Getting Ready for Slamm

February 18th, 2008 · 17 Comments

I’m wondering if I’m going to see any of you guys at Slamm? I don’t think I’m going to be scoring a press pass, they seem to be ignoring me… I guess they figure why supply me with a press pass when I’m going to be covering it anyway.

I just booked my tickets, sort of a bitch if you don’t read Dutch… anyway it’s going to be interesting to say the least.

Any of you guys see the promo for the Rachid , Saenchai fight? I don’t anything about this guy Rachid, nor do I understand a lick of Dutch. I’m guessing he’s saying something to the effect of “Saenchai’s never been hit as hard as I can hit… blah blah blah” anyone care to translate?

He seems to be doing a great deal of iron pumping… shit well if your going up against Saenchai I guess the only thing you can realistically do is be in shape.

You know who I’m pulling for… The guy commenting on Saenchai is none other than Mr Rob Cox. Rob is responsible for a great deal of the fight photos we see floating around online.

So who’s going? We meeting up or what?

i have a fighters heart, quitting is not an option for me.

if you do manage to get me down, you’re blessed for the moment.

i can take so much punishment, its very hard to take me down. ill just keep going untill i drop where i stand..

    melvin manhoef:
    keep going, come on!

    bellani:
fighting is meaningless to me if i cant be ready 200%, so im working hard.

i dont care about my opponent’s origin, thai or dutch. i faced 3 thai opponents before.

everyone has his own style, my style is very simple, persistance. as i said before, taking me down takes a blessing.

im young. i have alot to offer. and as long as my engine keeps on running, i will be offering.

seanchai is more skilled and experienced. so if he goes for his POINTS(thai tend to forget this in europe), keep it basic, it’s not going to be a problem for him at all.

Yea everyone just watched Saenchai get destroyed by Orono right…that says it all about the commentator saying Saenchai was the best and everything. They even say Orono has beaten Buakaw and Yodsanklai the 2 famous fighters, is it true?.

    ye thats true paul

    Thanks for the translation!

Would love to go, and I’ll be passing through Holland on the 9th, but passing through on my way to the wonderful world of Thailand so there’s no chance of a trip over to Holland the week before.

    Enjoy.

“Orono has beaten Buakaw and Yodsanklai”
It would be interesting to see rematch now. When did the fights occur? This was probably couple years ago, Buakaw and Yodsanklai were pretty young then, where Orono is older.

  • 7 Stack // Feb 19, 2008 at 11:03 am

Orono would still beat them as badly as he did before. About 8 years seperate Orono from Yod who he KOed twice. Not by any means an old man yet.

  • 8 SLAYER // Feb 19, 2008 at 1:00 pm

I would hardly say Orono “destroyed” Saencahi. The beginning and end portion belonged to Saenchai, while most of the middle of the fight belonged to Orono. Despite the fact that Orono had a significant height and weight advantage, it was still a very close fight, and anyone can have an off night. Plus, Orono is a badass in ANY weight class.

So, to assume that Saenchai is falling off his game because he lost this fight would be a HUGE mistake. He is still the best pound-for-pund Nak Muay out there, and he from all angles of inspection, he should wreck this guy.

Stack, my point was simply that Yod and Buakaw are not kids anymore, they are now more mature, heavier and stronger. You never know what would happen now. They’re all A class fighters after all.

Slayer, Saenchai is one of the kind, he could have an off night, but Orono won fairly.

  • 10 SLAYER // Feb 19, 2008 at 2:32 pm

Stack, oh I wasn’t saying Orono didn’t win fairly. I was just saying it would be foolish to take Saenchai’s loss to Orono as some sign of weakness. Orono is sick, and he’s a lot bigger than Saenchai. The fight was still very competitive, so I don’t think this should be construed as any sign of degradation in Saenchai’s talents. That’s all.

  • 11 SLAYER // Feb 19, 2008 at 2:33 pm

Oops, that last reply was meant for Gusnark.

  • 12 Stack // Feb 19, 2008 at 6:12 pm

It wasn’t a destruction fo Saenchai I agree with that. Orono in my opinion has proved he’s among the best P4P if not the best by my estimation. Though that is certainly arguable in regards to Saenchai whos’ fought in and out of his weight class so often you cannot help but be impressed by how easy makes it look by winning so broadly. That said Orono beat him fairly and there isn’t much I see in controversy.

Yod and Buakaw aren’t kids any more but they’d still get beaten fairly completely by Yod imo. So now one should ask themselves this: why isn’t Orono getting the higher profile fights yet Yod and Buakaw are?

Who is rachid bellani? Is that all they can find for the Kingstar?

  • 14 nak rohp // Feb 21, 2008 at 2:04 pm

sanchai is my fav fight to watch at the mo and hoping to meet and train wiv him early next year wen i return to thailand, will slamm be televised in the uk?

  • 15 Dii Mak // Feb 22, 2008 at 3:12 am

    Nop,

Not going to make it, gotta roll to VN for work. Take good pics and full report. Too bad no press pass as I am sure you would probably be able to talk to some of the nak muays. Thanks and have a blast!

  • 16 Tong Po // Feb 22, 2008 at 7:32 pm

Saenchai is an extremely unorthodox fighter. His moves seem to bedazzle his opponents. Orono is a very good fighter and won by not getting caught up in Sanchai’s moves. I love seeing Saenchai through around opponents in the clinch.
