vs Badr: (probably) Aerts
Remy vs Jerome: (could be interesting but I think) Jerome..
Saki vs Karaev: Saki (because of Karaev’s lousy defence)
    Zimmerman vs Texeira: Definitely Zimmerman
