Happy new years MMT! I hope everyone had a safe and eventful new years. I just got back from BKK, where I was there for an excruciatingly short amount of time. What a great way to start off the new year with a little Sanchai and Nong-O action. I was unable to make it to this fight as regrettably I was in a cab on the way to the airport.
I’m not sure how many times these guys have faced each other, I want to say 3? Sanchai seems to be Nong-O’s kryptonite. Nong-O has been putting away other nak muay’s and just can’t rest until he get’s over his Sanchai hump! Apparently he personally asked the promoter to if he could have a rematch with the Dr.
It looks like Nong-O actually came in with a bit of a game plan. He’s quite vigilant with his guard, doesn’t want to make the same mistake twice. I’m not entirely I agree or understand the decision. I thought he had him…
As always, thanks to SSTV and Banana128 for the upload.

I think Nong-O got robbed, Saenchai was fancy but i think Nong-O was the clear winner. Oh well, must be a betting thing…
Even these guys think Nong-O was robbed.

hahahah nice one. Shit now I’m really bummed I missed the fights. I heard they got Clinton to do a cameo for when he was in town.

nong-o was overwhelming our beloved sanchai towards the later rounds. sanchai didnt really have an answer. the fight was getting super intense in the later rounds. i almsot had to turn it off.
January 3, 2011 at 3:39 pm
WOW that was awesome. its funny to see what a clinch becomes when two seasoned vets recognize and respect eachother’s clinch game – round 5 clinch was just straight violent. nong-o should’ve gotten it with his round 5 perfomance…saenchai on his back foot (not willingly like usual) AND a cut? damn.
January 3, 2011 at 7:05 pm
when i watched this I thought saenchai won?Gona watch again now cause i seen so many comments saying people reakon nong o won?
January 3, 2011 at 11:55 pm
have to agree w/ manant, here’s why :
1) nice hands from nong-o, but not enough…dr. wasn’t too bad either, check rds 3 & 4 where he throws a short right and then elbow
2) nong-o kicked more, but so what? sanchai either blocked or dodged most of them (that said, nong-o was def looking for the high kick ko right off the bat)
3) clinches were fairly even, would’ve liked to see the ref let a few go longer
i’ve only ever seen sanchai fighting westerners, he had a look on his face in the 4th, against the ropes, like “WTF !”
didn’t even realize he was bleeding until after fight, from what?
January 4, 2011 at 12:06 am
celtic1967, that largely sums up what I thought, I admit that Nong o kicked more but there aside from the ones that were blocked/dodged when they did land on arms or cleanish they had no effect.Clinches were evenish, saenchai had him off totally in first 3 rounds tho?Looked like saenchai gassed a bit towards the end but still did enough to win
January 4, 2011 at 1:05 am
yeah saenchai did get that ONE punch and elbow hit in……
saenchai fights everyone….this should be known.
he got cut from an elbow i believe. but it was hard to see could very well have been a punch.
the thing that got me was saenchai walking backwards later and having nothing to answer nong-o’s attacks really.
January 4, 2011 at 1:19 am
Daaaaaamn! that was a good fight. I say Draw! but i can see why they gave to Saenchai. Awesome pic (Tibun),haha!
January 4, 2011 at 2:07 am
loco,
would be curious to know if anyone’s seen or heard of draw at thai fights…think there has to be a decision for gambling’s sake…was i only one who thinks nong-o had bad intentions from the start? not the usual feeling out as most thai fights, going for blood right away and not even touching gloves at one point…not too much embrace afterwards…
January 4, 2011 at 2:16 am
Celtic, I was wondering the same thing about calling a draw in thai fights and how some gamblers would go nuts. As far as Nong-O and his intentions, I agree. He was out for a reckoning! No hugs?!
January 4, 2011 at 2:50 am
yeah dude he was all business. he wants to fucking get revenge….. wouldnt doubt if he stayed up many a night thinking about finally getting his win. sportsmanship comes second. saenchai can give you a glove tap then knock you out 3 seconds later. fuck that. lol
January 4, 2011 at 3:30 am
@Nop
haha, i bet Bill Clinton visits Thailand regularly!!…mmmhmmm.
January 4, 2011 at 7:26 am
I don’t see how Nong-O wins this fight. It’s Thai boxing 101, you cannot win a fight in Thailand backing up. He literally was running from Saenchai for the first 4 rounds. The only time he actually moved Saenchai back was in the last 2 minutes of the 5th round. Saenchai gets the nod on ring control and footwork alone in my book. As for the rest of the fight, I have to agree with Celtic’s points 1-3 that he made. Nong-O just didn’t do enough.
January 4, 2011 at 2:48 pm
As far as draws go, while I wouldn’t call them common, they’re out there. I prefer draws to handing a decision to one fighter if it was a really close, tough fight.
January 4, 2011 at 10:20 pm
to those who think moving backwards loses you a fight, well ….it doesn’t as long as you are effectively moving backwards evading and striking and Nong O was…. landing clean roundhouse kicks 3 times to senchai’s 1 … realize why senchai was backing off towards the end was he gassed many of his fights he backs up and wins the entire fight so why does he win he is still effective while moving backwards.
For me Nong O took this fight clean and the only thing I saw Senchai do that earned him accolades was a spin that threw Nong O into the ropes and he showed dominance in that instance other then that he was outscored and his clinch nulified.
January 4, 2011 at 11:52 pm
@ MT Guy. – If that were really the case, Nong-O would have gotten the win. I’m not gonna get in a long-winded debate about how the Thai’s judge their fights, but the fact remains, unless you’re putting a beat down on your opponent, landing clean and damaging kicks, knees and elbows, and dominating the clinch, noboby at any stadium in Thailand is gonna consistently give you W’s while you back peddle for 4 rounds. Nong-O didn’t do any of the above in this fight, thus, he walked away with the loss.
January 5, 2011 at 12:26 am
i think he walked away with the loss because hes lost the prior fights and had to make a more noticeable effort to get the victory. similar to how people trying to beat the champion have to get a very decisive victory.
January 5, 2011 at 12:35 am
@ Nevada watch the fight he put more of a beat down on Senchai then anyone else has to date in the stadium and not only that took absolutely no damage I would love for you to say to senchai the kicks had no effect he was gassed for the final round good indicator they had plenty of effect and neither scored good knees not only that senchai was cut seems to me he did exactly that!
January 5, 2011 at 12:56 am
way I see it was the stadium and sinbi who does a lot for the stadium had way to much to loose on this night the punters all loose and cannot come back to gamble for the next 3 weeks I dont want to get into a “long winded speach” on how the politics work there but it seems obvious to me and p.s I understand thai scoring so I don’t need a speach.
January 5, 2011 at 3:03 am
for real. we dont need to learn “thai boxing 101″ from nevadamuaythai….
January 5, 2011 at 4:45 am
from what i understand it’s the thai scoring system. i was at the fight and like many thought nong-o had it. but after i heard that apparently when saenchai got nong-o in the clinch through the ropes it just tipped the scales and he won it at that point.
January 5, 2011 at 5:09 am
wow
January 5, 2011 at 6:15 am
Look guys, I realize most of the people that post here know the sport and follow it closely. I simply stated my opinion on why I thought Saenchai won the fight. I feel and still do that the fight was fairly judged and that’s why he won. There are others here that feel differently and think Nong-O was robbed of the W for various political and/or economic reasons, that is fine. I disagree. For the record, I never said i was going to give a “speech” on judging and scoring, I’m am not nearly that arrogant. I said I don’t want to get into a long winded “debate”, and that is all.
January 5, 2011 at 8:06 am
who knows lol?! i am still baffled by thai scoring despite how many fights i watch here. the only english-speaking person i know that can give any accurate insight into the system is rob cox — and i believe that info about the ropes came from him. he’s the man to ask!
when thais try to explain it i get lost. . .
happy new year by the way to all mmt peeps. . .
January 5, 2011 at 2:45 pm
saenchai defo won this.Maybe rounds 3+4 could be arguably a draw but saenchai wins round 5 definately. If in the case of the judges had scored it even for 3, 4 and 5 then they would go back and look at first 2 rounds which saechai won easily especially the first round. That said I think nong o took the 3rd round and possibly a nod to saenchai in the fourth?, but at the end of the fight you could see even nong o knew hed lost?
January 8, 2011 at 1:49 pm
thought i would mention last night there was a draw at lumpinee, one side of the crowd started going crazy and the ref brought both fighters back in the ring and they read the scores on the speakers and red was declared the winner, it was nuts lol
