Saenchai’s got skills take II

July 9th, 2007 · 16 Comments

For those of you who are familiar with Saenchai’s handy work, you’ll recognize what’s going on in the picture below. I’ve done some posts on him in the past; you can find them on the Saenchai’s profile page.

Saenchai Sor. Kingstar

The Matrix - Muay Thai Style

As I’ve previously mentioned, he’s been active fighting in Japan. He’s basically run out of competition in Thailand and is in Japan looking for fights. Apparently he fought just a few days ago… His opponent Ishige is a number 1 ranked fighter in Japan. I think I read on the forums that he gave up 2.5-3 kg. (6 lbs) in this fight, and easily won the decision.

If you’re not familiar with his fighting style check out this fight with Fabio Pinca. It’s crazy how skilled he is. If you watch the fight, you’ll see he’s just having fun with the guy. This is pretty much how bad my trainers Bunkerd or Nuengsiam clown me.

So if you’re still scratching your head, wondering what the hell is going on in the picture (above) watch this clip. This footage comes by way of “Hellfighter” and “Sitfairtex” of the K1 Fans forum. Thanks very much for uploading and sharing with us. In this clip you can see Saenchai working the pads at the 13 coins gym. Keep an eye out for his “patented move”…

He’ll be fighting in Japan again, this time against Abbas Ahmadi (Rompo gym) from Iran at the next Muay Thai Open on July 29.

He praised Ishige, but the weight surely affected his performance.

Seanchai…..that’s my man…..that Capoeira kick is funny as hell, I don’t even think he’s really tryin to hit his opponent…I think it’s just for fun.

He’s only 56 kilo’s ? I would like to see him in the K-1 but i thinks thats too much weight to put on , given his height.

That’s badass. Looks like a very flashy move and probably more for show than anything else.

Has anyone noticed that many Thai fighters (including Saenchai) remove their ankle supports in the later rounds, like in rounds 4 and 5? What’s up with that?

Does that kick come form Muay Boran? He always likes to use it when his opponents are tired and frustrated. Saenchai has so many tricks up his sleeve his opponents don’t know what hit them. If they put him in the muay thai contender then my money is on him to take it all. Thanks for posting the vid of him training.

The fight with Pinca was bad enough, but if you want to see a real clinic, you should watch his fight with Kenji Takemura. Part one here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMyQgzCrVw8, and part two here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIUVybpzfZw. He pulls out the whole bag of tricks, including that patented kick.

    Dave and Joe-

I’m not ignoring you guys… I’m gonna ask around tomorrow night during training.

    Hey Dave-

My trainer Neungsiam says it’s purely psychological, he’s done the same in the past. He say’s by the 4th round the ankle guards are soaked with sweat. He says when they get like that it makes him feel slow.

On a side not, trainer fought Saenchai for the vacant 115 lbs. lumpini title. He says it was a really close match, that he lost it in the 5th.

Thanks for the answer! Everyone at my gym was stumped…

Hellfighter on K-1fans just put up a post that saenchai is teaching and instructing at a gym in Bangkok that is coveniently located at a hotel. This will be a good reason to take some time off of work soon. Here’s a link to the hotel/gym:

  • 13 Joe // Jul 15, 2007 at 11:03 pm

did i mention that in that link it says that if you stay at the hotel then training is free!!(is that a typo??)

  • 14 SpydaMan // Jul 16, 2007 at 6:31 am

Joe, I don’t know if it’s a Typo, I thought to myself that maybe the Hotel pays him. If so, it may cost a fortune to stay at the Hotel. At least that’s wut I thought to myself until I seen the rates to stay there. I’m guessing those are daily rates, right? or are those the rates from Jun 7th 07 til Sep 30th 07??

  • 15 Joe // Jul 17, 2007 at 5:12 pm

i believe those are per day rates. That still beats the price of staying at a holiday inn or motel 6 and you get free training! With the Dr. of Muay Thai. If ever there was a reason to come up with an excuse to go train in thailand this would be it.
