Remy - World GP Taiwan

July 23rd, 2008 · 9 Comments

This is from the K-1 GP in Taiwan.  I didn’t bother watching any of the other fights.  If you guys know of any other interesting fights on the card let me know. I don’t have any info on Artajev, possible Kyokushin background?

Anyway, I’m not sure what Remys deal is?  He’s starts off with that incredible light spring in his step and then a minute or so later, he looks like entirely gassed?  Maybe he’s spending a little too much time with his sponsors…  Anyway here are some behind the scene pics from Remy’s website.

I’m not sure what the weight difference was, could have been a factor. Atajev looks like he’s got some serious heavy hands.  You would thought Artajev would have seen a Bonjasky reel… you can’t be ducking your head down when your fighting a guy called the flying Dutchman…

I think it was the shot to the hit that got him first round that really just messed him up through the rest of that round. The second round he came out sorta pissed it seemed and just started whaling on him but he gased himself out by the end of the round. But third round he just completely shut him down.

    Good Job Remy

I was disappointed with Remy here.
Ok, the 3th round was the good old Remy, but first two rounds… damn, he was really unconvincing and boring as hell. I agree with the sponsor thing, heh.

    Nopstar,
all fights from Karaev on this tournament were great! He simply demolished his opponents:

relentless low kicks. I just love his style of fighting. Remy and Hari are the only k1 HWs worth watching. I wanted how many broken toes Remy has suffered throughout his low kickin’ career….lol.

    Thanx for the vid

90% of Remy’s cut kicks in the first round were painful to watch. Horrible technique coming from a pro. Looked like he was leaning forward on almost all of them.

I have to agree with you frank i think he does lean forward to much on his kick,

pretty lousy fight in my opinion..
Remy’s atlethic ability, stamina and power seems to have been decreased greatly, it’s just painful to compare this with his champion years…

Even his technique was questionable, he had a couple of VERY good chances to end it in the first round with a well timed hook, after he did something good there was no follow up, this Remy doesn’t stand a chance against Hari if he keeps declining like this..

But heck I like him a lot, I hate to say this but it’s the truth, he may not be as done as a Mark Hunt or Ray Sefo but he’s done nonetheless, he isn’t that much fun to watch as he used to..

And the heavyweights in K1 STINK, the only fight I would want to see is Semmy vs Hari, and I pray to god that Hari wins, because of his height and quickness he might be able to pull it off? What do you guys think?

I meant the second round:) you can see his punches lack power, or he throws them not when he should

“he had a couple of VERY good chances to end it in the first round with a well timed hook, ” - Remy was NEVER reknowned for his boxing, everyone knows that his weakness.

“Remy doesn’t stand a chance against Hari if he keeps declining like this..” Remy just beat Hari in December.

He’s lost only 2 outta his last 10 fights stretchin from 06 til 08. Half of those win were via KO and other than his last fight (the one we’re commenting on) everyone of them were tough opponents (Hari, Manhoef, Aerts, Leko, Feitosa, Lebanner etc).

Let’s not be so quick to call him done because he isn’t as exciting as some of us would like him to be. I personally don’t see anythin exciting about Schilt, but he’s winning his fights and is nowhere near done (unfortunately).

Whatever Remy is doing seems to work very well for him. I do however have to agree with him not being as exciting in this fight…but I can’t judge him on one bad performance.
