Kaoklai vs. Clifton
July 2, 2009 by nopstar

I think this is going to be the last of the Champions of Champions fights. I had to turn the sound down for this one, serisouly tired of listening to these guys border line racist yammering. Anyway, Kaoklai has to be one of the sloppiest Thai NakMuays around. I’m actually surprised he doesn’t get KO’d more often… it seems he almost never has his hands up.

The racist yammering was really bad. Thanks for noting that.
Kaoklai has always fought that way. I think he had a style relying on his reaction time and reflexes. And he’s quick enough to make most heavies look slow.
Also personally I felt Kaoklai should have won that. To my eyes he looks quite a bit smaller compared to Clifton too.
didnt agree with that decision.
and those commentators are idiots, racist and they dont seem to know much about muay thai scoring either…
I could not believe they weighed in even close..Clifton has more mass..he really used that to his advantage at the end as he stomped forward.
They were banging away, but clifton got a standing 8 count..I always thought you had to pretty much KO your opponent o get a turnover on points. I guess I was wrong
but…wich is thw real koaklai’s weight??
Anyway…don’t agree with the decision…
Kaoklai is bigger than he appears on video. his legs are massive and he is about 6ft tall. I was surprised by his size. Very sloppy.
Whats with all the clifton Bashing?
They both made weight and although Clifton looks heavier but like Filo said Kaoklai has massive legs/thighs.
I thought it was a great fight and after last years shit show he really deserved the win… Shame about the commentators tho
As far asthe weigh in goes, it was Clifton’s belt at 82kgs, so…even if he was bigger, that was the title Kaoklai agreed to fight for.
I thought Clifton won when I first watched it, but now I’m starting to reconsider my opinion after hearing not only everyone here’s thoughts but my friends of mine as well.
However, I’d still give the winner just a small margin
Kaoklai’s gameplan, similar to his previous one, was an intelligent one imo. He’s proven with Spong that he can’t run in and barrage his opponents at this weight, and he’s proven with Carnage that he can’t stand and trade with them either. In this case, I found him more explosive, working his timing off movement, and seeing it pay off. I think it is definitely a testament to his intelligence that he fought the way he did.
As for Clifton, he showed great heart and determination. In my opinion, he fights much better against fighters who will stand and trade like Priest West and Carnage (yes, he was KOed twice, but I would chalk that up to Carnage simply being a better fighter). It’s in those situations his technique and style looks most beautiful. Against Kaoklai’s gameplan, he seemed very rushed and more susceptible to getting caught; which is more credit to Kaoklai. It was a pretty tense fight. I’m still on the fence on whether he won that fight or not…it’s also very different watching fights live vs on video…so who knows
kaoklai lost…..interesting walk clifton has. its like 50% moving/50% blocking AT THE SAME TIME. also kaoklai is a gangster of bovy’s calibre.
it would be interesting training at kaoklais camp by kaoklai
No disrespect to Clifton…they both fought hard and we all enjoyed the fight they both had..It was great entertainment. I thought Kklai had it when Clif got the 8 count….but he really showed heart at the end..it was close. I just figured that due to 8 count Kaoklai had sealed it. But man Clif went after him in the end..that fight had us all up in arms as it went back and forth.
shit I thought BPP won more rounds then schivello and castignini gave him, and they admit to being biased but I still think they need to hold back on adoration but RACST? can someone please explain i dont wanna be that dude who picks arguments in blogs cause i never use my pc other then to check out this site crossfit and mma core but i just dont see the racism sorry
Dont know which fight most of you were watching but in my mind Clifton Brown clearly won that? The 8 count only means that he lost the second round. The rest of the fight Kaoklai was running away or on his backfoot that goes against you big and with a few exceptions nearly everyshot Clifton brown threw had visible effect as opposed to kaoklai who (with the exception of the second round and a good sweep on the 5th) seemed ot have little effect with his.Did I mention he was on the backfoot and running away the whole fight?!
Clifton won this
