Namkabuan vs Orono

April 20, 2009 by nopstar

I thought we’d go old school this week.  Props to Hellfighter of the K1 forums for uploading and sharing with us.

This week, we’ll be profiling fights from the early nineties.   For those of you who are new to MuayThai, these two fighters are considered legends in our sport.  The nak muay in red is Namkabuan Nongkee Pahuyuth and blue is Orono Por Muang Ubon.

Saw this one live, February or March of 1995. First trip to Lumpinee. I didn’t know him at the time, But Rob Cox was in attendance, too.

    quick points:

    1) gotta love those little clip elbows orono kept throwing in the clinch
    2) this match shows that at the top levels, it’s all about the grappling/clinch
    3) much respect shown to each other…nice to see :)

Orono Por Muangubon is great. Unlike a lot of Thaiboxers who feel out for a few rounds Orono just goes directly in to fight.

What is the man with mic saying when he asks Namkabuan to turn around and show his hair tail?

I already downloaded Hellfighters “Golden Era” all 7 downloads Too. I saw this fight also, and all the other fights are Super filled with Clinch skills, that you will only find in Thailand. Its a pot of muay thai Gold, and I am so hyped that I have all these hours of MT fighting in my possesion. Super fights, and in full Thai rules, the best!!
