This were a few muay thai shows this past weekend, the one that caught my eye was the Prince’s cup put on by Khun Thakoon of Sasiprapa in Ratchaburi.  I’m still waiting for footage from the event to trickle in.  I heard the best match of the evening was Rungravee Sasiprapa vs.Stephen Mealody of Ireland.

Props to the Yokkao folks for sharing this footage with us, we seem to missing round 3, I’m sure it was pretty much identical to the rest of these rounds.  I don’t really know anything about Semata, I see from his Fbook page he’s from Uganda.

Anyway, don’t recall Saenchai ever going to the legs as much…

Round 2

Round 4

  1. Man this Umar guy looks like he’s carved from freakin stone! …black african genes….looks like he got beat up the whole fight though, but who doesn’t get beaten up by saenchai. Thanks for the post.

    • He also moves like he’s carved out of stone…ZING!!! Only kidding, i’m just biased towards chubby boys like myself lol.

Does anyone know if Thailand has a significant african community? It’s kind of strange that this guy from Uganda of all places is living and fighting in Thailand.

      • Im from South Africa and there are a few of us floating around Thailand (unhappy to still be in SA right now) but not enough to say a community though…

A few friends were at Lamai gym , Koh Samui recently and said there was a Ugandan guy that was really strong, wonder if its the same one? Boxing and karate/Judo have always been big in that area of Africa so why not evolve to Muaythai?

        • Very cool, thanks for the info. A lot of African countries have some very athletic people, i saw a documentary on the Senegalese wrestlers in western africa, those guys are remarkable physical specimens, all natural physiques too. Good to see more exposure in other sports.
