Today Coach Damon Faulkner takes us through a very simple but effective knee defence while in the clinch position. It’s really important that you create that distance otherwise you might be on the receiving end of a Singdam style knee!

The only issue with this is that the person is on one leg and it’s easy for the other person to take that right leg and kick out his opponent’s leg and pull down on the right arm so they eat it. I’m not a fan of this defense. I prefer just to tie up and neutralize.

Hi xamarceaux,
I see were your coming from about getting your support leg taken away. The technique is based on having your back on the ropes and as shown in the clip by pushing your leg into the hip and pulling down on the arms this should hopefully stop or neutralise your opponent from generating power in the Knees or taking the support leg. All being said it does require good control and balance.

xamarceaux – dont agree, just put more hip in to it.Unless the opponant is massively bigger and stronger than me, I use this all the time and unless they know how to turn off from it (which a lot of people dont), I have no problem using to stop knees and neutralise the oncoming attack.I find it works quite well off the ropes aswell as on.
