What’s up fellas. Can you believe it’s that time of year again… I didn’t see this one coming for some reason, it felt like we just saw the MAX Finals. Well we are 6 days away from the 2008 K-1 World Max Finals. * Correction…. apparently they are splitting the final up? The next one is in Oct? Can someone please explain. I’ll do another post on your thoughts and predictions. In the meantime I’ve got yet another outstanding clip from Shunsuke to whet your appetite. I’ve watched this at least a dozen or so times, even though it’s essentially a Souwer tribute video. I suggest you turn this bitch up sit back and enjoy.
I enjoy Shunsuke’s clips so much I thought we’d do a quick interview with the man. I’ve always been curious how much work goes into these things. As I orginally suspected… a shit load. For those of you guys who don’t have access to veoh you can watch it here
So first of all, hats off to you yet again… Nemesis is tight, I think my favorite so far.
Thank you for the appreciation, i’m really proud of it ! It was a tough choice of music but it fits it pretty well !
How long does it take you from start to completion?
Depends what i want to do. Max Legends took me three months, i started in November 2007 , finished it in January 2008. In terms of hours, i would say 150 hours. Nemesis took me a month and a half. Something like 70 hours. I used a new program for Max Legends so i had to get used to it. The HL that took me the most time is Masato Revolution, because my computer was always crashing when i didn’t save for hours. It crashed a lot i wanted to throw it away. It takes more time now since i try to do something more pro. I made World Max Elite in 4 days, Max rocks in a week or 2, Masato Kohi rivalry in 2 days.
Do you do this for a living or is this strictly hobby?
I’ve done this till now as a hobby, to get motivated and motivate people to train. But i’ve received a lot of demands for Videos. I could say it helped me to get some work, on another note, i made some Designs and Brand’s logos for fighters ( Kamal El Amrani and Stefan Leko ) posters for Seminars such as Andy Souwer, Ernesto Hoost, Stefan Leko Mannaart …. Have a look at Strikezonedortmund.eu and http://www.k-1starslive.com/ Posters of seminars are made by me. ( you can promote K-1starslive.com hehe ) ITS GREAT !
I love drawing creating stuff with photoshop.( I started with DBZ drawing lol )
And it looks like Andy Souwer and Team Souwer Management appreciated my work, they put the Nemesis HL on the website ! I was all excited ! I would love to work into audiovisual business.
I’ve always found the music in your clips to be so diverse… do you start with the Music first and then add the clips? Or is it the other way around.
yes i always start with the music first ! There’s always image of fights in my head when i listen music that moves. I try to make something up in my head. When i find the good music, I think i listen to it a million time so the image comes, i take notes. (http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/9408/noteszq7.jpg <- some notes for Max Legends )
I remember when i made Masato Revolution, i wrote down every single hit of Masato in each of his fights ( Hook, Uppercut, Jab, Middle , HIgh, Knee, dodge, combo etc … ) with the minute and seconds marks.
I could say 70% of the Highlight is made before i even start cutting clips ! Of course there are stuff you create in the middle of the HL, without wanting it at the beginning, a clip put at the wrong place, you’re like : whoa it’s pretty good actually!
I listen to every kind of music. That’s why it’s diverse, some time ago, i got a message on my youtube page, it was a video with a lot of different people playing guitar, i loved it. It was canon rock, then i made Max Rocks. I wouldn’t have made Nemesis with this song if my roommates didn’t show it to me. I was planning to make a Souwer HL with another music before, but then i heard it, i knew it would fit the atmosphere of the HL.
Do you fight or train? If so, what style?
I train and fight in MuayThai. I’m amateur in Class C. Hopefully Class B one day.
Muay Thai changed my life, for real. And there ’s no better feeling than giving all you have at training !
It’s no secret you’re a Masato fan… any chance any of us BPP nuthuggers will get every get a Buakaw HL from you?
Yeah i think he deserves a more deep HL. I’m not done making HLs so yes i think so ^_^.
Merci
You’re welcome.

Great clip! Usually the music sucks in those highlights, but his were always ok.
“Splitting the final up”
I’ve commented that shit ones.
Well, a simple thing to answer.
Masato is not of a man enough to fight 3 opponents in on one evening. hehe
So, the administration thinks he can fight 2 opponents and wins the Final. Then Masato can become the greatest legend of all legends ever and forever and finally retire.
Thanx for the youtube links.

I’m actually a professional motion graphics designer. Even from my eyes I can see that the shunsuke has taken alot of time to pick out the shots and cuts carefully. I can really see the love in the work. Although still rough around the edges, I can see the potential for him to be a great editor one day.
Thanks for all the awesome HL’s. As a muay thai and graphics fan, I’ll continue to look forward to your work.
