I was recently back in Thailand, running one of the MMT tours. We all had a great time, but it was a bit stressful a times. Most of Thailand was under a state of emergency, and Thailand was faced with some of the worst flooding it had seen in half a century. (here’s a good video explaining the whole situation) It was a bit chaotic, there didn’t seem to be a single credible source of information. Lots of hearsay, and panicked talking heads on the TV. There was quite a bit of panic buying and lots of price gouging. The only place I could buy bottled water was at Starbucks…
I was checking it’s hourly progress as it was creeping it’s way towards Bangkok and my home. On the day the fellas had a lie in, I was at home moving furniture, pictures up to the upper floors of my house. I was in constant contact with the camps, but most often with Rob Cox at Kiathphontip. He’s based in Salaya which was going to be the northern wall protecting the rest of Bangkok.
When I last spoke to Rob, he was sounding pretty nervous “It’ looks fucking high mate…” is how I think he put it. As you now know, the “northern flood barrier” didn’t hold and all of that are was inundated with several feet of water.
As you can see Rob’s gym Kiatphontip got hit pretty hard. The waters have begun to recede and things don’t look great. Rob has been a great friend to our community and to the sport as a whole. I can’t be there to help with the clean up, but want to do my part. I’d like to help with the clean up of Kiatphontop and I’m asking for your help. If you’ve liked anything about MMT over the past year, donate a $1, if you’ve trained at Kiatphontip, or appreciate any of Rob’s articles donate a $1. I’m going to be collecting clean up donations for the gym via paypal.
I’m also running a Facebook “like” fundraiser. For everyone who likes the MyMuayThai Facebook page, I’m going to be donating $1 towards the cleanup. ($1,000 total). If you know anyone who isn’t already a fan, please ask them to like the page.
I’m also providing a paypal donate link. If you could spare anything, ($1) it would be greatly appreciated!

My heart goes out to Rob. That’s such a bummer. I was looking forward to training there.
Nop- When I click the donate link it just goes to the paypal main page. What account/username should I send $ to?
