Giorgio vs Naruepol
November 4, 2008 by nopstar
This is another busy week for fight fans in Europe. This Thursday in Paris, the Gala de Levallois show is going on. This night will feature Fabio Pinca vs. Ait Bassou, Farid Villaume vs. Khapapetch and Anuwat vs. Youssef Akhenik.

I think Anuwat has slowed down considerably, but I don’t think Youssef is going to cause him any problems. In fact I thought Youssef had retired… at the last Slamm event he was the referee.
The big event is the Janus fight night taking place this Friday in Padova Italy. I haven’t heard of most of the fighters on the card that night but the pair that standout to me are Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Naruepol Fairtex
Should be quite the fight… after seeing the ass whooping Petrosyan laid on Raffik, I think he could do quite well against Naruepol. I’m not clear if it’s full Thai rules or K-1, for these guys I think it’ll be so close that the rules will make the fight. If Naruepol can’t clinch or elbow, I might give it to Petrosyan.
What do you think?

Can’t wait to see this fight. Full MT rules – Naruepol by decision handily; 3 round k1 rules – petroysan by split
Did you not get your passport back Mai?
Nauropol will knock out Giorgio, thats my Gambling Bet, but Its all guesswork and anything can happen, Nauropol could get knocked out too. But if we were betting I would place my bet as said, and hope the odds were allright. By the way I cant make myself gamble in real life, its just too unlikeley you would make a profit from it.
Naruphon by KO. this will not be full Muay Thai rules. I’ve notice many fights in Italy uses the k-1 style rules. I could be wrong, in fact i’m wrong aLOT. Buakaw got a draw against this Petroysan…… I’m ma go look for the fight.
Nop, though I initially though the same as you, I believe Youssef Akhnikh and Youssef Akhnenni are two different guys. ‘Akhnikh’ (the guy who fought Buakaw, is sometimes a referee, etc) fights at 70 kg. Whereas ‘Akhnenni’ fights at around 64 kg has fought guys like Hassan Ait Bassou, Kaoponglek, Jemel.. Here is the 5th round of his fight with Jemel:

Petrosyan by decision or ko, you guys don’t know or don’t remember that his original style is muay thai and that he has beaten other top tier thai fighters before, and he is slowly but surely entering his prime now..
Stinolatino
I definiteley know that Petrosyan is a pure Nak Muay, But Nauropol is entering his prime TOO, and has also beaten up top Thai fighters, he even has a Lumpinee titel, correct me if im wrong.
alright ShadyEskimo you got me there:d
But still I’m giving him a better shot than most guys here, maybe I’m a bit biased because I have seen more of petrosyan’s fights than the other guy but we’ll see;)
Last Petrosyan fights were all held under K-1 rules. So under these rules I believe Petrosyan wins by UD. Under full MT rules I give to Naruepol also by UD.
I may be biased because he’s a fellow countryman, but let’s remember that Petrosyan was one of the few people who stood up to Buakaw in his prime, managing a draw with him. I’m pretty sure that was under full thai rules, too. I wouldn’t underestimate him, and would definitely rule out a KO
I love Petrosyan’s style. He is top 5 in Europe at 70 kg in my opinion, maybe even top 3.. But his record vs thais is 1-1-2. Excellent considering the competition but I would be surprised if he had an easy time with Naruepol. I’m actually leaning towards the thai a little bit. Fascinating matchup that’s for sure.
As much as I like Naruepol, he likes to relax and just pound on his opponent, he doesn’t seem to strive for the knockout. I think he’ll win by decision, it’ll be like his fight against Trevor (first to leave Contender.)
I honestly doubt it will be like the fight against Trevor. Petrosyan’s on a much higher level than Trevor.
It’s hard for me to guess who will win but I’m hoping it will be Naruepol. Let’s not forget he actually fought and won against The King, Namsaknoi. He’s definitely got what it takes to bring down Petrosyan, provided he doesn’t underestimate his opponent and take things too easily
damn this is crazy. i have no clue but i know petrosyan is fucking solid.

I don’t speak italian but Babelfish tells me that Naruepol made it close (?) Gevorg continues to impress. I think he can give Souwer big problems.
colargol,
I speak some Itaian so if you paste the link hopefully I will be able to tell everyone what they said.
You guys please me to see you give Petrosyan the credit he deserves. He’s always been a great fighter and he did give Narupoel a challenge. He’s very young too and thus constantly improving.
Whoever compared Giorgio to Smandych you have got to be kidding me. They are galaxies away from each other in terms of level. I realize you may personally not care for petrosyan but comparing him to Trevor is both silly and a gorss injustice to everything giorgio’s accomplished.
giorgo made naruepol look like damn fool! his focus and aggression/punch combos are crazy.
sup fellas… posting the fight tomorrow
