JWP Out Gevorg Petrosyan In!
April 20, 2007 by nopstar
Update: The Buakaw Vs. Petrosian K-1 Sweden fight can be found here.
Who? That’s what I said. Gevorg Petrosyan welcome to the spotlight. In the next month or two lots of people are going to be scrambling to find out about Gevorg Petosyan. So it looks as if John Wayne Parr cracked a couple of his ribs training with Nathan Carnage Corbett. Parr’s going to have to sit this one out. Sucks ass, everyone was looking forward to the JWP/ Buakaw match up. I wish JWP a swift recovery.
So now to the business at hand who’s Gevorg Petrosyan, I did some digging and found minimal info on him. If anyone knows anything about him, please do share. Petrosyan is an Italian fighter of Armenian descent.

Gevorg Petrosyan
Camp: Satori Gladiatorium Nemesis Gorizia (Italy)
F-30 W-29 KO-20 D-1
- Italian Champion MTA 2004
- European Champion MTA 2005
- Intercontinental Champion WMC 2005
- World Champion KL K-1 rules
I’m not sure how up to date his record is, but for some reason I’ve got a bad feeling about this one. This is how careers are made; some guy comes out of no where… catches the champ with a left hook and leaves everyone in shock. Anyway you don’t get to where Buakaw is by underestimating your opponents.
Here is a HL clip I found,

Very powerful kicks and hands! I don’t know how his opposition was, but he sure knows how to use his southpaw stance!
So this is Buakaw’s first match? Good luck against Buakaw. So in the second round, who will Baukaw go up against?
Bunzy, This will not be Buakaw’s first match in the K1 world max. This is a totally different ball game, Buakaw holds the WMC belt and he was scheduled to defend his belt against JWP, but it now seems that he will instead be fighting this Petrosyan dude.
Also, Buakaw is schedule to fight Farid Villaume april 20th (Today). Should be a great fight.
Ok…It seemed that Buakaw was replaced by Yodsanklai due to a (Shin bone injury). Well anyway, the fight took place and it was a great fight ( or so I have read, since I haven’t yet had the chance to watch it). They are saying that the winner of that fight would meet Buakaw next month. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’ll keep the results on lock for someone else to spoil…hehe.
i just spoke to a family friend of buakaw who called him up the day before to enquire about his health. apparently he’s doing fine and didn’t say anything about a shin bone injury (which i asked her to ask him about). the paris fiasco happened apparently because buakaw was not informed about the fight till a few weeks before it. she also said buakaw hasn’t heard of the slamm event either and is probably not going to be in it. the next fight buakaw said he was preparing for is in sweden on 19th may. after that he said he will prepare for k-1. according to her, putting buakaw’s name on the proposed fight cards may be just a way to earn some extra bucks for the middlemen. if true, its very depressing.
Souvik, Thank u for da info. some rumors where saying he didn’t know, some were saying he had an shin injury, I really didn’t know which one to believe…lol. There were rumors of him fighting the winner of the Villaume vs Yod bout, but it turned out to be a draw. The Slamm from what I understand is a sham…there always putting people on their posters who they know won’t be there for promotional reasons. His website states that his next fight will be in Sweden May 19th but I’m not sure who updated that is. Once again Thanx for the heads up…Someone needs to give Buakaw some worthy opponents (Yodsanklai, anyone?).
Souvik-
Thanks for sharing, great info… hasn’t heard of Slamm? Wow, he’s the poster boy for that event.

Wow, putting fighters on cards before they agree or even have opponents. The sad thing is it happens all the time, here in the states too. Many promoters are basically scam artists. The shin bone injury thing could have been just that, a convenient excuse for a fight that was never going to happen. Like Souvik says, if true continually depressing.
gevorg gave buakaw a hard time
Nah not at all buakaw isn’t sweating however i must say when i look at his previous matches this one wasn’t even intense.
hrvat u know that buakaw can deliver techniques faster than gevorg?
