I’m kind a sucker for these compilation videos… and to be honest 50% of this isn’t muaythai. How is ground and pound muaythai?
I know a lot of the Thai old timers/legends have been in the States for decades training Americans. Saekson, Bunkerd, Coban, et al. That being said, I credit Anderson Silva for introducing muaythai to mainstream America.
I remember the moment, it was his first fight with Rich Franklin, where he clinched him up and abused him. (see 1:17) I was absolutely stunned at Franklin’s defense, (which was to put his hands down) that’s MuayThai 101. If some of you are reading this and you don’t know what I mean, ask your trainers. If your trainers don’t have a clue then pack your bags because your kickboxing.
After that fight everyone was talking about the muaythai “plum”… anyway, you’ll catch some of his upward elbows in the clip (3:26) , pretty devastating…

May 27, 2010 at 9:13 am
Hah whats the name of that Thai song at the beginning? That gets played at the end of almost every session at MTA. Also pretty sure thats Malaipet at 2:30.
May 27, 2010 at 10:03 am
djmattyd: That infamous song is Mike Piromporn ???? ???? ???? ??? (Mut Tao Kao Sauk): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbymgQvLRdA
Nopstar: I agree, it seems that every since Silva destroyed Franklin so easily, Muay Thai in MMA has received a lot of focus even to the extent where it becomes a bit irritating that the commentators call any elbow, or knee a Muay Thai elbow or a Muay Thai knee, and a front kick is a teep – even a sloppy front kick. What were those techniques called before Muay Thai hit the mainstream? ;-)
May 27, 2010 at 10:45 am
wow…cross posting this trash from the k1 site. not good. that ‘highlight’ video is absolutely fucking stupid.
May 27, 2010 at 11:45 am
@Nopstar – Just discovered your site. Really good stuff. Just reading up on all the old posts. Keep up the good work
May 27, 2010 at 12:47 pm
Anderson silva has really good muay thai skills. His clinch is devastating.
May 27, 2010 at 12:53 pm
Does anyone in the group play PS3. If yes try UFC Undisputed and its really awesome. Though its a MMA game u can always knockout oppenets using muay thai moves. Anderson silva rocks.
May 27, 2010 at 1:01 pm
Actually there is a muay thai fight video of anderson silva in you tube. Check it out using the link below.

May 27, 2010 at 1:53 pm
Cool vid. Pride was brutal !
May 27, 2010 at 5:59 pm
Most of the PRIDE era Chute Boxe fighters (Wanderlei, Anderson, Shogun) displayed a lot of devastating Muay Thai. I still wince whenever I see a highlight reel of Wanderlei kneeing Rampage.
May 27, 2010 at 6:12 pm
@GlegSorChaoPhraya
I dont think that’s the one I am looking for.
I mean the song at the very beginning of the video.
May 28, 2010 at 2:09 am
I lol every time I see Franklin being KOd by Silva. How sad is it that a professional fighter doesn’t know how to defend against something as simple as the clinch he was in? Let alone not learning from your mistakes at all and getting clowned by the same thing again.
May 28, 2010 at 11:01 am
you guys need to check out jose aldo’s last fight against faber
May 29, 2010 at 1:31 pm
@GlegSorChaoPhraya, muay thai recieved alot of focus during the Pride day, Shogun Rua have the most devastating muay thai in mma today. Hes also 12-0 in muay thai fight. Cant wait until Shogun fight Anderson Silva.
May 29, 2010 at 11:12 pm
i watched the aldo/faber fight again last night. always puts a smile on my face. that butt chinned poser finally got a proper beating that exposes the stupidity in his fighting style. hwho the fuck is that clown looking thai guy in fabers corner? gives MT a bad name. i never once thougt faber was agood fighter. from when i first saw him to when the hype started to build.
May 30, 2010 at 1:50 pm
“If your trainers don’t have a clue then pack your bags because your kickboxing.”
Because my kickboxing… what?
May 30, 2010 at 2:50 pm
@SE Since when does a loss (albeit a bad one) discount a fighters whole fighting style. I pretty much cant stand mma but uriah faber is still a beast and an excellent fighter. As for “exposing the stupidity” I guess Saenchai,Buakaw,Yod and Soren all have been exposed for the “stupidity” in their styles as well. The Sabai Sabai apporach to fighting outside of thailand has cost some of these guys L’s on their records. Does it expose the stupidity? Maybe maybe not. I think what’s stupid as far as muay thai goes is constantly fiddling with your drawstring thai shorts in a match for no damn reason. Fighting muay thai vs matches with rules that favor the other style. The double standard that says when thai’s act cocky in the ring they’re funny/entertaining etc. When we do it were jai rawn, disrespectful, bad for the sport. I would never act that way but the double standards are pretty ridiculous. Who cares if Faber has a butt Chin? Since when do fighters care about what another fighter looks like? I guess you totally approve of Masato’s deliciously good looks. ( no homo) And lastly, referring to the japanese as ‘Japs’ is stupid and racist.
May 30, 2010 at 3:00 pm
1. someone else also used “delicious” when describing a fighter (granted it’s about his looks. dude pulls bombshells though.) on a completely unrelated post. hilarious.
2. SE – this is faber’s striking coach THONGLOR (best name ever) taking on an mmt regular nate willett: http://www.youtube.com/user/10MNTMEDIC#p/a/B06ECA78E225A2E4/1/jvpn9Hf5TmI
3. buttchins must be pointed out as they are ridiculous looking.
May 30, 2010 at 8:46 pm
nakmeezy,
wtf does faber sucking have anything to do with sanchai, buakaw or yod? are u stupid or not to good at reading?
May 30, 2010 at 9:10 pm
They all lost but it does’nt mean they suck. Explain how UF getting owned makes him suck? All nak muay get beaten at least once in their careers. So no I’m not stupid and yes I can read. You on the other hand seem to be really good at hating on people that are good enough to become pro when you are not. You have the muay thai version of penis envy.(no homo) So unless you’re some muay thai prodigy no one’s ever heard of you need to fall back. You must’ve drank too much krating daeng haterade.
F-tard.
May 30, 2010 at 9:46 pm
how is uriah faber a nak muay? hahahahahahahahahahaha
May 30, 2010 at 10:26 pm
Nak is a prefix for something you do or an occupation. For instance Rien means to study. A student is a nak rien. A fighter that practices muay thai is a nak muay. If they are not thai they are nak muay farang. Unless they are asian. Asians are not called Farang, they are referred to as Kon jeen(chinese) kon yeepoon( japanese) etc. East indians are refferd to as Kairk which means guest. if they are french they are nak muay farangce. Black- Nak muay Dam etc. So yes UF is a nak muay since he trains muay thai. As is anyone who seriously trains and fights muay thai. Ok ,SE ? (SUMMERS EVE) you know…..like the doushe? Or should I just call ya doushe?
May 30, 2010 at 10:33 pm
i never asked about what the term means of how it originated. still not good at the reading thing are you?
May 30, 2010 at 11:03 pm
SE
So what if you didn’t ask that? Nakmeezy’s explanation was an interesting and a relevant part of his response to what you DID say, and would merit being said even if it wasn’t.
What exactly is your problem that you have to be so hostile and rude all the time?
May 31, 2010 at 1:42 am
we need an MMT grudge match event.
May 31, 2010 at 4:26 am
I despise uriah. he tries to fight like some super hero. when he got that rocked by matt brown by trying to do that super elbow uriah totally deserved that loss. i never seen him really do MT in his fights. even though hes “been to thailand”. when Thonglor starts flexing his muscles after uriah wins a fight its super fruity, this is not even touching on his attire. . SE doesnt approve. especially when he barely displays much MT technique in his fights. he was on MTV for some dumbass show, the WEC hasbeen trying to make butt chin their poster boy for a long while. then when you see a guy with real skill fight him and dominate the suppsed nak muay with leg kicks like people did back in the early ufc days it reallys proves a big point. its not really the fact that he got beat but the manner in which he got beat.
also, Thonglor cornering uriah faber during this fight was pure comedy. you guys who havent seen it should check it out.
May 31, 2010 at 4:30 am
SE getting owned left and right. quit while you’re ahead, man. for someone who doesn’t know anything, you sure do talk a lot of junk. you infect every single mmt entry with your bullshit . nakmeezy’s responses to your whining are both relevant and, in fact, answer your questions fully. another armchair fighter aka poseur.
May 31, 2010 at 4:46 am
i know the history behind the the term. stupid fuck. if you could get your mouth off of the corn rolled wigger fighter maybe you could see i meant he never should carry that title due to what he displays in the ring. never mind NOT EVEN FIGHTING IN MUAY THAI MATCHES……if u never heard of this corned rolled wigger before and saw him in a fight you probably wouldnt be able to tell he practiced MT, aside from seeing thonglor in his fabulous outfits. i dont need to dignify his comments cus you want to swarm on someone who has a real life opinion on things and doesnt appreciate it when poster boys are nothing but hype and take away opportunities to other qualilty fighters. if this type of honesty disturbs you i dont give a rabbit sized shit.
May 31, 2010 at 5:44 am
@Jake I would love to add Summer’s Eve on an MMT grudge Match card. Problem is,I’d have to wait in a long line of people who have dibs on kicking his ignorant, racist and computer thuggin ass. Kicking internet thugs asses has become somewhat of a hobby for me.
@ Summers Eve I’ve watched these threads for a while disgusted at your stupidy and racism. Wigger, japs and all kind of BS has been coming out of that cock sucker (no homo) you call a mouth. You need to grow up and act like you have a clue of what repping for this beautiful art is about. Otherwise you should go to bullshido where there are more like minded fools that you can play with. You’re the only prick on this whole site and your schtick is tired. Your that dude at the gym that none of the trainers wanna hold pads for,no one wants to clinch with and that no one likes or respects. You are a joke Summers Eve and I ALMOST feel sorry for you.
I will own you again tomorrow if I’m bored.
May 31, 2010 at 5:58 am
thinking you know me cus i dont hold back and shit flowers like you? at this point your talking out of your ass, bitch. you should feel sorry for yourself for teeny bopper like crushes on corn rolled wiggers trained by flamboyant thai dudes. thats bad.
May 31, 2010 at 12:54 pm
Faber is a good fighter. All fighters lose. Aldo will also lose his title someday. So will Anderson Silva.
Fabers lack of kickboxing skills were exposed in his last fight. It is hard to blame the coach since none of us were there. Perhaps Faber didn’t spend enough time with the coach, perhaps he wasn’t listening to his corner during the fight. Who knows.
Last Saturday we saw an excellent Judo practitioner dominate a very good Muay Thai fighter in MMA. The guy barely got a strike in and the Judo guy took him to the ground over and over and over.
MT is essential in MMA but so is takedown defense, transitions, Jiu Jitsu and all the rest.
It all comes down to who is better that particular night.
May 31, 2010 at 3:42 pm
SE, you’re drowning here. you are a liar, you had no idea what the term nakmuay originated from. you are ignorant to muaythai and ignorant to life. no fight résumé so you toss around your racial slurs about this person and that person, but you’re all bark and no bite. for all that talk, you have nothing to show, and everyone on this site, whether they say it or not, already knows you are a joke. you give a poor account of yourself every time you make a post. truly pathetic.
May 31, 2010 at 4:15 pm
agreed. It all boils down to respect. btw SE- how can you despise Uriah so much? have you put in the work he has? do you know his morals? why are you so upset? maybe there’s something else we’re missing here. i’m not even into mma but you have to give respect where it’s due.
May 31, 2010 at 6:19 pm
You must’ve drank too much krating daeng haterade.-LMao..I forgot about that litttle drink=)
Now that Quentin J is quiet now, this thread is my new trash talk source=)
Nak u got some real lyrical skillz, rude boi=)
Speaking of Silva..I do miss him. We really lack more striking promotions here in the US. If he does fight Shogun, I hope they give us a stand up fight
May 31, 2010 at 8:26 pm
dan, thonglor is ALWAYS with faber. he spent time in thailand too. he has no excuse except for being a hyped up poster boy. good riddance to his career .
this nutriding of ‘the california’ kid is fuckin hilarious. especially from people here. but then again most of you are tools who believe theres only one side to an opinion. i feel sorry for you guys.
gorrila palmz, im a liar? how so? youre pulling things out of your ass like a little bitch. if you can prove what you said go ahead.
May 31, 2010 at 8:45 pm
@Summers Eve While I wont speak for everyone,I only watch MMA for some decent stand up. I do however respect all the technical aspects of a good ground game. That being said,no ones riding UF. He’s a good fighter and any real fighter can respect that. I’m not sure if the dickhead thing is all an act but you dont have to keep it up if it is. The fact that you post here shows you have some knowledge of the sport. It took me a while to learn about humility and respect in the fight game. One day you will come to the realization that being a dick is’nt all that it’s cracked up to be. F with too many people and you’ll get burned.
(Thats what she said)
May 31, 2010 at 8:49 pm
Anyone watch the it’s showtime event on saturday? If so what do guy’s and ladies think of Hari’s performance?
May 31, 2010 at 9:11 pm
i like to separate my respect for people as fighters when i comment on them from from a fans point of view. whenever i comment i am not thinking i am superior in any way but looking at it from the fight games perspective. this should be obvious….as far as humility, ive gotten beat up plenty of times in the ring. dont worry about that. i respect everyone in the fight game except when they are being overhyped and taking away opportunities from real talented, hungry people. that pisses me off. the ufc and wec always try to over hype their fighters and i believe this was a prime example of that. i am passionate about my opinions and my opinions are very real. i am a huge fanboy of MT and will always be. this is also why i dont care for the japanese and how they dont do MT but kickboxing and have biased organizations. why cant they swallow their pride, acknowledge MT and embrace it instead of turning it into some boxing/karate hybrid and trying to take some credit for themselves. its typical of them. sorry but thats bs. im sure most if not all MT fans would agree.
i saw haris performance….it was kind of suspicious that he would do that. because he doesnt have a history with hesby like he did with bonjasky. hesby absorbed and dealt with all of haris flurries. REALLY well. and even came right back at him. i dont think hari liked that. i suspected that he was scared and took a pussy way out of the fight. but then again with hari you cant count out a true genuine hatred for the other fighter.
May 31, 2010 at 10:55 pm
@SE I felt that same way about the Hari fight but I was wondering why he did’nt even apologize and turned his back on hesdy as HE tried to make peace with hari after the knee to the face. Not cool. I just got back from training at the new MIKE’S GYM in Amsterdam( really oostzaan) and they have a weird style of training I guess it’s similar to the japanese style. They say uss and kinda rush all their combos. I was sparring with one of their pro fighters named Murthel something and he was pretty good. However, they did’nt have a clue of how to deal with kick catches, sweeps and the clinch. Very different, but at the end of the day still effective. All it did was confirm how much muay thai is the shizznit.
June 1, 2010 at 12:04 am
SE stole my thunder on this one. Needless to say I agree.
June 1, 2010 at 12:08 am
On the context rather if not the entire message.
June 1, 2010 at 12:16 am
Lastly and respectfully Thonglor is well beyond the point of responsibly taking fights: he really shouldn’t and he’s well beyond the point where he can do it and maintain good health.
As far as the racism thing goes meh I’m Asian and it hasn’t been the last time or the first time I’ve heard people training under Asians (Thais) throw the word around pretty liberally and freely including a big time trainer in the UK. But to be fair that one goes for pretty much all Asians. Same big time coach asked if I wanted some ‘chinky’ when going for Chinese take-out.
Anyway, I must have missed the ‘jap’ message because I don’t see it posted.
June 1, 2010 at 1:39 am
@SE: we are all very opinionated, so don’t use that as an excuse for running your mouth haphazardly; there are plenty of people on this site, and almost all are able to get their point across without cursing or belittling others. most of us are fans, not fanboys, and i don’t think that is something to be proud of, in muaythai or anything else. don’t think so big of yourself to think you know the reasons people hold certain opinions; you assume others are just buying into hype and trying to be politically correct, that they believe everything they hear, but that is incorrect. there are a lot of people who visit this site, from fans to fighters that have fought amateur to pro, and many people are in the know. don’t assume you know why people hold the opinions they do. some things in the business suck, and we all know that, but in happens in every walk of life and you can understand that without having to curse every other word.
@padkeemaw: “krating daeng haterade” – LOL!!! that was really funny. XD
@Stack: fair enough about what you mentioned, but i hope you are never the victim of any racial slur or ethnic stereotype in earnest, because it is not a fun moment.
on topic, i think muaythai has become synonymous with stand-up fighting in mma, but that is not, in actuality, true. just because someone stands up and fights, punches, kicks, and knees, does not make it muaythai. the biggest thing mma stand-up training has adopted from muaythai is the use of pads to allow the safe application of full-power techniques to a moving target on a consistent basis, specifically with kicks and knees. while there are many good mma stand-up fighters, i think the term muaythai is thrown around way too often in mma circles. lyoto machida does not do muaythai, and he is a great stand-up fighter. at the end of the day, muaythai and mma are two different sports, and while i enjoy both to varying degrees, i consider them separately in my mind.
June 1, 2010 at 2:10 am
MMA is subject to flavors of the week in terms of preferred striking method imo. Sorry but ‘standup’ is just about the stupidest term I’ve ever heard used to describe striking. After all do you call jiujitsu ‘sit-down’? It doesn’t help when 2 of the worst combat sports commentators on earth host giant PPV events and spread gross misinformation about nearly aspect of Muay Thai in MMA. Don’t get me started with boxing descriptions they give.
I can remember MMA fans going nuts over kempo during Lidell’s reign, than kickboxing, than Muay Thai. And the reality of it is and will likely remain 99.9% of MMA fans and practitioners have never seen authentic Muay Thai and would likely not know it if they saw it. MMA has served to add Muay Thai to the vocabulary of fans of MMA and that while significant hasn’t led to a deeper understanding of Muay Thai.
SO I don’t get labelled a hater let me make it 100% clear: MMA is a valid and noble pursuit in terms of combat sport. But the promotions and in general the fans are easily among the dumbest and most uneducated fight fans I have ever encountered in my life. The lowest common denominator is constantly fed and the fans are pretty much blatantly lied to and ripped off by the promotions. It’s like sitting down to a plate of shit with cream on top except the smart person will pass after the first helping.
Not that MT doesn’t have issues and continues to both internationally and in Thailand too but MMA as gateway sport to MT is only a nice theory and not at all a reality.
June 1, 2010 at 3:12 am
@Stack: well, to be fair, in bjj, then don’t really “sit-down”, whereas in stand-up, they really do stand up. lol.
also, to be fair, many people who train muaythai here in the states wouldn’t know what real muaythai is either. lol. sad state of affairs, isn’t it? they tend to know more about mma and mma fighters and have never even heard of saenchai. =(
“MMA as gateway sport to MT is only a nice theory and not at all a reality.”: so true.
June 1, 2010 at 3:13 am
Ok last post then I will shut my big e-mouth.
If Muay Thai is going to become anything it needs to do it on its own. Internationally Muay Thai needs to put on the big boy pants and walk on its own. Muay Thai hasn’t a hope for any long term future trying to carry itself on MMA’s coat tails that MMA made on their own. So while I criticize MMA for its many issues it got noticed on its own efforts. Until Muay Thai can do the same internationally change and growth is going to be slow.
At a grass roots level its growing but their are so many issues organizationally and in terms of accurate information sometimes the skeptic in me wonders how it even got this far in the USA. Thankfully there are spots of the world where real Muay Thai still thrives.
June 1, 2010 at 3:15 am
Also one can easily strike while not standing as well.
June 1, 2010 at 10:02 am
Stand up does’nt necessarily mean striking. It refers to fighting on your feet. Stand up grappling is commonly known to us on here as the muay thai clinch. Greco roman wrestling is also grappling from a “stand up” position.
June 1, 2010 at 10:50 am
jake,
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH thonglor is a clown. i guess im starting to understand him more now. awesome job by nathan, wow.
June 1, 2010 at 11:57 am
Also one does indeed butt scoot sitting down. A move I’ve yet to see perfected in a standing position.
June 2, 2010 at 8:24 am
@Stack, you said %99.9 of mma fans are dumb, i think you mean north american fans, so if you dont have much knowledge about mma, just stick to muay thai and stop hating. I think what you mostly see in mma are from the UFC in america. I respect all sport and so should you.
June 2, 2010 at 8:27 am
@NAKMEEZY, your right that stand up doesnt necessarily mean striking, its also a mix of judo, sambo, muay thai, savate, sanda, and other stand up arts. Ground game is bjj, greco wrestling, sambo, and other arts i never even know about.
June 2, 2010 at 8:32 am
yeah but when commentators mention stand up they MEAN striking only…..and yes the mma stupidity is world wide. i hear the mma douches are strong in canada. that bad cus canada just sucks in general.
June 2, 2010 at 3:37 pm
No Samb0 I mean internationally. And it stands true: mma fans are the stupidest most uneducated fight fans in any combat sport. And the UFC is the biggest MMA promotion internationally in any scenario. Stick to mma and stop hating.
June 3, 2010 at 6:11 am
I think the majority of all combat sport fans are stupid meatheads. Not only in MMA. We have all heard the clueless dousche’s complain about the thai music, the wai kru and yell KNEE KNEE KNEE whenever a clinch happens.( as if the fighters dont know to knee in the clinch) The best one’s yell Ooooohoy when people are punching. So we have our share of Muay thai idiots as well.
June 3, 2010 at 2:55 pm
OMG NAKMEEZY you hit the nail on the coffin. however, the funny part about knee knee knee is that is literally translates to, “take this, take this, take this,” in Thai. so when i was going up watching Muay Thai with my typical funny grunty old drunk uncles of mine….they would yell out the same thing but it’s not what Americans think….as the fighters are throwing the knees in the clinch the crowd is literally getting into it saying take this! or take that! however, i’m sure with the popularity of americanization/foreign training that over time knee knee knee has somehow really turned into knee knee knee as well. LOL. anyway off topic…as far as the music, wai kru, and so forth i think it should be a prerequisite for everyone to read up on the history of this sport before they say something in the wrong place and get knocked about by an old Thai guy who happened to understand English.
June 3, 2010 at 2:56 pm

June 3, 2010 at 2:58 pm
oops double post but slight edit on last part…either way same point.
June 3, 2010 at 4:40 pm
Compared to ring girls getting their own shows and controlling who or what pays you on an approved list?
Poor examples gents.
June 3, 2010 at 10:05 pm
@stack How is what I posted a bad example of clueless fans not being exclusive to MMA? I dont like MMA at all but they are’nt the only ones with clueless fans. I’ll take ring girls getting there own shows(which I can ignore by turning the channel) over Discriminatory pricing at Lumpinee and Raja. As to your point about who controls an approved list. What list do you speak of? How about a corrupt thai army general controlling who fights who and taking cuts of the purse.
June 3, 2010 at 11:29 pm
yelling ‘knee’ while people are in the clinch is a motivator. i, for one, enjoy it.
June 4, 2010 at 2:14 am
@Stack, im guessing you never watched mma in japan, brazil, or china have you? The only dumb fans are the one watching the ufc, if you think otherwise, then your the hater, not me. I didnt mention anything about muay thai. I follow every combat sports scene, just because you like one sport doesnt mean you have to hate another.
June 4, 2010 at 2:29 am
“@stack How is what I posted a bad example of clueless fans not being exclusive to MMA? I dont like MMA at all but they are’nt the only ones with clueless fans. I’ll take ring girls getting there own shows(which I can ignore by turning the channel) over Discriminatory pricing at Lumpinee and Raja.”
Enjoy the ring girls then. The point is fan focus on ring girls in MMA resulted in getting a barely literate, poor speaking girl her own hosting duties on a show when she’s more known for her looks in a halter top and short shorts than knowledge of the sport (Which is basically nil). I have yet to see the same happen in any other combat sport. Comparing that to the alleged corrupt general or fans willing to pay a greater sum for being foreigners speaks more to farang fans love of the sport to pay the difference anyway. Doesn’t speak much on them being dumb enough to for example have created enough demand to grant a ring girl with her own televised show.
And just so I am certain what is being discussed: which general in particular has been proven as corrupt? You are aware that Muay Thai in Thailand is wholly government run including the stadiums? Its been pretty much that way for over 4 decades now.
“As to your point about who controls an approved list. What list do you speak of? ”
The approved sponsors list. In other words even out of the cage the promoters determine who and what ANY GIVEN FIGHTER can get paid from.
“How about a corrupt thai army general controlling who fights who and taking cuts of the purse.”
Which General? I may agree with you but now I am going to have to ask you to name names just for the sake of certainty. And in what instance has a general taken a cut of the purse as a member of the controlling board in Thailand?
Just so its clear I don’t give Muay Thai a break for BS. I am not going to use this space to plug but check my site and I think it will be abundantly clear that I don’t play favorites. In these very responses I’ve openly stated broadly that Muay Thai is definitely NOT with out serious issues.
Like anything you love you want it to get better and to improve. And with MT I take no prisoners in naming names and explaining in detail who’s in bed with who. Without breaking it down into minutaie let me say if you’re in bed with WMC just keep in mind Fox likes being on top. But promotion-wise I’ve publicly pointed out BS going around too. Believe me its made me no friends but I do feel obligated to speak on these very clear wrong doings and will continue to do so. I am well beyond the age of caring about being blacklisted, gag ordered or bullied by any of these parties.
Kind of an aside… but I have had so many thank you letters from so many camps and fighters I’ve honestly lost count. But by the same token almost none of them will publicly make a stand because they know of the likelihood of retaliatory measures being taken against them up to and including blacklisting. But by no means is what I am stating hugely revelatory information or even new info. I just actually have the temerity (or stupidity) to say it publicly.
Now with all the multiple issues in Muay Thai internationally and in Thailand I still say with confidence the stupidity exhibited by your average MMA fan is easily the worst I have ever seen in any combat sport. I’ll draw on examples from real life: on average in my experience I can talk boxing with almost any MT fighter and they can speak with a reasonable bit of knowledge about it in regards to records, hot spots among the various weight classes and promotionally what’s going on. I have never been able to do the same with MMA fans.

Samb0, since you obviously have an issue with me I’d advise you to put it aside and read what I’m actually saying. I think MMA is a very valid pursuit. I will make you a cash money bet in any amount you wish that I have seen and know more about MMA than you. First you misquoted the 99.9% point I made and then you went on your little tirade. You’re really making my point for me without too much other commentary.
That said MMA fans are still in my opinion the stupidest fans of all combat sports. And keep in mind there is plenty of stupid fans in any sport.

@stack. I dont name names. Name naming only hurts he who names and not the named. As far as the ring girls go,I dont enjoy them at all. I actualy despise sexed up clueless tarts who have no idea of what they’re talking about. My point was that we in the muay thai world in the west (especially if not exclusively) have our share of clueless morons as well. I would have to agree that the ufc has spawned a new breed of martial meatheads that I could do without. As far as farang price vs thai price,I accept that I probably make more ones than the average thai and that I will occasionally pay more for the same goods and services. However,2000 baht for lumpinee is crazy! I have never been inside lumpinee for this same reason. I prefer to look into the shops with the funny ass thai boxing shorts down the block.
I respect your knowledge about our sport and the fact that you call the BS as you see it.

For the record. I dont like MMA. First I defend Uriah Faber and now this! I gotta get back to Grung thep Reo Reo!

NAKMEEZY you are going to get more upset now then because they just jacked up the prices even more.
I agree MT can have some remarkably dumb fans in it but whoof the numbers versus those in MMA.
In regards to the general I think I know who you’re referring to but very honestly he is more of an out of touch figurehead than a proven corrupt despot or anything. He just left his org in the wrong hands and took a nap for about 20 years or so.
The overall impression I get is he can’t be bothered for day to day activities in running his org but is always on hand for photo ops and press quotes. Sadly, nothing atypical about that but they got over confident and openly began shitting where they ate so to speak and its proven that everything I said was already a pretty well known fact among the more hardcore MT fans and athletes. I just maybe provided a clue or two to the more uninitiated by saying it publicly.
