Re-Match?
July 2, 2008 by nopstar
I know this is ages from now, but it’s timely. There has been some discussion about Thai fighters who don’t change their strategy to deal with different fighters or rules.

I saw this a while back but I didn’t read the fine print…

Full Thai Rules Bitches! I’ve already cleared my calendar… for yet another Slamm event. The usual suspects will be participating. Looks like Lamsongkram, and Bovy are new additions to the crew. I noticed that Yodsanklai’s name is on the poster… who do you think he’s fighting?
Initially I thought I was going to get The Rematch… aka Souwer v Yodanklai 2 but the more I think about it, I’m not so sure. I’d like to think Souwer would take the fight but I don’t recall him ever fighting full Thai rules. Can someone please confirm or disprove this?
I’d like to think the judging will also be Thai rules judging for the fights. So what do you think? Do you think this fight is going to happen? I don’t have any reason to believe otherwise, but my gut says it won’t happen.
What do you think?

Man, any every Euro MT fan needs to mark that day on his calendar. Hope I’ll be able to atend! Super pumped!
About the question, I’d like to see the rematch, but, Andy is not stupid. I’d like to see his ass kicked but…don’t think is gonna happen
Anyway, Yod deserves a rematch one day under any rules.

“Yodsaenklai is also scheduled to meet with Dutchman Marco Pique (Holland) in Almere Holland on 30 November in a SLAMM WBC championship promotion.”
:( gutted?
If they were to fight again, I’d expect Souwer to fight a lot differently. He had a plan against Yod the first time that was geared towards K1 rules. Now that it’s Thai rules, he would gear his training and fight strategy accordingly.
I’m not saying he’d win—though I think he’d do a better job than most people think—I’m just saying we shouldn’t expect him to fight the same way he did in their first encounter.
That’s one thing I think the K1-max dudes do better than nak muays—specific strategies for specific fights (and they’re able to implement the strategies).
All that being said, I hope Yod does some serious spanking!
:)
Quoting Wallace….

Poor Marco…XD
Fighting Maco Pique? Damn, Pique is good, but Yod will eat him alive. Lamsongkram and Bovy!! Hell yeah! Can’t wait to see Bovy in there! I have never seen him against a non-Thai.
Pique is great fighter. Had some bad luck in last fights. Didn’t saw his fight against Diesel, but he should won the fight with Dhzabar.
Guys, don’t expect Yod just to simply walk over him.
As I recall Buakaw had some troubles fighting him.
Anyways, Yod vs Pique should be a great fight.
I think Andy has the balls to take the fight but I just have the feeling that something will get in the way of it. Management, scheduling, whatever – I just don’t see it…
And no way would Yod lose to Souwer under full thai rules :)
Oh and Pique is good but too robotic for a top thai. Buakaw was outclassing him in the later rounds.
I hate to be so definitive about it but I do think Yod will take it easily.
