Guinea 8 Man Tournament
December 29, 2008 by nopstar
Hi ladies and gents! I hope everyone had an eventful holiday? I had a friend in town so I decided to take a little mini break from MMT.com
I think a lot of you thought I got run over by a truck. Thanks SpydaMan and others for your checking up on me, but yes I’m alive and doing surprisingly well.
Anyway enough chit chat, down to MT biz… So while we were away, one of the larger Muay Thai events in recent memory took place in Guinea. I’m going to be rolling out the vids so I’m going to ask that you please don’t put up any spoilers. We’ll get to all the matches. A huge thanks to Stackmo for taking the time to rip and upload these vids for us.
Here is the event line up:
1st Bracket
Farid Villuame vs. Mbada
Ali Gunyar vs. Lamsongkram Chuwattana
2nd Bracket
Yodsanklai Fairtex vs. Denis Varaksa
Yohan Lidon vs. Mansi
I’m going to show you the 2nd bracket fights first as I’m still missing the fight between Gunyar and Lamsongkram.
Yodsanklai vs. Denis Varaksa
Yohan Lidon vs. Mansi

That poor Varaksa :(
Who organized that match-up? I like seeing Yod hit opponents as much as the next guy, but that was just painful to watch.
I totally agree fightgeek. I’m always game for watching Yod laydown a smack down, but this match up was horrible.
I’ve got to think Varaksa was a last minute replacement of some kind.
Holy crap, someone’s been putting in some work on the upper cut bag, it’s like watching Yod work a human punching bag.
Yes this was painful to watch. but considering all the ways he could hurt him, I think Yods was merciful. A clear head kick..elbow would have hurt him alot. I feel bad for him but hey..as a fighter, win or lose, he can say he got the chance to get in the ring wiht Yod
On K1-fans page was first written that Yod won by UD, so I though it must’ve been pretty exited/even match. Heeeellll no.
That was like watching Yod working on a punch bag. But still the man has the balls to go in the ring with Yod – he’s scary as hell.
Def agree with Yod going easy On Veraska. Also, it was his first fight of the night – he didn’t have to kick or knee to win, so why risk damage to the legs and spend more energy than needed.
I think I’m going to start working my uppers more:]
Watching Yod destroy the poor guy was awful…it looked like Yod’s corner couldn’t believe the fight wasn’t stopped sooner. Varaksa sure can take some punishment though.
Can’t wait to hear your opinions on Yod’s final fight!
I agree, Varaksa makes a very good punching bag
Guinea? At the end the anouncer was speaking in Spanish. Latinoamerican accent if you let me say it. Who was the promoter?
Both mach ups were awful! That spaniard was slow!
i finally realized yod is like a mini tyson. but with kicks too.

I figured you were having your own vacation away from it all, and thought, well when he returns something good is going down, and Yiihaa, Yod, Lamsongkram and Villaume. I cant wait for the others!! I love this site.
Wow Varaksa froze, kinda like Sean in the Semi fight of Contender Asia! Or maybe he just sucked??? The other fight was quick and ok. So Lamsongkrahm and Yod could fight in the Final?????
Commentators said Mansi was just 21 and the son of a former world champion (who cornered him during the fight).
Man, watching Yod cut through the air with those few uppercuts that just barely missed showed the kind of juice he was putting behind them. Very nice technique!
Thanks for these Nopstar, I knew I could count on you :)
was this full MT rules?
I didn’t see much clinching or elbows…..
quick points:
1) has anyone ever seen a spinning backfist work on a nak muay? dennis alexio called and he wants his technique back…
2) that kid’s back was red from being on the ropes so much, should’ve stopped that fight a minute into the 2nd
3) fights actually in equatorial guinea, also in west africa but former spanish colony…held in malabo, their capital…
celtic1967 said (referring to spinning backfists) …
“dennis alexio called and he wants his technique back”
LMAO
:)
The last exciting match of Yod, after contender asia finals, was when he fought with Madsua..madsua was rather agressive..but still got K.O…now, he is being matched with a novice fighter?? com’on, bring the champion some worthy opponents…
Thanks for checking the videos out and the comments. I will say who at this point is not a mismatch for Yod?
Also I heard Mbanda wanted badly to be on this tourney and he drew Villaume who is also a bad mismatch for Mbanda but everyone else in the tourney would have also beaten him and badly. Look at the size disparity alone.
“1) has anyone ever seen a spinning backfist work on a nak muay? dennis alexio called and he wants his technique back…

Celt, that was singlehandedly the most hillarious read this week. i literally woke my house up with a horse laugh.
It looks like Yod is trainning to K1, a lot of punches, no elbow, no clinch …
That would be great :-)
Yod was really on fire that night! Personally felt that Lamsongkram Chuwattana decided to call it in early… in the final match-up against Yod.
True, Yod got in a couple of heavy shots…. but Lam’s heart/head was definately not in the game. For a fighter with 242 wins out of 294 fights… and being a southpaw like Yod… Lam really could have given a lot more… what a disappointment!
Who am I?? Uppercut Uppercut.. Body Body.. Uppercut.. I agree quite painful to watch Yod work the human heavy bag.
Yod will reign!
