This was a great opening fight, I have to be honest I hadn’t seen or heard much about prior to this fight.

I’ve seen Stevelmans on several occasions on MAX and other cards and I was pretty surprised with his performance.  Stevelmans who’s got some of the best hands in Dutch MuayThai seemed to have his explosive hands neutralized from the start of the opening rounds.

I’m sure it was some of Saiyoks vicious leg kicks that made Stevelmans think twice about stepping in for some more.

After the event I briefly met up with Dan Green who’s the Head of Promotions for the MSA shows here in the UK.  I would really like to see the MSA bring Saiyok over to England.  I guess we would need to find him an appropriate opponent wouldn’t we?

You can see it in Stevelman that by the second round he’s officially lost the will to fight.  I’m not saying that he rolled over… but you could tell that he was no longer really motivated to continue.

I’m really interested in seeing him on future cards?  Have any of you seen him in his previous fights?  Any of you trained with him?

  1. Ive been following Saiyok for some time now… I really love his style. He looks so vicious, Ive heard he’s really nice outside of the ring though.

He fought Samrangchai twice I think? Once in Thailand and again this year in Sweden.

Heres a vid of him on pads: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzVgEZPLM4g

  2. Very impressed by Saiyok. He had solid hands that’s setup his kicks and his clinch work was strong. Aggressive and exciting fighter. Hope to see more of him.

  3. Saiyok seems like he’d be a good representative of muay thai internationally. Movement is very Thai, but also very aggressive and really mixes it up (boxing, elbows, knees, throws, low kicks, high kicks…)

  4. saiyok aka man of many ticks is a solid fighter. hhis explosiveness allows him to defend against foreigners using pure agressiveness against a thai opponent. which is kinda what happened in the other fights.

  5. where from thailand is saiyok? he’s got an interesting look.

blisteringly friggin fast. saiyok for prez.

  6. I’m very impressed with Saiyok here, there’s something about the way he fights that I find aesthtically very pleasing; aggressive, strong, explosive with a full complement of weapons, all of which he used very well. Looking forward to more of this guy in the future. Anybody knows where he trains?

  7. I trained at windy sports gym with Saiyok and Samkor, both beasts in their own right…

  8. I really liked his style too.

  9. What weights does saiyok fight between? He looks massive? It would be a step up but I would love to see Jordan Watson from Bad company fight some quality Thai opponants. He’s bloody awesome. And in the fights iv seen him in Iv never seen him really challenged.Hes like a farrang muay thai robot. But maybe this would be a big step?

  10. ^ manant: yes, stevelmans looked TINY compared to saiyok. i think that was a big part of the fight, to be honest. i think this was even more of the case in the khamal/anuwat fight.

  11. Hi, im in bkk training in saiyok’s gym, and here everybody was sure, he will smash stevelmans. Only see him training is awesome, maybe he havent got Knockout power like anuwat or bovy, but he is very fast too fast, and he has a very smart training for this fight, maybe was but for stevelmans that everybody knows his style and nonbody knows saiyok styile.
By the way, he looks bigger but i think is because stevelmans is short, saiyok is normaly 69 kilos. Before when fight in thailand he does on 63, he is not to big.

  12. That was a demolition job, although I like Stevelmans ( tough, technical, powerful with good stamina), but Saiyok is in different league.
Saiyok already impressed us in Slamm5. Very technical, fast and strong fighter.

  13. he kinda fought different than most thais. almost like some dutch shit. his cornerman didnt look thai?…..

his KO power is questionable from the few fights ive seen but i dont think thats a problem.

  14. Hey Shinji, what’s the name of the gym where Saiyok trains? I googled both Windy Muay Thai Gym and Pumphanmuang gym but got nothing…

  15. Hoyboy-

I’m pretty sure he’s fighting out of MuayThaiplaza2004.com …. I did a session there a couple of years ago.

  16. He reminds me of an early Yoddecha Sityodthong, same stance, hard punches and his signature legkicks. Just a lefty version.

  17. I guess he’s more like Changpuek since he’s lefty, just much cleaner. Chang was pretty ugly in his style, but still a killer.

  18. thanks Nopstar!

  19. I had a chance to meet Saiyok briefly when he came to Canada recently and he really seems like a humble and nice guy. Polite and can speak a little english too. Then he proceeded to break his opponents arm with those devastating left kicks and I have been a huge fan ever since. You can see the determination in his eyes, he is going to be the next big thing at 67 kg.

  20. I’ve only seen the few online fights but I can see definite progression since his last SLAMM fight. His training seems to have been faster paced this time around and much more determined, like you said.

  21. nice high gard.

    H

  22. in response to Nathan’s last comment. I noticed all the thai guys had a harder and faster pace. I was talking about it with my trainer at work last night and he told me guys like Saiyok and Anuwat have picked up a much more furious pace to make it more competitive against dutch kickboxer styles who come hard and fast.

With that being said i was so impressed with Saiyok, i’ve only seen him fight once now but wow what a fight. Great kicks set up with punches, strong clinch and would not back down and used that elbow nicely to stop warrens hands advancement.

I can’t wait to see him scrap again

  23. I was reading muaymag.com today and they mentioned that Saiyok is scheduled to fight Andy Souwer and Giorgio Petrosyan. Has anyone else heard about this?

I also read on HKL that Kem Sitsongpeenong (formerly Khem Fairtex) is scheduled to fight Petrosyan in March 2010 under K-1 rules.

I hope these fights happen; I’d love to see them!
