If he was a killer before he started hanging out with boxers… not quite sure what you would call him now. The guys doing commentary were saying that Jomthong (red) been absent from the circuit because as you know he’s been focusing on his boxing, winning his first title in Korea a couple of months ago. Here’s he taking on Tongchai who’s been progressing up the ranks. In this particular bout Jomthong is giving up 3 lbs to the younger Tongchai.
Many thanks to 1972bigboss for the upload!

thank you jomthong. that was beautiful.
August 9, 2012 at 10:38 am
what do you mean by him being a killer before hanging out with boxers?
August 9, 2012 at 12:32 pm
Jomthong was an elite nak muay before he started focusing on his boxing career. Since he’s tightened up his hands he’s on another level

I really want to see Jomthong go up in weight and fight in a lot more international Muaythai fights and even K1! To be honest I don’t want to see him in boxing but that’s just because I love Muay Thai and feel he is the perfect guy for international Muay Thai. He has a crazy amount of experience in Muay Thai and is a really good boxer! If you take a fighter like that and for example put him in K1 or SLAMM he would dominate because he is perfect for that type of style! I am certain of it.

Thai Nak Muay with professional boxing skills = Farang Nak Muay’s greatest nightmare
August 9, 2012 at 5:58 pm
I concur, but also a nightmare to non-farangs.
Also, did Jomthong went with the hands more instead of the elbows and knees, which score more, correct?

Quality!!

Jeez..Jomthong is already a nightmare for farang hands or not..and honestly I don’t think the boxing puts him over the top in Thailand as he has recently lost to Phetboonchu, Kongsak and Pakorn. I really do enjoy watching his style..but it’s not like Thai boxers don’t know how to deal with hands..

true man, he has good hands so western boxing maybe the better pafl for him to get more cash

Well first of all I was talking about “international Muay Thai” not Thai Muay Thai. As you probably already know there is a very big difference on style and how a fight is judged (some I agree with and some I do not agree with but I still respect it). His boxing skills will not help him much when it comes to points “in Thailand” unless he knocks someone out like what happened in this fight. There have been many fighters that do extremely well in Thailand but do poorly when it comes to fighting abroad just based on there style and I believe with strong boxing skills and the type of style Jomthong has he would do very well internationally, more so then if he carried on fighting in Thailand or switched completely to Boxing.
If he wants to be at the top of the top he should not carry on fighting “as much” in Thailand against fighters like Phetboonchu who will cling to you in the clinch for most of the fight. Instead he should be facing fighters like Andrei Kulebin, Fabio pinca or even Petrosyan where he can demonstrate all his amazing skills and throw does punch to kick combos I love to see!

Poorly when it’s not full rules..and seems like there are just as many big full rules shows these days as kickboxing ones, if not more. Why push for him to go to K-1 when MT is on the rise internationally? And are western boxing skills that amazing when they are neutralized so easily by MT? And, if by the “top” you mean money then yes you are absolutely right he should fight abroad. But if we’re talking about being the best fighter, the top is in Thailand, that isn’t even a question.

You misunderstood me. I said international Muay Thai and K1. All I am saying is that he has the right style to be as great as Buakaw was/is and he doesn’t need to stop fighting against top Thai’s in Thailand, I would just like to see him go up in weight and fight abroad a lot more. The same goes with fighters like Sittichai, Kaew Fairtex and even Yodkhunpon within the next couple years. There’s just too many stupid fight cards out there with the same names like bovy and nonsai fighting and representing Thailand yet I feel there are better fighters out there that can replace them.

Yeah I agree that there are much better Thais than the ones that often get put on those cards.. All I’m sayin is though…hands or no hands…Thais typically dominate in full rules fights

jomthong was loving thongchai’s lack of head movement. thongchai just kept his head there asking for jomthong to smash it.

So pretty …

i always enjoyed watching jomthong ever since he started fighting. Very good style. If he wants to make good money their camp should consider him fighting farang. His boxing style will make farang fights more equal, as most foreigners score punches highly.. and knees low.

Damn, well I guess that tramp stamp yant he kept raving to all the farang about does work. I’m sorry for doubting you and teasing your tattoo buddy!!! When I come back to Chinatown next year I’ll treat you to some fancy China cuisine and we can shack up with some snobby light skinned chinese-thai girls.
