Happy friday nak muays… here’s nice little technique you probably shouldn’t pull in sparring tonight, unless you’ve got your elbow pads… and even then you probably shouldn’t throw it with as much vigor as coach Damon.

We spar with elbows (with pads) in the UK,  I didn’t while I was in San Francisco…  anybody working elbows on the East Coast?

  1. nasty, plain nasty!.
    Thanks guys

  2. We spar with elbows to the body because that’s what’s most often allowed in our fights. I wouldn’t mind getting a pair of pads and sparring with them to the head too, though.

    Great technique, thanks!

  3. The pads take away the pointed sharp impact of the elbow..but man it does not diminish the general force..said brain still jingles in your head; reminds me I gotta dust off my elbow pads and do some easy elbow work with my training mate

  4. awesome, i would love to see more elbow and clinch related techniques.

yeah the elbow pads are nice but you still get a solid thump with ‘em if you’re not careful. we throw on some headgear and that allows for a little more serious of a sparring session sans straight-elbows.

  5. We throw them to the side of the neck and upper chest/throat when clinching. Just don’t do it too hard and don’t hit with the point of the elbow in training.

  6. We use our elbow pads pretty much all the time… def still hurts but at least you’re not being cut

  7. illegal hold on thai rules
