It was previously announced on K-1’s website that the K-1 Heavyweight World Grand Prix Final 8 would take place in New York on December 26, 2012. According to their website it has been rescheduled for January of next year. The date & venue has not yet been determined.
K-1 has currently been focusing on the K-1 World Max 2012 Final 8 on December 15th, in Athens, Greece. The eight man 154lbs./70KG tournament will consist of Andy Souwer, Mike Zambidis, Artur Kyshenko, Chris Ngimbi, Andy Ristie, Reece McAllister, Murthel Groenhart, and Yasuhiro Kido. American Thai Boxer Chaz Mulkey is also scheduled to compete in a super fight.
The whole K-1 organization seems to have been in limbo since their first show in Los Angeles. “Allegedly” the owner Mr. Kim fired the majority of his staff after their first event & sold the company. Lexi Investment Limited has become the new shareholder of K-1 Global & Mr.Kim (EMCOM) is no longer the owner.
