Hey guys, it’s the 20th and hopefully by the time you reading this, I would have retrieved my luggage and I’m in a cab heading to Soi Sutthisan.  I’m going to be in Thailand for the next couple of days.  I’ve got a bit of family things to do, but I do plan on heading out and getting some interviews.  If you see me running around at the fights, say hello.

This next fighter is one of my favorites hands down.  It’s Pornsaneh Sitmonchai, for those of you new to MMT, his fight from earlier this year was voted the fight of the year.   I’m hoping to make it up to Kanchanaburi  for the day for some training at Sitmonchai, and an interview with the man.

I’m pretty shit at interviews… never really quite sure what to ask.  So help me out.  Can you take this time to think about some questions?  What would you like to know about him?  I’ll be trying to check everyday from the road, it’s always a joy to see how your site looks in IE5 and on a 13” in monitor…

Spyda, I’m sure you muster a dozen or so.

This is ’s latest fight against Sitboonmee, has hit a bit of a rough patch since changing camps.  Let’s see if he get back on the winning side.

  1. mai,

So when I do interviews I write down as many questions as I can possibly think of that would be even the least bit relevant. I also try to research the person as thoroughly as possible. So when I interviewed Kevin Ross I actually went through and watched all of his fights to see how he fought, not that I ended up asking him how he fought but it did make me more familiar with him as a fighter. You could come up wiith some great questions if you see patterns of behavior in how a person fights… Then I keep my notebook in front of me with my list of questions and I try to make the conversation flowing rather than a series of interrogative questions. The other thing to do is to ask open ended questions rather than just simple yes or nos. I’ve found that doing interviews that way has been helpful for me.

  2. rob cox said that pornsaneh left with a pretty swollen and bandaged right arm.
seems like kongsak loves those fancy leftkicks : )

  3. I do not understand Pornaseh’s gameplan half the time, why does he fight eurostyle in the stadium… unless you knock them out with punching you will not win if you never throw a kick over the opponents waist until forced to… man his arm must have been beat to crap after that fight.

The last few of his fights I like his agrressivness and such but these fights of his could do wonders for educating referee’s, judges and fans in other countries…punches a low kicks do not win fights unless you knock them out by Thai scoring criteria … it looks to the average person watching that he is winning a lot of the time but that is not how it’s scored.

I wonder if he hopes to get attention from foriegn promoters I think if he beefed up he would have the right style and be great to fight the bigger falang fighters and make more money fighting them… if you get a chance NOP can you ask him if that is his goal right now.

  4. well I think he is already close to the big 30 and his optimal fight weight ist around 125lbs, so I don’t know if beefing up is a good option.
he is fighting these wars for years and at somepoint it will take its toll.

yeah and his gameplan is pretty one dimensional.
if it doesn’t work, he gets outsmartet and of course I would like to see him win at least a bit more recently.

  5. Dear All, I got footage is classic bout, karate vs muaythai. It was pure karate style against nakmuay. See this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=px1Ivctja4w

  6. lmfao @ “Spyda, I’m sure you muster a dozen or so.”

  7. @ banana 128, i was with Pornsaneh at the fights and yeah his arm copped most of those kicks and swelled up bad. He told me yesterday it still hurts a little.

@muaythaiguy, he’s already looking for fights overseas in Holland, England and Australia. The only problem is his weight. He’s so light it’s going to be hard to find opponents.

His style would be great for Europe and Australia.
He’s reached 30 and the other day told me that when he train’s he still feels strong, powerful and has plenty of energy. But it’s a different story in the ring. He said he doesn’t feel the way he used to when he fought in the ring a few years back.
