There is a great thread going on the K1 Fans Forum about the “Most Violent Muay Thai Pics” It’s brilliant, I wish I had more access to MuaySiam Weekly. You can always count on MuaySiam to publish the goriest pics.
I find this pic to be one of the most disturbing. It’s pains me to look at this, I can feel his nose getting crushed. Check out how calm the guy throwing the elbow looks… I don’t know who these fighters are, but I’m almost certain this ended the fight.
This left high kick is pretty sick… it looks like he was almost evaded the kick but instead got the guys toes, raked across his face. Damn it’s like his toes are embedded into the guys face.
This is just a small sample; you can view the thread here. Got me thinking what’s the worst injury you’ve sustained in Muay Thai? I don’t have anything too serious. I used to kick a lot of elbows, my instep was perpetually injured. Recently it seems that I’m quite susceptible to toe injuries. It’s so bad I’ve abandoned my teep in sparring all together.
How about you guys? Ever take an elbow to the grill? Knee in the face?

I had to get stitches to my eyebrow after I got a flying knee to the face that opened the skin and blood started coming out. This was last week.

Elbowed on the forehead, eleven stitches. That was my last fight.

Caught an elbow to the ball of my foot while sparring. Managed to destroy some ligaments around my toes which put me out of training for a few weeks.
Lesson of the day: Commit to your kicks.

The usual stuff- fractured ribs, hurt thigh from leg kicks, concussion, hurt elbows, knees and kneck from knee sparring

Also, even though I’ve been banged to the head pretty good boxing, overall Muay Thai is a lot more damaging to the body as a whole

Bruised rib, thigh is still killing me from a low kick, instep swollen, still not sure wut’s goin on wit my right shin…hopefully all of those will heal b4 my fight. Wrost injury I might have see though wuz me kicking this kid with a high kick, he leaned back to avoid it and he caught my toes in his eye, seriously…I actually felt my big toe pressing his eyeball inside the socket and his eyelid almost got ripped out when I brought my leg back…..ewwww.

I once got the wind knocked out of me in point sparring with a devastating front kick that penetrated through my chest protector. I also pulled my groin and bruised my left nut when trying to pull of a flying splitz. Rough sport huh!!!
I also got an ingrown toe nail when I misplaced a tornado kick to my opponents head. I better go work those roundhouse kicks on the speed bag!

I was showing Nopstar my “Squishy Shins” tonight. That’s when you press your thumb or other finger in your shin and make a dent that doesn’t come back into place for about 10-15 minutes. My girlfriend is horrified by it, but I’ve had it before. It’s kind of fun to play with it, actually. I’ll press little toys or other objects in them to see what cool shapes I can make.
I’m so injury prone though it’s sad. Broken left ring finger, broken nose, cracked ribs, dislocated shoulder, various rolled ankles. I know there’s more. I’m pathetic.
