K1 WGP Finals

December 9, 2009 by nopstar

I’m considering not posting any more GP on MyMuayThai from here on out.  Seriously what happened to the skill?  This looked like a really bad interclub/smoker.  Props to Hellfighter of the K-1Fans.com for taking the time to rip and edit these clips.

I agree, too. it is more exciting watching the regional championships than these clumsy guys

  3. SE on December 9th, 2009 9:43 pm

k1 has always been like this… i enjoyed it.

  4. Gusnark aka Sandjora on December 9th, 2009 11:53 pm

Bunch of sloppy guys on steroids.

  5. SE on December 10th, 2009 1:31 am

but there are no thai heavyweights. i think if theres any reason to watch k1, besides comedy, is for the heavyweights. k1 also has the drama down. steroid mma striking vs k1 fighters. their fighters characters are really developed. like it or not they have a massive history. the addition to the scores being announced every rd is good. you all know my stance on dumbass jap organizations but watching badr was awesome. as usual.

Are you guys stupid or what???? HW fighters are not known for their skills and entertaining fast paced fight, but these guys are some of the best HW k-1 fighters in the world. Tyrong sponge even have a hard time with these fighters, if yah want to watch a stand up fights with skills, stick to watching the lower weight classes for that. If you call these guys clumsy then i dont know what you watching, put yourself in there big azz shoe and see if you could fight like a lightweight before talking.

Kaoklai fought the k-1 heavyweights and he won a GP after defeating Mighty Mo with the hop kick from hell. I thought he was pretty exciting to watch but im not sure his evasive fighting style would hold up against these two giants. It would be pretty cool if k-1 used a light heavy class to close the hight/size gap between the fighters.

    WodenManFan,

Kaoklai didnt win the GP after defeating mighty mo, he lost to Musashi in the next rd, but the did won K-1 World Grand Prix 2004 in Seoul Tournament.

even though i know it’s so unpopular on here to like K1, i love watching it (not for the same reason i like MT – they’re different, and i don’t see why they always have to be compared), but i have to say overall, this GP was probably the worst i’ve seen. some really half-hearted performances from a lot of fighters that i expected a ton more out of, and it was rough seeing Badr lose the plot as he did, though it’s not the first time. he’s 100x better than that, but just got over-excited. hard to totally blame him, after all, it’s how he knocked him out last time.

well it happens to tons of fighters sometimes, and at the end of the day, none of us are fighting on international TV broadcasted to half the world and millions of people, so it’s easy for us to sit back and say how this fighter and that should have done things differently.

can’t lie though, i was pretty let down. watching Daniel Ghita destroy people’s legs never gets old though ;)

and i’m sorry, i know there are some Michael Schiavello haters on here, but you can’t get any better than him on the mic.

i agree with banana128, a lot of the regionals were more exciting. at the end of the day, the best is always MAX, hands down.

    there’s always next year

u like michael shiavello? the stupid fuck that called some dude ‘sayid’ just cus was brown and had pony tail? dude is a fucking moron.

  11. Kaizen_Machine on December 10th, 2009 10:17 am

I agree there. If you stuck in a decent Thai boxer they’d have battered both these guys. Good fun though!! :-)

i’m glad that schilt won this year, he is possibly one of the finer, more skilled and precise fighters of our generation.

    Jake-

Couldn’t agree more… smooth and balanced. He’s like a giant ninja

as good as Hari is, I take great pleasure in seeing him lose. My opinion of him has never recovered from the Bonjasky inccident.

yes SE, i like Michael Shiavello. i used to think he was kinda cheesy, but once i got into it, i can’t get enough of him. for my money, there’s no better announcer/commentator in the biz. he’s the man.

a lot of what he says is tongue-in-cheek. i don’t think there’s any reason to take so much of it so seriously.

  18. jake on December 11th, 2009 6:18 am

    100% agreed yknocka.

  19. SE on December 11th, 2009 8:12 am

no no. a lot of what he says is cock-in-mouth.

  20. war_neungsiam on December 11th, 2009 10:21 pm

wow SE, you hate something or someone? that’s so weird.

  21. koolkick on December 12th, 2009 8:18 pm

Looks like Hari’s game plan didn’t workout this time. It was like the repeation of last K1 GP and Scilt was prepared for it.
