The Rants and Ramblings of a Muay Thai Fan

On the Muay Thai Trail

November 16th, 2007 · 15 Comments

I was contacted by these guys a couple of days ago. What a great idea, I wish I would have thought of it. They are in the process of publishing “Muay Thai Uncovered” It’s sort of a “Rough Guide” to Muay Thai camps. Have you ever wanted to be trained by or train alongside one of your Muay Thai heroes? (One of the Authors had spent the month being personally trained by Numsaknoi for his upcoming fight.) What a lot of people don’t realize is the hardest part to making that happen is finding the gym.

So far they’ve profiled approximately 85 camps in Bangkok. The guides will have pertinent info on camps, like price, trainers, notable fighters and contact info. I was told that they’ve gone through particular lengths to find the best and easiest way to get to the camps. I’m definitely picking one up.

“Muaythai Uncovered: Thailand is a guide book to Thailand’s premier Muaythai camps. Our “snapshot” of the Muaythai scene in Thailand today shows you where you can train in Thailand and how to get there, details the cost and highlights the facilities of each camp and gives you the opportunity to make an informed decision on where to train in Thailand. Muaythai Uncovered : Thailand brings to you the Champions of Lumphini and Rajadamnoen Stadiums, the promoters and trainers responsible for their development and also the foreigners who are fighting to make their mark on Muaythai scene in Thailand today. The Muaythai Uncovered team has trawled the country to produce a unique publication which will open up to the foreigner a far greater choice in training camps than previously considered. The days of hearing about a professional Muaythai training camp in Thailand and not knowing anything about it are over!”

Its strange I’ve never understood those guys who road trip to different ball parks (obviously I’m not big on baseball) but I could actually see myself doing this. I’ve been meaning to explore more camps… this should make it a whole lot easier. I’ll be sure to let you guys know when this goes on sale and where you can get it.

Nice. Definitely interested in this. Heading over to Thailand in February or March and haven’t decided on a camp yet.

This comment is not related to this post but rather to one of the sites in your sponsored section. That Muay Thai Thailand “controversial” site, it’s lame, you should take that down.

That sounds awesome. Are they just doing camps in Bangkok or are they going to do other ones as well?
Either way, I’m still going to get it as soon as it comes out.

    Sakkis-

what you’re referring to is a paid ad on my site. (notice the “ads by google” image to the right of it) I don’t have any control over the ads that go there.

I agree it was probably a lame advert, but it’s how I pay for my hosting costs… so I encourage you guys to click away if you feel like it.

I’ve met one of the authors when he were visiting Keatkhamtorn gym in Bangkok. This is going to be an awesome book, they got GPS maps and everything to every single camp listed. He were doing research for very relevant and interesting information (in my eyes).

And no, they/he haven’t just been to Bangkok. He told me he got footage from gyms in Korat, Southern Thailand etc.

And on their website there’s picture of a muayying who fights for PKVillage in Pattaya, so i think it covers most of Thailand.

GPS info, sounds like a truly useful book!

Have you visited Rachdamnern promoter Yodwanpadeds gym in Bangkok (at the end of Soi Nuan Chan 16 - Lug-Tap-Agat Gym) and included it into your guide book?

See you in Phuket soon, I’m glad you won’t finish the book before visiting Sinbi :)
