doesn’t get a lot of press. For being one of the more experienced and older fighters in the states it seems as though he is finally getting some of his due. Some of this might be because of his smaller weight class. Fighting at 118lbs he has to travel abroad or have opponents shipped in to find someone to fight him. Historically (at least in American boxing) lightweight fighters never garner the same attention and or money as the bigger fighters even though they tend to be more exciting and technical.

Adanza had a fight with “Boom” Watthanya at Lion Fight in Vegas about two weeks ago. The two met previously and Adanza was able to rock “Boom” with some hands and then finish him off in the second round with a knee to the head. Things weren’t looking too hot for Adanza prior to that though as “Boom” clinched up the Filipino and scored solid knees. The story of the fight was similar in content to his match with Lungsuanlek at the M-One Grand bouts.

Props to Scott Hirano for the picture.

About mlucas

Born to a working class family in rural New York I grew up working like a dog and drinking Natural light in the woods. After a brief stint attempting to escape the poverty of employment via university I gave up on escaping the grind and moved to sunny California where the burritos are as generous as the weather. I work in the service industry slinging booze and food. I got into Muay Thai as a recreational activity. I saw an interclub fight and decided to try it out, everyone has to test their mettle somehow. A few fights and a year later I was in Thailand training, and fighting. I haven’t quit stepping into the ring since. I currently live in West Oakland and balance my time blocking punches with my head with attempting to prevent brain deterioration through writing, studying Thai; language, culture and history, and going to wild dance parties with my friends.

  1. Romie has very dangerous hands and wicked low kicks. Very few have been able to neutralize both.
