ong bak 3

February 3, 2010 by nopstar

I saw the movie poster and I thought that Jaa was taking a page from JCVD’s playbook and casting himself as his own uber nemisis… I’ve watched the trailer twice now, and I don’t think that’s the case.  The first OngBak was so dope… seriously they need someone like Ari Gold on the scene…  I’m talking shit now, but I’m sure I’ll dl when it comes out.  I’m not sure why they keep calling them OngBak, I think it’s got to be done for the benefit of westerners… at least Rambo, Rocky and Police Academy had some continuity.  He should just name it paycheck 3 innit.

The first one did wonders for Muay Boran/Chaiya  I know a lot of people went to MuayThai class thinking they were going to be learning lots of flying elbows and knees.

Loved Ong Bak. i thought the third one was terrible:( Hollywood style franchise, living off the 1st movie’s reputation.

Some more Thai films with muay thai involved :)

Dynamite Warrior (Khon fai bin) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0963915/

    Chocolate – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1183252/

    Chaiya – http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1090782/

    Remember it’s just a film :D lol

im totally down for all this shit.It seems fashionable for anyone invovled in Muay Thai to slate these films for some reason. They are totally absurd, they stor lines are poor, they badly acted, the martial arts arent real, but they are spectacular.I find it in no way hard work to suspend belief and get sucked in to daft action films and I think Tony Jaa does it better than anyone.

Even if its tongue in cheek everyones got mad love for van damn, etc.I mean nearly everyone loves rocky and rambo films and they are shit, jet lee, bruce lee, jackie chan etc etc, a;; rubbish but still great.I love martila arts films!!just about suspending belief then they’re enjoyable.

It cant be disputed how good Tony Jaa is as an action martial arts/gymnast film star aswell, I really think he is far and away the best. The only thing I cant understand is how come he hasnt been taught english and snapped up by hollywood,or for that matter hongkong or japan?
