I’ve been looking for this clip for a couple of weeks now.  This clip is from the RISE superfight that took place about a month ago. Hinata is one of K1′s new rising star.   is another dynamic fighter that I really enjoy watching.

I know Kyshenko’s primary style is MuayThai, but based on this fight I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that Kyshenko has a strong kickboxing background.  I don’t know why but I really felt Kyshenko fought differently then he normally does.

I don’t know if it was Hinatas frenetic rhythm, but something took Kyshenko off his game.  The opening two rounds were a bit cringe worthy… it was just felt that it was really sloppy kickboxing.

When I read about this fight, I was pretty shocked… but to be honest it looked as if he was really beginning to get the better of Kyshenko.  It annoys me to see NakMuay’s fighter under k1 or kickboxing rules, but hey you’ve got to get paid right?  I was trying to slow down the vid to see what that shot was… I’m thinking that had to be a liver kick.  It’s hard to believe someone as conditioned as Kyshenko could be brought down by a shot to the midsection alone.

Many thanks to redrum7171 and headkicklegend.com for the post.

  1. Kyshenko was already hurt in the first round by the spining heel kick in the liver.thats why he didnt fight as well as he can.Thats why the kick in the 3rd round finished him off.

  2. Kyshenko is one of my favorite Fighters. I think he is one of the best. But I think that in his last fights he just doesnt look the same. If you look at his fight with Alviar Lima, Masato or the fight with Andy Souwer he looks strong, fast and well trained then if you look at this fight, his fight with Murat Direcki or even the Fight against Moravcik or Abbe Joof he just doesnt look the same, I don’t know if it is his conditioning or something he just looks different for worst. I hope he recovers well and kick some ass in K1 this year cause I want to see him in the final Against Petrosyan!

If anyone wants to see one of my fights here is one!

I know its under Kickboxing rules but I’m a Muay Thai Fighter not a Kickboxer!

  3. oof, that spinning kick in R1 hit solid. i wish we could see that in at a different angle. did not see kyshenko losing this one, bummer. lethal toe kick for the win.

  4. I agree with Kosta, the spin kick hurt perhaps liver perhaps cracked a rib,a couple more kicks there did the job, powerful kick the spinning back kick, knock anyone down if it hits square:)

  5. kyshenko has always been a kickboxing brawler…

maybe he does mt but i see no hints of it

  6. ^Kyshenko seems to be a bit of both, i see alot of kickboxing influence, but the Muay Thai is there if you notice the very brief glimpses of his clinch game in K1.

I remember seeing him fight in bangkok in olympic style MT (pads and all) back in 2007, his clinch control knees and dumps are ferocious.

  7. I actually think he’d be alot better to watch in Full Thai rules, but just like anyone, he had to adapt his fight strategy to K1, thus watering it down, degrading his rhythm and making him inferior to his fellow nak muay stylistically.

  8. Hinata’s been watching Dr. Sick’s blog maybe? I love watching Kyshenko fight, but I also love seeing guys go down via liver shot.

  9. That spinning kick to the liver definitely hurt Kyshenko, but Hinata landed many more well-timed left round kick counters to that area when Kyshenko tried to enter. Kyshenko didn’t look confident in this one – he was impatient and awkward, couldn’t put together his usual crisp combinations. To me, he seemed unaccustomed to fighting a southpaw – demonstrated by a) The large number of lead/left kicks he threw (the Thais insist that Rule #1 of fighting someone in an opposite stance is to never kick with the lead leg, as it leaves one momentarily vulnerable and off balance to their powerful rear attacks). And, b) His poor accuracy & timing: he swung and missed a lot, and they often banged into each other – kinda like noobs. Engaging/countering an opposite-stanced opponent requires different timing (and tactics), since the position and range of targets are different. It didn’t look like he could adapt his style to dominate an awkward opponent. Props to Hinata for breaking him down.

  10. Hinanta did look more calculating than Kyshenko- Kyshenko, however, seemed to have more powerful strikes- too bad they couldn’t really find their mark.

  11. Oh, and spinning kicks in MT or kickboxing is pretty damn effective if used correctly.

  12. seems another `big bucks no whammies` case. buakaw vs sata anyone? it might not seem like it, but k-1 is losing animo every year, its getting smaller and smaller.
the japanese are growing tired of the foreign wins. they need more stuff like this, and every dog has his price.

    conspiracy mode on:

    - its hard to make someone eat a livershot that low in the midsection, it has to hit WAY higher especially when contracting the abs which was pretty obvious in this replay.
highly unlikely that someone like kyshenko gets TKOed by something like this. unless hes been drinking hennessy daily for the last 6months..

    - the way he barely moves and stays down so long also adds up to the showfactor. livershots are hard, and paralyze for a few seconds. sure you stay kinda weak, but ppl dont crumble for minutes like some crushed worm. the way he stayed down acting all dizzy simply didn’t go along with the possible damage in that area.

    - the way he was throwing him around like a ragdoll in the last minutes, while hinata was open for ALOT of other possibilities, was obviously radiating a very annoyed character. something like “wow you such, too bad i can’t do anything about it”.

-as for the first livershot, it wasnt enough, and i wouldve believed the TKO if he hit him again on the same spot within the next 2 minutes of impact. it recovers fast, i think we all know this from sparring.

im not too sure about this one, im usually not the conspiracy kinda type but im not falling for it this time :)

  13. shouldn’t there be a screening to allow someone to dawn nak muay traditional apparel like you have to be thai style not some chicken shit karate kickboxing influenced style like the Japanese use running around scared shitless all the time.

Fak its like the japanese guy who fought Senchai a while back …. the Japanese guy does a Ram Muay and as soon as the bell rings he comes out like a faking retarded beast slayer with absolutely no muay thai whatsoever.

I say its time to boycott Japan’s bs altogether unless it is AJKF with full muay thai… as muay thai purists whats the point of supporting their biased kickboxing influenced bullshit it only ruins our sport ….and figthers then I have to sit through garbage like this and i will never get that 8 minutes of my life back.

    Damn you Japan haha.

  14. Hinata is now fighting Andy Souwer on Sept the 18th!
Now that’s going to be a real challenge. It’ll be under shootboxing rules at shootboxings next event.

  15. I don’t think this was a conspiracy. I’m not sure I saw one single shot that felled Kyshenko , but I did see him take a number of big kicks right to the mid-section. Those add up. And if you see Kyshenko late in the match, he looks to be wincing as he goes to check the kicks, almost like he doesnt want to take anymore shots there.

And you can see from his eyes, he losses his killer instinct a bit. he was probably thrown mentally by the damage he’s experiencing. I’m been in this situation myself, dominating a fight only to hyper-extend my main kicking foot. it’s shocks you, your eyes widen and you begin to panic a little bit. you stop attacking so much and starting playing defense.

I’d loooooooove to see Kyshenko vs Yodsankai, two bigger fighters with lots of power.

  16. beatngu – I think you’re off the mark when it comes to the liver comments. You only have to hit on an upward angle at the bottom of the rib margin to seriously impact the liver. That’s only 4 inches of space between my illiac crest and ribs, so it indeed can look ‘low’.
Regarding staying down. I’ve seen guys stay down just as long with liver shots as those who have been knocked out cold. They are extremely painful, especially once the area has been worked over.
From my own and anecdotal experience, if you eat a good liver shot it does not recover quickly whatsoever. Certainly not in the duration of a fight. Sore livers a couple days later are common.

That said, I didn’t look like Kyshenko came out to win that fight. Off day/injury/conspiracy all possibilities.
