Congrats to Coach Damon to the new addition to his family!
In today’s Muay Thai Minute Damon takes us through some more clinching techniques.
This little technique proves to be slightly difficult to capture on video. The shrug acts like a mini arm bar… your shoulder acts as the fulcrum as you turn your body and shoulders away. It should be quite uncomfortable and difficult for your partner to hold on. There should be quite a bit of pressure on their wrist… if the wrist easily slides out then you aren’t trapping their hand well enough.

Why does Martin look so angry?
Drill this and let us know how you get on…

Martin got a little more respect going now. He wasn’t tossed to the ground like a rag but he does look pissed off for some reason. WTF?

Great technique, Also (Guy on left)—> O_O “Bitch broke my clinch…”
I use this all the time, but not always to defend or tear off the clinch, sometimes just to cause pain, then subsequent lettting go…the Muay Thai school i go to runs out of an MMA gym so alot of people come and go, often i get a few spazzy/muscle-head/asshole types who think they know a thing or two, but when you clinch they’re so aggro and constantly try to gorilla their way into double-head control (which is a highly overrated position to begin with, i don’t care what Joe rogan says about his TAI PLUM). Then afterwards they use every ounce of strength to hold on like their life depends on it….sometimes i just let them get it and wrap my arms in a gable grip around the outside over their arms and behind their head, then shrug my shoulder inwards and down to apply pressure to the elbow joint, kind of an asshole move and pisses people off, but i don’t care, stop being a spaz then… try to work with your partner instead of trying to dominate him. OK i’m done with my tirade. Carry on.

^But of course if you know what you’re doing i won’t be able to catch you in this, at all. The guys i do this to have plenty of strength but poor technique and are hard-headed & think they know everything. Please excuse my bitterness. Someone shat in my morning coffee.

I wonder where you are getting ideas for new videos :)

Im guessing there must be overlap with your vids? The only one of yours I’ve seen is the one you posted… If it’s similar to something you posted, I can assure you its coincidental.
Our videos are shot in one go over a sat afternoon… We show up and discuss a few things, after a few takes we realise that the next logical technique would be this or that. The entire process is fairly organic.

Hey Guys,
Hav’nt posted for a while. Have been busy competing, coaching Singdayt fighters, teaching, having more babies and of course filming for Muay Thai Minute.
The Muay Thai Minute has been a collection of techniques I have picked up over the last few years courtesy of Neng (Anuwat’s trainer/Kaewsamrit) and Omnoi “The Human Necklace”(Kiatphontip). If you ever get the chance to train with these guys then do so truly the “Coaches Coach”.
Once again I would like to thank mymuaythai.com and all the followers of Muay Thai Minute.
Finally…Make no mistakes Martin has plenty of fun slamming everyone including 100kgs+ guys to the floor.
Thankyou
Damon

Another great tip. We’ve been using this at our gym for a while. Our wrestling coaches call it a “Russian”. I’ve never used it to torture cocky muscleheads before… but I’ll keep it in mind for next time ;)
