locked and loaded review

May 15, 2009 by nopstar

Finally got my signed copy of JWP’s Locked and Loaded.  Wanted to thank Jared for referring so many people.  I’ll be sending out your dvd soon.

Overall I think the DVD is well done.  If you’re going to practice MuayThai you’re going to want to find a good camp to train at.  That being said I know there are a lot of people who don’t have access to a MuayThai.  Worse yet, there are some of you who think your training MuayThai but actually aren’t.  This is DVD series will help you get your training up and off the ground.

I spent most of this afternoon watching the DVD; there is a lot of content.  The collection is broken down into 3 disks, Volume 1 is for complete beginners… it covers all your fundamentals: Guard, footwork. Basic punches, elbows etc.

Disk 2- has a load of different partner drills.  I’m fortunate in that most gyms I’ve trained at have been really good.   I suspect there are some of you who train at places where MuayThai isn’t the primary focus.   JWP does a good job running through several drills you can work with a partner to improve your technique and timing. (Block, return kick etc.)

Disk 3- gets into the fundamentals of pad work.  They go into the basic combinations, and techniques of padwork.   They don’t really get into it from the pad holders perspective but that isn’t the point of the disk.

They’ve got a lot of additional content, which covers everything from JWP’s life to how to wrap your hands.  I think Locked and Loaded is a sound jumping off point for those who are looking for an introduction into MuayThai.
