You guys might remember I introduced you to the MuayThai Preservation project, a couple of months ago. It’s a charity that helps at risk youth, by providing them with Muay Thai instruction. The chair of the organization is also MMT contributor, John Wolcott. Apparently when John isn’t thinking about East vs. West coast muay thai he’s running a foundation! The people at the Muay Thai preservation are out there doing good in the name of muay thai… how can you not get behind that.
“In February, the Muaythai Preservation Project returned to Thailand. This time, to hand deliver a collection of slightly worn sneakers to needy kids and teens at Sangmorakot Gym in Bangkok. The Muaythai Preservation Project launched its Second Chance Sneakers Program in September of 2010. Through the program, members of participating Muaythai gyms in the New Jersey area were able to donate slightly worn sneakers which were then collected and distributed to those in need in Thailand.
Often times, kids in Thailand are forced to run in sneakers with holes in them, or run in sneakers that just don’t fit. This program was designed to supply those kids with good quality, second hand sneakers. Aside from a few scuff marks, no major issues were found with any of the donated sneakers. The program went over very well and the Muaythai Preservation Project will be looking to open up this program again in the near future. For more information on how you can participate please email us at [email protected]nproject.org.”
