JWP vs. Dzhabar
October 15, 2008 by nopstar
As I mentioned in my previous post, this took place back on September 16th…
I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet… weird how work gets in the way of such things. Anyway hopefully I’ll get into is tonight. You guys enjoy.

JWP owned that fight. I thought he was going to knock Jabba out. Jabba’s got some resolution. I don’t get why he was trying to box with JWP he should have used more kicks. Oh well.
Those australian announcers are hilarious. More combinations than a mcdonald’s menu. 555!
very good match JWP looks a little slow at throwing to me (could be his age/ could be # of fights he’s had) but his timing and technical ability is just phenomenal (for someone how didn’t grow up in thailand boxing).
Oh yeah I commented on this earlier. Like some one else said here man JWP looks bigger to me.
Schiavello is painful on commentary.
those australian announcers are just as intense as the fights they cover, holy hell.
jabba has a serious chin / guard. those gloves stayed stapled to his head! he came bombing in with this downward elbows in the 3rd.
jwp killed it in the 4th and 5th, what a couple rounds that was. spinning back kick for the win.
dzhabar let me down bigtime. not a fan of JWP
With all due respect…I was disappointed in the fight. At least it went the distance though.
I thought JWP looked a little slow.
But he still did a good job.
:)
Disappointing? Really?
I thought it was a great fight, personally. JWP fought exactly like a mature, ageing Nak Muay should. Measured, experienced, technical and explosive. Dhzabar was twitching all over the place. It was shameful that he was exhausted at the end of the fight given that he’s like, 22. JWP paced himself perfectly, and I think it was a great display.
I only enjoyed the last couple of rounds where JWP really dominated. I find his punches to be borderline brawly at the start of his fights and it looks sloppy.
Parr is barely 30 I thought. No doubt there is a lot of wear and tear on him after so many fights for a westerner. JWP has never been a super clean puncher but it does seem to get it done for the most part.
I’m not huge fan of JWP either but I think Parr had a fairly strong showing.
Crazy rumor is he’s now going to box Bika from the international boxing Contender. That’d be a first – 2 guys from Burnett’s 2 different Contenders fighting each other.
They both box kind of the same way. It’d be a pretty messy but entertaining fight though I’d think in this stage of their respective careers Bika wins this one.
I don’t know what people are talking about JWP being slow. Most of his shots were faster than they were powerful. Hi’s kicks have never been lightening fast though.
He completely overwhelmed Jabba. So busy.
Just to clarify:
I’m mainly disappointed that the fight wasn’t as close as the last one they had. I was hoping Dzhabar would have had a better night against JWP. But either way, respect to both.
I too am not a big fan of JWP. I don’t like his style or technique much. But he is a world class fighter, and has accomplished great things in the sport, and I have great respect for him as a fan of muay thai
Anyways, like I said, I was most let down that the fight itself wasn’t as close as I expected. Hopefully they’ll meet in the ring again one day.
JWP looked huge compared to Jabba. I give mad props for Jabba taking all those shots from Parr for the last 2 rounds. I think he can go down further in weight and do well.
Not taking anything away from Jabba, but I thought this fight better reflected the actual difference in abilities than their first fight.
I’ve always liked JWP—I’m a total fan-boy actually. His style isn’t classic thai, but his attitude and heart are :)
As far as JWP being slow . . . To me it looked like there was space between seeing an opportunity and implementing something (particularly early on). I might watch it again—perhaps I was mistaken.
Very very nice fight! Enjoyed that
Does anyone know the name of the song that JWP walks out to?
Nice Fight, and Damn JW look much faster Punchwise!!
